For the record, it's now 9am, 8 hours after the official Australian release, and still no joy.

Same problem.
Australia
Win XP SP3
DA2 Digital Version
Not enough that the release date mysteriously changed on me and was pushed back 29 hours, but now something about not having admin rights when I'm logged in as the admin. It's now 2am and as this is my first pre-order experience ever I doubt I'll do it again. I knew there was a reason I waited until prices dropped and everything was nicely patched...

As far as I can tell, what happens is:
DragonAge2Launcher.exe calls \\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe calls \\bin_ship\\core\\activation.exe
To activate the product, activation.exe needs admin rights, but they are not passed on and setting them to the exe itself won't help either (no popup asking to grant them).
And please (!!!) don't offer a workaround requiring me to disable windows security features...
With that I am very happy that it's not working because now I kinda have to go to bed ... my boss will thank you.

I don't know how many others have had this. Although I had run the game fine before, I started got this error today (after my system rebooted to install MS patches). It kept telling the game couldn't run under guest account or with my login privileges. After searching and finding no answers on google or here. I started trying different things. After a couple reboots, drivers updates, etc with still no luck. I decided to try the EA download manager and launching the game from there. Viola! it ran. Surprised I immediately exited and tried again - ran. So then I exited and tried running from my shortcut, and again it ran and now seems to be working fine. Since there were no other solutions that I could find I figured I'd post this just in case it helps someone else.
Later -
I attempted this myself by downloading the manager and putting in my DA2 registration code, but the game still gave me the same error.
It is now 11 hours and still waiting for a fix.

Dear BioWare Team, the issue should not be too hard to reproduce inhouse.

I concur with what you are seeing. Apparently the wonderful DRM security EA has made Bioware include is only securing paying customers from being able to play the game they legitamately paid for.
And i would be more than happy to do a GoToAssist to help the engineers see this problem that apparently their comprehensive testing didn't reveal....
