EDITED TOPIC

I would like feedback, that did I understood the ending right? Of course you can comment on what you want.

I admit that I tried the ending from many angles to get the big picture. Here is the summary:

1) You can always just fight the Imprisoned One when speaking to it the first time.

2) Agree to help it and get joined revenge on fallen helmites, who deceived you, this according to the Imprisoned One.

3) Perform the ritual (80 000 EXP per member) and seal it, and no suprise, yourself to the keep. After that accept its help to escape and promise to free it.

4) Seal it and roleplay playing rest of your unnatural life eyespy with the Prince of Demons :)

I go unraveling these options from number 3.

After sealing the keep, you can't get out and have to accept its help to free yourself and it. Now, once outside, you will have new options:

5) Actually lie to the helmites, they go in and ghostly apparition appears.

6) Not lie, but helmites venture in nevertheless and ghostly apparition appears.

7) Tell about your little deal with Demogorgon and accuse helmites of lying. Odren gives lame apology and
they go on pilgrimage to atone in the eyes of Helm (+1 rep and 10 000 EXP per member). ONE ENDING.

On numbers 5 and 6: Ghost, one of the guardian spirits appears and speaks of task almost finished. Odren and his group have fallen and Odren's fate is sealed in the eyes of Helm (Vigilant One and The Watcher). Ritual given by Odren repairs old seals and traps bot Demogorgon and the performer. This was Odrens duty as leader of the Knights of the Vigil.

Guardian spirit tells that Odren can't win and Odren's death will mean that Prince of Demons can escape from the keep to the Prime Material Plane as the ritual is tied to Odren and his life.

Guardian gives you three choices:

8) Fleeing as fast and as far you can, is better part of valor :P Odren will get killed and Demogorgon eventually freed.

9) Go save the knights and kill PoD, which will free it but only to Abyss, which is slightly better than let it ravage Prime material.

10) You can do as Helm wishes and use ritual now given to seal Demogorgon, Odren and thus "help" Odren to fullfill his duty. Dgorgon stays imprisoned, Odren has the fate ment for him and you get 25 000+ 80 000 EXP per member, Helms apology and blessing (good wishes).

OK. That was probably horribly confusing. Do I have everything correct?

BTW: I sealed IO, accepted its help to get free. Didn't lie to Odren but they (fallen helmites) went in anyways. Then did as Helm asked, performed Helms ritual and tried to imagine baboon with two heads :D + sayeth small prayer for the Knights of the Vigil.

Oh. I did kill Demogorgon once and found out it left behind nothing, you get 100 000  EXP per member and banished Prince of Demons looks like dead invisible stalker.

Small update:

Journal says when receiving Helm's ritual scroll:

...about using scroll...then the Imprisoned One's Lair will be sealed forever.

The script here has always bothered me, since the inscription on the bell says that Helm will show up in a tizzy if you free Demogorgy either by killing him, or just plain freeing him. But that never happens. I assume that detail got lost in a deadline rush to finish an otherwise excellent Watchers Keep????

If you seal the Imprisoned One and talk to it afterward, some dialog options will reveal that it thinks that besides accepting its help, killing it (and thus sending it back to the Abyss) will also allow you to escape because the seal will cease to function without the presence of the Imprisoned one. If you then fight it, this proves true.

That is what I ended up doing. Not only did I get both the 80.000 exp for sealing it and the 100.000 exp for killing it this way, Odren and the Helmites also live to tell the tale. Not to mention that it makes sense to repair the seal first, just in case the Imprisoned One proves too much even for a Bhaalspawn.

Actually the inscription says that should the Imprisoned One break free of his bonds, the bell will ring out warning to Helm and his anger will burn like the midday sun. And when you enter the place of imprisonment, the bell is already swinging, only soundlessly. There are also several open shackles. My conclusion is that the Imprisoned One already broke free of his bonds, but silenced the bell so Helm wouldn't be warned.

Also IIRC Cyric said that the Overlord, AO, had forbidden the gods from directly interfering with the Bhaalspawn.

Nice post morbidest.

Very nice post faeriehunter.

Good point. You can get nice amount of exp if you do a combo you descriped. I (Undead hunter) just could not release Demogorgon to the Abyss. Let it rot forever (at least as long that new way of release is found ;)).

As paladin I probably should have told the exact truth to helmites (about the pact with Demon prince), but I found it very lame option (no guardian, no explanations) and doesn't it mean that Demogorgon can someday escape after Odren (Odren's ritual was less effective) has passed away? This way justice is done -> Odren and other fallens sealed to the keep.

Helms ritual says the Prince of demons will be imprisoned forever.

About the bell thing: All I can say is that the bell is already swinging when you enter the cell and shackles are open as you said. + Plus PoD says he has been gathering power and would be able to escape some day after eons has passed.

I can never beat the demilich... he keeps casting imprisonment and choosing non protected party members... even if nowhere near him.

Aah, the demilich wasn't at the end, but...

Have you tried sending just fighter (the tomb doesn't require whole party) protected from undead (the protection scroll). Its so easy that it is cheesy

Hmmm makes sense... i thought it was whole party.

I could always send a fighter mage in with immunity from abjuration and damage buffer spells to kill it then.

The dragons in there were so easy too.

Also, you know that part where you unlock seals and then a party of 5-6 monsters attack you... i found that pretty akward... although in the end i managed to batter them with: Time stop, alacrity, dragons breath, breach, magic missile (spammed untill alacrity/time stop ends.

A really funny but very cheesy (though i sometimes can't resist using it, just for the hell of it) way of dealing with that group, is loading the area with traps. Let you thief place Spike Traps and your mages place Skull Traps. For even more fun: summon a Simmy and let it place Skull Traps too. A couple of the npc's that spawn have high magic resistance, so they sometimes resist the skull traps. But generally, all you'll hear is laughter, then some screams and then silence. After which you can simply collect the loot. Cheesy as hell, but incredibly funny.
