Where the hell are my options?? Why force me? Why can't I play the game like so many great bioware games before this huge step backwards????
And yeah you are damm right im mad... One of the last great developers of CRPG's has gone downhill and started producing adominations like this.....
because they didn't make the game for you? They made the game they thought would be great. Apparently they met the taste of many people. Not yours, obviously, but they never had any obligation to do so to begin with.
Also: if i may ask, what games were you working on?

That's what I've been reading these past few days. Ranters obviously feel the need to repeat themselves and each other ad infinitum...
from my experience of the demo, DA2 can be played in exactly the same pause-and-issue-commands tactical way as DA:O and other predecessors. I really don't understand all this nerd rage.

The combat is a joke, way to fast paced. If i wanted to buttonmash id just resub and go play WoW... Hell even WoW is much slower paced compared to this abomination.
Wait. Why are you even comparing Dragon Age to World of Warcraft? Either way, I personally love how responsive the new combat system is. You never have to 'wait' for something to get done--it just 'gets' done.
Since when is removing options good? You made the game super linear. Hell more then 60% of the game takes place in Kirkwall and lets be honest the one city is a huge step backwards not to mention that the only city you do have doesn't even feel alive.
From what I've seen, it doesn't look particularly linear--no more linear than all other BioWare games. BioWare games have always been 'go from point A to B--and have a blast.' If you want non-linearity, there are other games in this Western RPG genre for you. Like Fallout, or Oblivion.
With regards to the focused setting, this is 'far' from a bad thing. Ferelden was absolutely massive with so many disconnected stories. At the end of the day, what did the Nature of the Beast story matter in the grand scheme of things? Absolutely nothing--because the setting was so sprawled out.
Removal of skills and classes??? We used to have options I.e one could build a warrior that uses a bow n arrow or a mage that could wear heavy armor. All customization is pretty much gone. All skills have been dumbed down.
Morrigan in plate with a sword and healing spells. WHAT. That is all I will say to class item restrictions--they keep the defined classes, well, 'defined.' Also, there were no classes removed--there are still 3.
The skills have not been dumbed down, they've been 'smartened up.' Why did we have 3 spells for elemental weapons? Or a billion variations on 'shoot dude with single target damage'? They've been streamlined, and carved out as having their own distinct purpose. As well as being presented in a far more appeal manner: skill trees.
I didn't think i would say this buy Bioware you have fallen from grace and I'll be very careful to support any of your products in the future. Is this really what CRPG's are turning into??? Mindless hack n slash???
Proper CRPGs don't exist anymore. They're a thing of the past. They don't sell well. Hell, I don't even think I'd call Origins a proper 'CRPG.' Even it has been streamlined (for the 'console kiddies' *sarcasm*). I mean, you don't even need to keep your character constantly fed.

Having said that, if you wanted it to play like a PC game instead of a console game, then maybe you should have purchased it on the PC instead of a console?
PS. Obvious troll is obvious.

The skill web system is an improvement over DA:O. The Force and Cross class Combo mechanics are an improvement over DA:O. Tooltips have been completely overhauled, and information on skills and attributes is much more comprehensive. Those are the main reasons I'm intrigued over DA 2.vortexdr wrote...

Also, button mashing happens on console due to a manfacturation error, which they're expecting to patch in. You can still autoattack on PC. And skill spam is limited by skill cooldowns rather than stamina this time around, but stamina still plays a factor if you don't have a high enough base pool.
I still don't understand why the "middle of the road" companion customization mechanics, the camera will take some fiddling to adjust to, and I find the paraphrase system to be an abomination against nature. But so far, the improvements compensate the deficiencies in my perspective. And I am deeply aware of the deficiencies.
Also, calm down. Any validity your points may have is negated when you act as an entitled child rather than a mature adult.

Yeah, obviously a mature individual with years of experience in the industry.
That aside, I stopped playing Witcher exactly because of the excessive clicking and the game essentially being a borefest for me after a while (and I pretty much almost finished it on the hardest setting). I find DA2 to be more enjoyable in that regard.
So why did you come here? Do you want everyone who bought DA2 and was satisfied with it to create their own post? I assure you yours would be unheard.

The demo impressed me and I can't wait to play the full game.
Playing the demo sure felt the same to me as DA1. Sure it is faster paced in combat, but you get used to that pretty quickly.

See but thats the thing it's not just me....Bioware are pretty much alienating all their long term customers that helped build this company into what it is today...
And honestly I don't belive the devs really think taking options away is a good thing.... I blame EA and how their business model kills franchises

Honestly I don't even know where to begin. Compared to orgins this so called sequal is a joke. Im not sure what you guys were thinking releasing this. I assume EA pressure. I have been buying and supporting Bioware games since the days you released quality products i.e Baldurs Gate, neverwinter nights etc.
But that will now change and I'll make sure to tell everyone I know to stay away from Bioware products and leech them to try them out before getting burned by mindless hack n slash.
How do you guys honestly think that this is an upgrade from the first game? I would really like to know how this atrcicity is any better?

Obviously the 12-17 year old console kiddies will support this due to masses of blood but why alientate your long term customers??? I mean I have been supporting Bioware for for then 15 years and this is the straw that broke the camels back....
Aww, boo-hoo, poor little baby...cry cry cry.

OK: Here is the story.
Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.
Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.
We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.
Still want to claim that ?
As it stands the console version is one of the worst button mashers ever inflicted on us. It puts DW to shame, at least there you press different buttons.

But you know what? I'm 4 hours in and it's blowing my mind how much I'm enjoying it. It runs smooth in DX11 despite all the doomsayers, and the story and characters are pulling me in just as I'd expect from a Bioware game.
So, to summarize, change is -in this case- a good thing.

Come on friend, we can't do that! This is D-Day for the elitists and the trolls. Their last stand before everybody (including the aforementioned group) gets their copies and spends too much time playing to come here.
Let them have their fun I say!

funny thing is that I'm also an old gamer to predating even BG and all that and I find the evolution of games fun and entertaining. don't be an old fart sitting on your porch drinking PBR complaining about these danged kids with their newfangled games and how good it was in your day. Adapt or go away basically

Get off your high horse already. 'bioware are alienating their long term customers that helped build this company what it is today...' Don't you think you take yourself rather too seriously? Is the fact that you don't like the game really worth all this Righteous Indignation? And are you really sure that noone could possibly like this game? That's a bit presumptious, don't you think?
I am a long term customer myself and I for one am curious to see where Bioware's taken the genre.
