The funniest #$%!ing thing I have seen in a while.  Nail on the head.  Love the dramatic presentation.

Fair enough you like it, and i dont. But why not give us both options??? I had options in NWN, BG, FO1+2  why do you have to take options away???

They could of made a simple mode and a classic mode for instance....Do you really think having options is bad??

I don't think it's bad. I just think it's unrealistic to ask for it. A Game developer doesn't have unlimited ressources at their disposal. If you make every armor available to every character, you need to make sure that it fits. Which requires additional work and additional money.
In DA2, that money was used for other things.

BioWare made every single change I wanted them to make for the sequel of Origins - why wouldn't I support them for that?

ah! You're making sense now, accepting that it is possible that some people DO like the game. Rant over? Then let's have a mature discussion...

Huh??  I never said anything like that... Its obvious people like this style of game but these games are a dime a dozen...why change a succesful forumla?? DA:O sold very well and lets be honest there aint a lot of options for fans of the traditional RPG's ala BG or FO.

Why do I like the old style combat better??? mhmm I dunno maybe it is my age maybe its the fact that I loved the original xcoms and how they played out....Once again you had tons of options...

Love how the people who play the Bioware games on consoles are called kids and pc gamers are true hard fans.

Gotta love the bias and elitism feeling.

It's always funny to see some "veteran adults" PC players crying like kids because of few things they disagree with.Nice to see the irony that those who trust Bioware do not seem to be, at least for a majority,"longtime consumers".

You have facts to back that up right. It isn't one of those because I think it is so it must be so statements?I always like to see people crying about others crying.Just makes my day.

I don't need facts to back it up, i see that everyday over here.I saw more whining here than on any other boards. And a majority of complains are from PC players, who claimed;  just like this OP, to be the only Bioware longtime supporters.

It's not a gross generalization, you can well read above that i nuanced it.Fortunately not everyone(among PC player community) is like that.

Hell I dont even care that much about the armor...but for instance the tactical camera and the UI that is clearly taking huge steps backwards to make it appeal to consoles....besides all the code was already there.

Let me ask you this....Do you really think that the "updated UI" in DA2 is superior to the UI we had in origins?? Same with the tactics options....they removed stuff....didnt add to it...

Well... at least one of the reviews we know earlier is correct when it mentioned "Old School" RPG fans aren't going to be happy with the changes.

I don't get why people insist on saying this game is mindless hack and slash, it has the same mechanics and DA:O with different animations. sigh

OK: Here is the story.

Auto-attack option for consoles was added in to the games late in the development cycle after the initial certification build was sent. The auto-attack functionality was sent to be added to the game for testing and approval. This was why staff said it was in game.

Due to an error during mastering, the auto-attack file was omitted during manufacture.

We apologize for this. It was meant to be in game, but it is not currently in the console versions. We are working on how best to distribute this to console users. When we have information, we will let everyone know.

Still want to claim that ?

As it stands the console version is one of the worst button mashers ever inflicted on us. It puts DW to shame, at least there you press different buttons.

Last time I check you have to press buttons to use talents. If you want they could remove all the talents and just have you auto-attack? Would that be to your liking?

if you like the classic feel that DA:O had, the tactical combat and having multiple options...I would stongly suggest not to pick the game up...you will just be dissapointed and then come to the forums raging like me lol

I'm a massive BG, NWN and Fallout fan (note the orginal fallout not the **** from bethesda) and well I was expecting DA2 to be well a sequal to DA:Origins and it unfortunatly is nothing like it.

And ? In other games you use combo's rather than just hammer X like a one of those nodding bird things.

The two are not related, but if you want to act like they are, be my guest.

They removed the overhead camera to give them more freedom in the creation of the buildings, which to me is a good thing.
I haven't tried the Tactics-Options yet. What exactly did they remove there?
I don't think the new UI is superior, it's different and i will have to get used to it. But i also don't think it's inferior.

What i really like about DA2 is the Combat. In Origins, i only played Dual-Wielders (Rogues and Warriors) with Momentum active. Both 2h and S&S was way too slow. Now I'm actually looking forward to playing 2h-warriors.
Same with the Auto-Loot, something that was needed in Origins, is now included in DA2.

i could go on, what it comes down to is, that they changed a lot of things. I'm looking forward to most of them, i'm not sure how i feel about the rest.

Auto attack was a promised feature and one which was in the original game which people have been asking for and promised in the second in series which never made it into the game on consoles due to a Bioware error between them and master disc whoever they used if not done in-house. Just because you can be an ass doesn't mean you should. There is a world of difference between spamming a button 3-4 times a second as opposed to once every 5 seconds.

Console version ? Refund unless you want to risk RSI of the thumb. Although if you play a mage/archer it's no where near as bad a warrior/melee rogue.

Quite simply let me state this to the OP :
You may be a long-time customer of BioWare and work in the industry but quite frankly on these or any other forums --they matter NOTHING.

That said I've been playing BioWare games from Baldur's Gate 1 and haven't missed any. What you simply have to expect is that everything evolves. You can't expect games like Baldur's Gate to come out in an era where gaming has become as commercialized and widespread as now. You have to expect games that will have toned-down elements that are easy to understand for everyone.

There is a generation gap in gaming as well. You my friend might be experiencing something exactly of that sort.
If you recall, Baldur's Gate or any Infinity Engine RPG for that matter be it Torment or Icewind Dale were looked upon with disgust by some of the very old-school pen-and-paper D&D enthusiasts. They felt that by adding action and real-time elements they diluted the very essence of D&D. They couldn't see the beauty but we could.
For them Infinity Engine RPGs were "toned down" or "dumbed down" from what they believed D&D stood for.

Fast-forward 11 years and you'll find you and some of the other "veteran PC gamers" in those same shoes today. Just like anything you've got two options :"Embrace the evolving genre and learn to enjoy it" or "leave those games alone". It's frankly as simple as that.

Straw that broke the camels back? So far I have never been disapointed in any bioware games, I have yet to try da2.

But If you stop buying Bioware games due to one supposed failure, then you are hardly what one would call a solid, or even wanted customeer.

Get a grip, not every game is gonna appeal to everyone.
