I've been playing for about 5 hours now and got to a point that i thought i should probably save before preceding only to realize that the save and load buttons were faded out and i was unable to do either. I havent gotten any notifications about auto saving or anything either so im pretty sure my game hasnt been saved at all. Ive tried pressing F5 to quick save, and pretty much anything else i can think of and it wont let me save. I'de really rather not lose the last 5 hours of my time and have to start the whole game over.

Theres been a little grey circle rotating on the right side of my screen pretty much the entire time ive been playing and i havent really payed much attention to it, does this have something to do with it?

People with single core processors (like myself D:) haven't been able to save. It's stuck in a loop,so if you try to save manually, you'll have the save icon stuck on the right side of your screen. And if you try to save automatically, you won't make it past the second cinematic. There's another thread around here that can explain it better. The minimum requirements of DA2 do state that you need a dual core processor atleast. Of course my excuse can be that I pre-ordered that game in October when the minimum requirements were posted in January :P. I don't know if Bioware would be obligated to do a hotfix or not.

I can save. But then again I only got through the prologue before heading to work.

Mine are grayed out as well, also getting stuck in the loop. Just gotta wait for a fix to come out I'm afraid. This seems to be affecting all types: single cores and multi-cores, downloadables and disc copies, etc.

Well it does seem single core seems to be the problem. But yes they should be obligated to make a hot fix for it there is alot of players out there that use single core like i do myself.

I use single core as well, and that seems to be the bulk of affected people, but have seen some multi-core users being affected too. Works out for me I guess, got a midterm tomorrow so the lack of a distraction helps =P.

I have the same issues, single core, can't save/load. It stinks that the game plays fine but this sort of major issue ruins it.

I haven't heard anything about others besides single core that are having the problems with the saving issue i went to my brothers dual and it works fine.

Just looked at the minimum system requirements, and my pc meets them. But since I only have a single core, am I to understand that I will not be enjoying anything more than a dry run at DA2 until a patch/fix comes out?

They made a fix of ME2 when they weren't technically obligated to do so, I see no reason why they wouldn't release one for DA2

I have a quad core and am also experiencing this issue. Check this thread for a large group of us having the save issue. http://social.biowar...0/index/6408439

Man, I feel like a great big tool. Word of mouth was that I wouldn't need to upgrade to play the sequel, so I just glanced at the reqs when I walked the game home this morning... Tar. Nation.

You don't need to upgrade just have to wait for ea to make a hot fix for it sounds like its a good amount of people that are having this problem.

]I dont believe the problem has anything to do with any particular Processor per-se, I have a .....

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 CPU       X 980  @ 3.33GHz, ~3.4GHz

And my Load and Save feature remains grayed out.  I am unable to save or load my game, f-5 or f-9 arent working also. I believe most of us (PC USers) , if not all, are stuck awaiting a fix.

I'm not having any trouble saving on a Quad-Core but I just lost like a whole days auto-saves when the game was trying to auto-save as I entered a new area and locked up for the first time since I started playing. The only saves I've got left in my save folder are literally four levels back and 5 hours ago.

Hopefully they get this fixed soon.

Yep.  Single core save and load ghosted.  I was talking to one of the developers at work and he couldn't believe they would design it this way.  Just stop everything and do the save for 5 seconds.  Very good example of what happens when you do a half-hearted port of the console code.  Come on guys... do what you did with Mass Effect 2 and give us a single core patch.  That one effected the videos during loading.  Basically, they assigned the static videos to the secondary core which caused single core machines to lock.  When they produced the patch it made the videos run just as well as they do on a dual core machine.  This demonstrates that you really don't buy much by trying to use the secondary cores in many cases.  The player is busy watching the video (or saving the game) -- just have the computer do that.  Silly people.  Come on Bioware...where's the patch!?!?!

I dont think its a video loading problem. If you turn off your auto save, then you can play as far as you like, just dont save or you lock up on the next loading map.

so when will we know if they are even going to bother fixing this or is everyone with a single core processor screwed?
