Not saving in a RPG is not an answer. No way am I going to invest 40 hours in a game without a save. You might as well suggest playing Call of Duty multiplayer with a blindfold on.

I'm not having any trouble saving on a Quad-Core but I just lost like a whole days auto-saves when the game was trying to auto-save as I entered a new area and locked up for the first time since I started playing. The only saves I've got left in my save folder are literally four levels back and 5 hours ago.

Hopefully they get this fixed soon.

That is an extremely important piece of information, its the first time I've heard of somebody being able to save and then losing it. I'm going to copy this into the big thread.

so when will we know if they are even going to bother fixing this or is everyone with a single core processor screwed?

Its not a single-core issue, see dozens of people with multi-cores having the same issue.

Alright, I installed the game on my laptop. Works fine with dlc etc. I'm now thinking it might be a problem with language version. Has anybody experienced the problem on a non-English version?

My machine kills any game including Dragon age Origins and ALL its addons
My son got his xbox version boom he has been playing for five hours and no matter what I do
Re installs different drives nothing chanes it after you get through the first part then switch up to and join by your family the second it does that the save inicator starts endlessly spinning and save and load do not work including quick saves

This is rediculous.  Dual core cannot be required by a game.  All of our computers are more than capable (some more so) of what this game needs with a single core.  While single core may not be top of the line.. they are in NO way obsolete.

They need to get a fix out soon.

(same issue for me btw.. first save locks out all save/load actions and the icon doesn't disappear.  Resetting and loading one of these games crashes the game)

... In the meantime.. is there a program out there that makes anything that uses both cores use one instead. Basically forcing any program to work on singlecore?

This is the last time I'll write this because I'm irritated even having to do so again.

There are many people with multicore procs having this problem, which logically means it can't be a proc problem.

There was a guy on the steam forums who had this problem with a quad core. He said he fixed it by simply restarting DA2. I'm stumped lol

Dragon Age Origins had a console command "-singlecore" that forced it to use one core. I tried it with DA2 with no luck.

I have a triple-core processor and had the 'no save' problem initially too. Then I used an outside program (CPU Control) and found that my machine was only using a single processor to play the game. Once I used CPU Control to 'force' the game to use multiple processors, the saving problem went away for me... I realize this doesn't help the folks with single core processors, but it might be an alternative for some dual+ core gamers to waiting around for a patch/fix...

There's a post in another thread in the forum by a Bioware employee saying they've isolated the problem and they're working on a fix. He didn't give an ETA, but recognition is a step in the right direction.

they dont care already got our money. then they will say single core users dont meet min system requirements even though most of our single core processers are more powerful then the 1.8 gig dual min. thats just how it is now. release asap then spend next 2-3 months patching to make game work like it should.

I can't save my progress either.  Does anyone else having this problem have a spinning icon on the right side of their screen.  It looks like heraldry and it looks like it is loading something, but it never goes away.  It shows up just after the prologue when you should be able to save.  I've played the game on a computer where it allows you to save and that icon/loading thing isn't there.Image IPB

I dusted off my wife's old single core machine and was able to reproduce the problem last night.

The problem is the game cannot save. This presents itself as three symptoms:
--You get a perpetual "saving" spinner on the right.
--Your save + load options are greyed out in the "escape menu"
--You will hang on the next transition after a save is attempted (which for most people is at the end of the blightlands, because the initial autosave is still trying to save).

Programming is working on the problem now. I don't have an ETA on a fix, but we have been able to recreate it, which means we can work on fixing it now.

If you have a multi-core machine, please check to see if the game is actually using them.   Please see the post made by your fellow users:

More then likely we will have to keep checking site. I don't think personally that the game will auto update. Then again i don't really know I'm not a employee for bioware/ea
