Post will most likely be made. Not to mention this thread and the "Can't get past loading screen" thread will be bumped constantly.

Yep, me too. Not that it makes any odds but I have a tri-core Phenom & I can't save at all. | get the lil spinney symbol on the right of the screen during an auto save or a manual save, then when its done it goes away, which is as you'd expect. Then when I check the saves folder in my documents.....nothing zero, zip, nadda. Does anyone know of a fix available yet ?

Don't ask us in here. We're game-players, exactly as the forum description tells you. We have nothing at all to do with official support. Not us.

People with single core processors (like myself D:) haven't been able to save. It's stuck in a loop,so if you try to save manually, you'll have the save icon stuck on the right side of your screen. And if you try to save automatically, you won't make it past the second cinematic. There's another thread around here that can explain it better. The minimum requirements of DA2 do state that you need a dual core processor atleast. Of course my excuse can be that I pre-ordered that game in October when the minimum requirements were posted in January :P. I don't know if Bioware would be obligated to do a hotfix or not.

At the time, I suspected the above supposition to be in error.  It never happened to me, although I have dual core CPUs.  I wonder what other archives, of a more recent nature, might show?

OK, that was replaced by another, official thread:

Just looked at the minimum system requirements, and my pc meets them. But since I only have a single core, am I to understand that I will not be enjoying anything more than a dry run at DA2 until a patch/fix comes out?

That was a misstatement.  The requirements are these:

      Minimum:

OS: Windows XP 32-bit with SP3
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2
      OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB (should be 2600 XT or X1800 GTO)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB cards (unless this should be
           Geforce 7800 GS)
Disc Drive: DVD ROM drive required
      Hard Drive: 7 GB
Sound: Direct X 9.0c Compatible Sound Card Windows Experience
           Index: 4.5

Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards
have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other
performance issues. As such, they are not officially
           supported in Dragon Age II.

That clearly says the required CPUs are dual cores.

Multi-core CPU owners using Windows Vista and Windows 7 needed to reinstall in XP compatability mode. Not sure what ever happened to the below requirements CPU owners, if any work-around ever surfaced.

Yup.

My game has been doing this since I downloaded the second item pack dlc.  It was fine before, but now it hangs for 5+ minutes on the saves and loads.  I've tried pretty much every "fix" that I've found on this forum and others, and nothing is working.  I started a thread about this about 2 months ago, not realizing that this was an ongoing problem.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/300/index/8255545

At the time I thought I had it figured out, but the situation just seems to be getting worse.  The game is pretty much unplayable.  It took me 8 hours to get through MotA because I had to sit around for 5-10 minutes at a time, every time it saved, or I had to load.

I'm getting seriously frustrated. :crying:

Just to clarify, DA2 does not officially support single-core machines and was not designed with single-core machines in mind. We found and fixed a single-core save-game issue as a courtesy shortly after release but the minimum spec for the game remains dual-core or better. We have no plans to address further single-core issues at this time.

Sorry,
Rob

I personally have a quad...it's still doing this, so it's not a single-core machine issue. At least, not for me.

I don't recall, did we confirm that you installed outside of Program Files and ran the install in XP or Vista Compatibility Mode. Win 7 does odd things with some of its folders, forcing you to be Administrator and other stuff that made Vista so unusable (I have Windows 7, but not for my games machine).

I think you need to divorce yourself from this thread and the assorted errors within. Please start over, fill in the usual complete problem report information (as per the Sticky), and let's see if anyone can spot anything that's not right, or at least get fresh air inside a clean thread.

I already had.  It's in the post 3 above yours.

But I'll bump it up, so you can see it.
