OK. What I did (since I was getting the same error on both demo and retail-bought physical copy) was go into the device manager and disable the floppy drive, which cost me nothing since my scratchbuilt has no floppy. I've tried both the retail and demo, and no "open bay" error.

Maybe this might work for others as well.

Oh, forgot to mention. DX11, GTX 460 with beta drivers (so no broken-up scenery), Phenom II x4 925, 4 gigs of RAM. Win 7-Ult-64.

 I have the same problem.

Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Steam version run with high res texture pack.

I won't be able to test DX9 vs DX11 until later tonight.

One thing I did notice is I set it to full screen mode, but after getting the drive errors it puts me back into windowed mode.  I have to go into config and set full screen mode every time.

Ah, thanks.  I'll have to try that out when I get home.

Add another to the list of people with this issue. Windows 7 64-bit OS, Signature Edition hard copy bought from Gamestop, have a DX 11 capable system but makes no difference to the bug whether I try running DX 11 or 9, and as a result the game isn't obtaining my registered DLC (though it does say I'm logged into my account). Tried all the normal firewall/administrative authority tweaks to no avail.

Edited to add: Saw the suggestion to disable the floppy drive through device manager (though I too am running a custom-built with no floppy drive in the first place) after posting, tried it and the error pop-up is finally gone when starting up the game, though DLC still isn't registering.

I get the same "Drive not in use, Door May be Open A:" error on my computer when I run the game.
Game works if I just click "continue" and no issues with the DLC.

Digital download from EADM.

Windows 7 Pro 64Bit using DX11 and high res textures.

No external/virtual drives. There is no floppy drive or A drive on the computer.

Try going into your Device Manager and disabling drive A if that's the one giving you trouble... unless you do use your A drive.

Getting similar error. "Please insert disk into Drive A:". I do have a floppy drive.
If I hit Cancel the game continues normally.

I checked and it only happens in DX11 mode.

Steam version
Vista x64

I recommend you all update your DirectX to the latest from Microsoft to see if that works:

DirectX

This could be a bug from Microsoft since it seems to be related to which rendering libraries its referencing.

I recommend a reboot after installing it.

Could be the old programmer is using a static referenced DRIVE such as X:\\ which most people don't have to start looking for libraries, then when it fails it goes to the first drive thats in the pool of letters.  A: and B: whether physically installed or not, those two are reserved by Windows so its probably giving you the pop up message while it is only trying to peak at the drive.

Those on STEAM should Verify the Games Cache as well just to make sure there were no hiccups in the game downloading.  Even one bit of bad data can cause problems.

i used the EADM and get these driver A messages. Also no drive A on my cpu since custom. i can play but in a window that is perhaps 1/3 of my screen. really takes away from the immersion.

I mean, disabling that extra drive might resolve the issue, (I haven't checked it) but that is not what one would expect, when you pay $59.99 4 months before the game actually goes gold. I don't want to have to disable my 19-in-1 card reader to be able to not see an error when the game starts, after months of waiting.

edit: Unles of course this is an update issue (like having to update directx or something similar)

Windows Vista 32 Bit
Retail Signature Edition

I was having the disc drive issue with the demo as well, I first went and uninstalled my virtual drive for a moment, that did nothing. Secondly I removed my ghost floppy drive through my BIOS. I booted the game without the issue popping up at all, no other settings or changes were made before the post floppy removal boot, so I'm fairly sure its part of the issue. Hope this helps anyone else with a ghosted drive issue!

Where are 11.4 drivers for ATI? The latest one is 11.2 according to: http://sites.amd.com...on_win7-64.aspx

Sorry for delayed response. Don't have a floppy drive and disabling it in device manager didn't change.

My error currently says either:
There is no disk in the drive. Please instert a disk into drive \\Device\\Harddisk3\\DR3.
or the same but with:
\\Device\\Harddisk4\\DR4

Disk Management does not list anything like these. It has C:, D:, E:, and System Reserved.

Not sure why, but it seems to start up whenever logging into an account, whether that's automatically upon entering main menu, or manually logging in myself.

If I delay clicking continue on the pop ups long enough, the game will give me a 'could not log in' error.

EDIT: Digital Signature Edition; EAStore

Rebooting seemed to have fixed it, not sure if the disabling mentioned at the top did this or not.

Same problem as above poster. Only happens when trying to login to EA account in the game.

Not only that, but I do not have a floppy OR a "Drive A". So in other words, there's nothing to deactivate and I'm not flipping going to modify my bios to play a game. F-that.

I can also tell you that using DX11 beta driver that apparently fixes a number of inexcusable issues doesn't help, either.

I have the same issue. Sometimes the screen just goes to black. As far as I know, it only happens when I'm using DirectX 11. I bought the SE edition from Impulse via digital download.

In addition, I'm automatically reconfigured to run in "windowed mode" against my settings of full-screen.  Why that's connected, I have no idea...

Funny thing is, I didnt have an A: drive until I loaded the game.
I'm having the same issues. Windows 7 64 version Using a ATI 5800 graphics card.
The error keeps happening when I try to log onto dragonage servers. If I cancel and play it's fine if I try to log in it tells me to do something with my supposed A drive.

So, I went into my system, and disabled this brand spanking new A: drive that came from no where, and it fixed the problem, I now have access to my downloadable content and the such.
Brilliant.
