If I set it to "DirectX 11 (if available)" Then the game crashes as soon as it is launched. I have a GeForce GTX 275 with 869MB dedicated video memory and 2683MB available video memory. From what I understand, I'm not allowed to have Very High textures if I don't have DirectX 11, because, you know, texture size is all about the software version.
So that means if you don't have one of the newest video cards, you can't play in anything better then Medium graphics, not because your card can't handle it, but because of poor programming.
I'm here asking for a work around. If we have a DirectX 10 card, we should be able to play AT LEAST in High Graphics without the game crashing on start up. I have yet to find a game this card can't push, don't let it be this one.
DirectX11 or DirectX9? No DirectX10?

Update your driver man. I had the exact same card and the exact same problem and I downloaded the newest driver and the game now launches.

Used to have a GTX 275 which is DX10 compatible. Just select DirectX11 renderer, but choose the HIGH settings (not very high), then it'll be DX10 (they didn't pout DirectX10 as a selectable renderer. But I tested it and my tool tells me it runs in DX10 mode when selecting High details instead of very high.

Sorry about previous post... I misread the OP. You already tried High. Only thing I can think of is install the beta drivers OR redo a clean install? Loved my GTX275 (great card).
Anyways, hope you get it working soon. Good luck.
