I found this game to be meh at best. It felt to stremlined for me. Also, give me ONE good resone to not be able to talk to yours partymembers at will? It's stupid and nonsens. And tell me why is the desgin of the game so F***king bad! It's looks so waterd down. And don't ge me started on the ending.
Bottomline: Make DA III more like DA:O and not like THIS! Rant over.

C-

A pathetically lazy disappointment.

A more appropriate title would be "Dragon Age: BM."

I'm not sure whether the BM should stand for "bare minimum" or "bowel movement" though.

I would be interested in hearing from a Bioware, who could perhaps comment on this one issue. They must be reading all this feedback? Bioware, come and stand up for your product!

There has been. I can't find the direct quote to hand, but it was essentially 'Really? We didn't think anyone would mind!"

Edit: Which is obviously a load of balls. They should at least have the decency to come out and say 'we were running out of time, and it was the only option available to us. If we'd had more time, we would have done things like reduce the mini-map sections to show only the parts of the map in use, diversified use of props, etc."

At least then it gives some sense of awareness of how to improve their game, As it is, they just come off as stand-offish and naive.

Tbh Bioware have lost a great deal of my repsect over their handling of the entire project a comment like this is not what i expect from a large and generally well respected developer.

This comment is just another in the vein of "Its my game Ill do what I want" "we are going in our own direction"... whilst copying aspects left right and centre. and my personal favourite the imfamous "Some have horns...." subject not just the logic behind it but the full on sulking when people raised a few questions about it

Story: I liked the premise of the story "the whole rise to power in a city thing" as well as the sense of politics that are going on between the mages templars, and qunari.. Even so Every quest was told in tiny 5-10 minute chunks. You have a dozen active quests at any given time, and if you didn't have a codex you would never even know if you were doing a side mission or one of the main missions. There were no long drawn out missions like say the deep roads from origins or the mage tower. The game needed 2 or 3 really good 2-3 hour missions. Not a few dozen five minute missions. Basically with the story the concept is good but the pacing is poor. Very poor even, considering what bioware is capable of.

gameplay: On normal this game plays like crap. Just tap the A button and you will very rarely lose. On hard and nightmare It is an enjoyable combat system. The branching skill trees are an improvement. The new dialog wheel is a small improvement. Almost no sense of exploration is a disappointment

Graphics: The character models have improved quite a bit and the animation is better for the most part. The tiny city of kirkwall where 95% of the game takes place is boring and unimaginative. It should have been at the very least 2x larger. There was more real estate in the first 5 hours of origins than in this entire game. Funny thing is the quality of the environments was a concern of mine about Origins as well. Poor environments all around. Definitely an area you need to stop ignoring. Setting is key in any rpg, especially a fantasy rpg. Also I think the hurloks look like skeletor from he-man which I didn't like.

I will say that I liked the character design in this game better than origins. Isabella, varic, fenris, all good characters. Didn't like Anders at all. Still I don't think anybody tops Ogrhen. Oh and nothing against homosexuals but does every elf in dragonage have to be gender confused. I didn't mind how it was handled in dragonage origins but in da2 it just seems over the top, border line obnoxious.

Lets not forget the bugs of which there are many. My second playthrough got about 10 hours in and realized that a quest that I initiated hours earlier was bugged and was also a main quest and thus broke the game. I had to start over. That was the worse bug I've run into but there are others. The tactic system bug where saved tactics stay in your ability slots when you respec, and also the bug with aveline where you unequip and re-equip a shield and your armor keeps going up. Oh, and the fact that none of the achievements for the sebastion dlc work. That leads me to believe that you should hire me as a play tester asap. Or at least hire "A" playtester.

I think DA2 is a really good game actually, but it was also one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. I was expecting an epic.

I am a massive DA:O fan and would love nothing more than to say Dragon age 2 is an amazing game, well done bioware. However it is a average game filled with bugs, boring companions and npcs, recycled areas, recycled music from origins, useless items and was just a clear effort on behalf of bioware/EA to capitalise on Origins success by making a mediocre game in a short time to maximise profits. I wont purchase any dlc for DA2, not because im taking some sort of stand, but because the core game is so average no amount of dlc will improve it. and why is Kirkwall so damn DEAD?  It's an empty shell of a town with absolutely nothing to do in it.  There are no NPC's to interract with, no extra fun activities to do.  It's the most boring environment which feels stiff and generic.  I don't even go to the stores cuz they offer mostly generic crap that I get during quests.

Background

Played on PS3 for two full playthroughs as a rogue(hard difficulty) and as a warrior (normal difficulty) and most of Act one as a mage (hard difficulty). Paid about $30 USD since I traded in Fable 3 towards the purchase of Dragon Age 2.

Summary

Dragon Age 2 has some notable improvements including making the combat more involving if not necessarily better than in Origins, far fewer useless abilities, an attempt [albeit a failed one] at telling a character centric tale instead of a gradiose sprawling adventure, and generally better performance as far as stuttering goes. Overall though, I am very disappointed and unstatisfied after playing through the game and trying futilely to change any of the outcomes of the major events, not to mention frustrated after encountering numerous bugs and glitches.

Score: 2 smilely faces out of 5
:(

Positives

-The main questline in Act 2 is one of the highlights of the entire game. There are a number of missions that don't seem to be directly related to the main quest in that act but are still quite entralling nonetheless and end up having an impact on this act's Big Bad's opinion of Hawke. Of special note are all the quests involving a certain chantry member.

-Companions are one of the other major highlights in the game. The banter between (most of) the companions, between the companions and Hawke, and a fair amount of the companions reactions to in-game occurences goes a long way towards making up for not being able ask Leilana or Wynne to tell you a story or to ask Morrigan about her "mother."

-The combat is somewhat enjoyable which depends on no small part on what seems an unremarkable addition in the form of closing attacks. This only helps  melee fighters obviously, but being able to do something other than slowly make your way towards the enemy line, which is often composed of numerous ranged attackers, does help reduce the frustration that you can get while fighting foes with better positioning.

-The art style, barring a couple of aberrations/abominations, is beautiful and distinct. This is in huge contrast to the art style of Orgins which while not bad was not all that memorable either. I especially love the redesign/realignment with the lore of the Qunari as well as the design of some of the unique weapons (e.g. The Vague Blade).

Negatives

-Bugs. Hordes and hordes and hordes of bugs, glitches, and exploits. I completely understand that producing problem-free code is pretty much impossible, but the bugs affect every single aspect of this game. Everything in the game is impacted from the sequence of the quests, to the quest being able to start or to be completed, to difficulties targetting enemies, to abilities that do not work, to tactics that go ignored by allies, etc. I do not exaggerate that it is utterly shameful the state in which the game was released.

-The character centric story as it was executed in this game was more than a little underdone. Spending ten years (really seven) with the same main character could have been a nice change of pace of from always feeling like the world is full of incompetants that through some major miracles all made it to a mental and physical state that is suggestive of adulthood. "Could have" being the important words in that statement. Those "years" could easily be turned into months considering that nothing really happens or rather Hawke does nothing inbetween artwork cutscenes narrated by Varric. NPCs do not age, areas do not improve or become more dilapidated, and Hawke apparently spends the majority of his or her time staring at the fireplace instead of say making gold or even spending time with his/her companions. In addition, after some vaguely important details are revealed (i.e. You are now a mercenary/thief/pawnbroker!), some period of time is said to have gone by and Hawke goes traipsing about Kirkwall chatting in a friendly manner with NPCs I've never seen about NPCs I cannot meet or events that I never experienced. Its like the game kind of assumes that you will just take its word for it that Hawke "like, totally meet that somewhat shady dwarf guy before" when it almost certainly would have been better to allow the player as Hawke to actually meet the "somewhat shady dwarf guy."

-Examining the character focused story further it actually still appears to be the standard "pretty much everyone is an idiot so its up to you to save the world" story. One difference is that the "world" in this case is actually just Kirkwall, but the major elements of world-saving are still here. Gather a party of people with varied skills who for no particular reason join you and stay with you despite any good reason to do either. Take said party up against "impossible" odds to defeat the Big Bad before "something terrible happens." In fact you can view Dragon Age 2 as three separate games/mini-expansions that were, to a degree, crudely smushed together. Each one of those expansion ends with a face-off with the Big Bad. Act 1's "villain" is not really that important, but the prior statements can certainly be applied to Acts 2 and 3. On that note, my brother suggested that given the disconnected feeling that you can get going from act to act, each one could have featured a different main character with only minimal changes to dialogue or story.

-Hawke fails at everything. Its good that the game does something other than having every outcome go the player's way, however, this game goes too far. Every single decision or act that Hawke (and the player) participates in ends in utter failure. Hostage situations, business investments, spelunking, hell even simple meetings go bottoms up as soon as Hawke gets involved. Again I know that not all outcomes need to be all rainbows and flying griffons, but would it be too much to ask to feel like something good has been accomplished when the "Quest Complete" message pops up?

-There are still a number of useless moves regardless of class. For example, is there any use to Rush for a rogue? The cooldown is far too long, and there are leagues better abilities to use to get enemies to either stop attacking you or to stop attacking altogether. The move seems completely useless except you have to get it if you want to use Fatiguing Fog which is still useful in Nightmare. Another example is the warrior talent Turn the Blade as all it does is raise defense which even if the cap of 80% is reached does not mitigate damage by dodging or by glancing blows as much it seems it should, but you must get it if you want either Resilience or Adamant. Its not as bad as the "Mana Clash" situation was in Origins but a number of required talents/upgrades are less than helpful throughout the game or across difficulties.

Odds and Ends

-*Horrible cliffhanger ending*
-MacGuffins should never, ever be even possibly responsible for giving
major characters any of their motivation, especially if no explanation
is ever attempted as to why the macguffins have that effect. This is made even worse as the character in question already had plausible reasons for their actions.
-Dark skinned Hawke's face looks oddly spotty depending on the lighting. It makes playing anything other than a light skinned or pale skinned Hawke a less than pleasurable experience.
-Companions' hands look freakish.
-Cameo characters from Origins look...different, in a bad way.
-Mages seem to enjoy putting themselves into a bubble that lasts just long enough for Hawke and pals to fell all of his/her allies, leaving the mage all by its lonesome.
-Many non-talking NPCs can be walked right through.
-The star system thats used to rank items seems to be wrong the majority of the time.
-The unique look of the companions is nice, but having more than one outfit for the seven year period would be preferable to the current situation. Yes I know that some companion outfits change but thats really late in the game and then you're just stuck with that outfit from that point onward.
-Armor sets don't tell you want bonus they give until you equip them all and even then they are not all that usefull.
-Junk items might as well be turned into gold on pickup since they serve no purpose.
-Isabella needs pants now.
-Cannot switch between weapons without going to the inventory.
-No more dual wielding warriors.
-Dialogue icons give you an idea of what effect you will get when you select the corresponding phrase, except sometimes it does not work that way which kind of undermines the whole system (i.e. romancing the pirate lass).
-Still no flying griffons. I am disappoint.
- No one cares if Hawke is a mage, a blood mage, or a templar regardless of their respective importance to the story of the third act.
-Still do not enjoy going through a dozen or more loading screens just to talk to my party members especially if they are standing right next to me. Ditto for checking or changing a companions equipment.
-Companions seem far more critical to the plots of each act than Hawke. Not entirely sure if that was intentional, just thought it was interesting either way.
-Monstrous spiders are stunlocking jerks!
-Unique boss battles are repeated far too often.
-Ditto for caves and dungeons.
-Ditto for caves and dungeons.

Dragon Age 2 should have just been sold as a large expansion and titled New Beginnings. Because it barely has any connection with Dragon Age: Origins, so how can it be a 2? This is the most rushed, half-a job from Bioware *cough* EA sellouts *cough*. Act 3 is a complete mess with glitches. That is why Bioware is having the gamers be the testers right? Since you actually had a topic here in the forums for gamers to bring notice to all the bugs. And as we all know the Exiled Prince DLC has to be redownloaded, thanks Bioware. If you need new quality testers I would love to be paid to sleep on the job. The reuse of maps is absolutely horrible, evidence of a rush job. I had so much respect for Bioware before they were bought by EA. Were you in that much financial trouble that you had to sell yourself to the evil empire of the gaming industry?

I tried so hard to like Dragon Age 2. I put my faith in Bioware and trusted that they would deliver a good game, but they didn't. I didn't hate it, but I don't feel the need to play it. Mass Effect 2 I could play over and over again, but this game lacked heart. I beat it once and to be honest, I just don't have any desire to play it again. Anytime I try to, I feel like I'm almost forcing myself to and that's no fun.

I do not normaly review games or post many comments about games but seeing the downward spiral of many of my favorite games (Never Winter Nights) I feel abigated to say something; though in the end I dout it will have much impact.

The Good:
The cut sceens have improved from DA:O.
Your character actualy speeks is a plus.
skill trees have improved from the old linear style.
Map load times are much faster then DA:O.
Graphic vs Computer Resources has improved (DA:O sucked up a lot of processing for the graphic levels)
Emotion icons attached to dialog was nice.

The Bad:
The area's were small.
Game takes place in a city not a world map.
Party interaction (other then at the players house) were shallow.
Tactis were non-existant.
The play style was like a bad combo of rpg and hack and slash.
Areas were overused. There was no attempt to even hide that fact other then a closed door or 2. even the maps still displayed the whole area even if part of the map was blocked off to alter the combat area.
level up arrow took up 3/4s of the character icons so in a battle I would end up at the level up menu when trying to switch players.
Dispite the emotion icons the sample text when choosing a responce was missleading and many times I ended up saying heartless things when I was though I was going to tell a joke.
1 main character voice. I know it is alot of space to record sevral voises for the main character, but 1 voice with pitch and frequentcy changes would have worked and gave players a bit of an option.

The Ugly:
I know graphics are not everything but if you gave graphics a number value it would look like this...
DA:O=1 : Standard =2 :: DA2=1.5 : Standard=3
2D graphics such as menus and icons were so simplified they hurt my eyes.
No character select background.

Other thoughts:
Probly some other stuff that I am forgetting but most of it is bad...
Multiplayer is still a hot topic. Some people thing that adding multiplayer will draw away from single player, but many games are set up like this and what they do is give you the option to replace a NPC with a friends character by LAN or through a online "room" system. I think the real reason for no multiplayer is the need to pause on the console version but there will be no need to pause on the PC. PC gets limited by console yet agian.

I give the game a 2/5. This would be an average game by any other name but putting "Dragon Age" on the box is an insult to DA:O.

Im starting to see a bit of Activision here. Take a good game, slightly update it while removing everything people liked about the first game, ignoring your base players by dumbing down the game for consoles, and then charge an arm and a leg for what is little more then an expansion pack.
If EA is trying to get you to push out games, then stand up to them, or take a page from IW and quit and make another studio.
If it is you making all the mistakes then do what Lionhead needs to do and stop making games lol.

PS. The ONLY reason I bought this game is that I had a 50$ best buy card that was over a year old. I would not have bought it otherwise.
SERIOUSLY! YOU NEED TO PULL A MIDWAY/NETHER REALMS AND DO A "FAN SERVICE" GAME.

well... played through origins 4 times = 200+ hrs.

dragon age 2 had its moments, but i had to force myself to start a 2nd playthrough, only cause i wanted something more for my money. now im at the beginning of the 4th year and i really have no more motivation. and thats normally a sign for a mediocre game. here are some rpgs that left me with the same feeling: Gothic 4: Arcania, Risen, Two worlds 1+2, alpha protocol, stuff like that.

ill keep it for a while, maybe im gonna finish that 2nd playthrough for some GS, but then sale + no DLC for me. sorry bioware but you gotta bring up something more if you wanna keep your exceptional image.

SONOFABITTCH!  MIDGAME I TOLD MYSELF "OK I HAVE TO GRIND THROUGH THIS BORING BUGGY CRAPFEST AT LEAST ONCE, HOPING FOR SOME KIND OF A SATISTYING ENDING".  BUT NOOOOO, AFTER COUNTLESS HOURS OF CARBONCOPY QUESTS, TAKING PLACE IN CARBONCOPY DUNGEONS, AND HALF AN HOUR OF BUSTING MY MOUSE ON THE FINAL BORING BOSS, THE CHUMPS AT BIOWARE DECIDED TO "FINISH ME OFF" WITH A STUPID MISERABLE 1-MINUTE CUTSCENE, WORST ONE IN THE THE WHOLE GAME, WHICH LEAVES THE WHOLE STORY ON A F***KING CLIFHANGER!

THIS IS THE MOST UNSATISFYING AND UNREWARDING RPG I'VE EVER PLAYED!

BIOWARE OFFICIALLY SUX A&&!

P.S.
To call this game a sequel to DAO is a crime.  I never felt that this place and story had SOMETHING to do with Ferelden, the Blight, or the Grey Wardens.  We are only TOLD in the prologue that Hawke came from Lothering, but the game DOESN'T EVEN START IN LOTHERING!  The whole "sequel" part is just forced upon the gamer by means of empty words and codices.  And the few cameos of DAO characters bring NOTHING to the experience and also feel forced.  They could've called this game "Champions and Dragons" or "Bugs Bunny Goes to Kirkwall" for all I know, and people who never played DAO wouldn't even guess they're related.  CUZ THEY ARE NOT!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good
-Combat is fun, maybe a tad fast but fun, each class feels very different.
-Companions- generally very good (although Anders was much better in DAA)
-Voice acting
- Writing was generally good.
-story- had its moments, happy you bravely didnt choose a young hero saves the world from destruction clone story.
-Having more choices for non straight romances.(thumbs up gaidar)

The Bad
-Exploding blood balloons in battle- silly and overused, let that cool explosion mean something (ie walking bomb)
- Bodies disappearing to be replaced by cash piles- why not keep bodies lying in the dust, remember how cool Sandal looked in DAO surrounded by the piles of Darkspawn in the Denerim castle ? dont trivialize war and death, own it, let people feel like a murderer/hero.
-Talking to companions in their houses, was too odd, you walk around with them but inside their house they act like you havent seen them for ages, I preferred the "camp" in DAO method. Their interactions with you only came at prefixed points, didnt feel as organic as the freindships in DAO.
Companion armour being non changeable, I get where you are coming from by making each character distinct, but that could have been done in a much better way- giving us the freedom of choosing but putting 2 or 3 outfits that are companion centric that are better than other armour.
All missions ended in bloodshed, I wasn't able to defuse one situation by talking at all.
UI -  looked a bit like a modern airport, no flare,  could have been a scifi racer game ui.

The UGLY ( 2 things that impacted on the whole game in really negative way)
Limiting the story to Kirkwall and one beach, one cave etc. Really destroys replayability and DA2 loses the epic feel.
Choices- they meant nothing really. Siding with mages and annoying the templars at every single opportunity- mages still attacked me. siding with one side should change the story a lot more as it unfolds- this adds to replayability as well. . It all just felt more predestined/fixed  than dao.

I really hope Bioware takes all this positive criticism in this thread to heart, Bioware had the only team style RPG with great story, voice acting intellectual property in the industry and they are destroying it with this rushed botched job. Come out with a great(not awesome:) really decent length expansion pack that appeals to the rpg base (customizable companion armour, more real choices, more exotic locations) and make a toolset and you can repair this situation. Bring out 50 min linear with no replayability DLC or alternative companion appearance DLC and watch the RPG crowd walk over to the Witcher and TES franchises.

Normally I'd post in the registered game sections and so on, but had decided to rent this game via Gamefly before deciding to buy it or not. While DAII definitely didn't make me want to rush out and buy it after the rental, will probably end up still getting the game of the year edition (if there is one) due to bugs being fixed and extras that could help make the game more... there.

I've always felt that Bioware's greatest strength was the characters and their interactions. Actual plots in past games have always been fairly unimaginative, or straight out simply borrowed from an already established fantasy world. Dragon Age II was...just a particularly extreme example of past molds, to me. Basically a tweaked Hero's Journey that didn't really go anywhere, decide anything that had any real effect on the game, and became repeatedly disconnected from what was going on between characters/plot due to the time skips.

It's a decent game, but it could have so easy been great if just implemented a little differently. :(

Didn't mind the whole being practically dropped in the middle of a fight at the very beginning, with not much to go on about Hawk's past and his/her family. It causes a confusion that pretty much fits the in-game situation. Yet, instead of capitalizing on that unawareness to create a sense of urgency and threat, I was instead treated to clownish cutscenes over the fate of certain characters.

By "unawareness" I mean a common tactic used in a lot of  horror games. The player can't see or even really knows what may happen next, only that there are creepy monsters out there that'd like nothing better than to rip your character into tiny bloody pieces and will wait till you're not looking to finally attack. There's probably a more technical term for it, but can't currently remember.

Instead of a tutorial mode that kills any possible serious threat the darkspawn might have had to Hawk and so on, you could have simply started with Hawk and co near a burning Lothering, with a massive horde of darkspawn heading your way. Far too many enemies for any single character to stop and fight in any flashy way and somehow expect to not be completely run over, much less hope to slightly slow the horde down. The only way to survive is to run as fast as you can, though one of the people your character is running away with is an older woman who certainly isn't used to running for great distances. She pleads to you and the others to slow down pace, to maybe find a place to hide, but it's clear that slowing down would mean death... and that is when the player finally finds out that this older character is Hawk's mother.

So, then, what is the player to do? You only have a very limited amount of time to make a (Heavy Rain dlg timed method possible style) choice, since while your character hasn't personally been attacked yet, you have seen others be dragged away screaming into the night, as well as the snarls and heavy steps of the horde close behind you.

Instant moral, actual roleplaying choice rite thar. With all the urgency and danger that the beginning of the game really should have had that was lacking, to me.

Then there were the timeskips, where the player is just told what happens to Hawke and so on with absolutely no real input from the player that would happen no matter what choices were made. This is something that could have easily been fixed, with even something as simplistic as the method those Persona games use: Give the player a short list of options of what you want your character to do during the timeskip. Want to focus on studying magic? Work on your character's sword fighting? How about an option of just spending more time with the romantic interest or family? And so on. A focus on better fighting and spells would mean taking a small hit to party interaction, though gives bonuses to what was trained in. Choosing to make it a point of spending time with an npc means while the relationship with that character would improve, Hawke wasn't getting any more skilled.

But most importantly, to have what changes taken place during the timeskips to then be reflected in the game world and characters. I didn't want to be told of all the great (or bad) things that happened, I want to be shown. And, not to just be shown, but have a certain level of interactivity. It's supposed to be a game, after all, not a badly put together movie.

While I did have gripes with other aspects of the game, a great many others have already brought them up, so I don't feel yet another reiteration is necessary (multiple spawning waves, constant reused maps, etc etc.).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Bioware pass on KotOR 2 basically because they would've had to rush it? What has happened to that mentality? Don't they care anymore?

I am a massive DA:O fan and would love nothing more than to say Dragon age 2 is an amazing game, well done bioware. However it is a average game filled with bugs, boring companions and npcs, recycled areas, recycled music from origins, useless items and was just a clear effort on behalf of bioware/EA to capitalise on Origins success by making a mediocre game in a short time to maximise profits. I wont purchase any dlc for DA2, not because im taking some sort of stand, but because the core game is so average no amount of dlc will improve it. Bioware/EA sit back and watch real developers in Bethesda produce a real RPG in Skyrim, then learn from them and make DA3 something that is able to compete

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Bioware pass on KotOR 2 basically because they would've had to rush it? What has happened to that mentality? Don't they care anymore?

EA OWNS THEM.

I loved the story!.. But, lack of content felt like BioWare rushed the game to focus on Mass Effect 3 :/
So far the least favorite of my BioWare Collection :[

Cons for BioWare team to learn from:
After the 3rd play through the reuse of maps becomes ridiculous! Mass Effect 1/2 and Dragon Age Origins wasn't this bad.
Choices were not Choices. You could decline every quest in the game and you still will be forced to do them!

Please BioWare you are my holy grail company don't disappoint me like Square Enix.
This unpolished (Heavy Map Recycling)/rushed (Forced Choices)/unrefined (Obvious Bugs and Glitches) game has worried me on the future of the company as well as the future release of Mas Effect 3.

PS (POSSIBLE SPOILER?)
... I plan on Re-playing DA:O and kill 2 characters one (Via Defiling the ashes) If both these characters still pop up in DA2... Then I will be very disappointed that BioWare did not work on DA2 as much as ME1/2 and DAO....

What I like about the game is the faster combat and voice-acting but seriously the environments are waaaay overused you get bored after a while of the EXACT SAME city and dungeons. Also the costumes were too low texture for me and the story never feels like anything more than sidequests with a climax at the end of each act.

My opinion still stands. A dumbed down,
grossly oversimplified and hardly tested product is being greeted with
thunderous applause. Bioware knows they can continue such a process
because people will buy this crap ans ask for more
. Moreover people love
the idea ov cutting out more and more rpg elements form an rpg game in
order to make it more action oriented.

OH MY GOD LOOK AT THIS IDIOT! :

My only complaint thus far against this amazing game...

I
Needz MOAR! More cities, more story (at least give me a decent freakin
climax (nonsexual)), more DLC, just... MOAR plox!

Dragon Age for Dummies!

I definitely enjoyed it, although I didn't think it was quite up to par with DAO. I think they just rushed it too much. I liked the story. It wasn't as epic as DAO, and you didn't really have a final boss until near the end, but I didn't see a big deal there. I thought Hawke's overall objective was the driving force behind the story, and I felt it went along fairly well. Kirkwall got a bit boring, and the dungeon structures were overused. I hate that there was no descriptions to inventory, even junk items. Those kinds of things give a game like this alot of flavor. Combat was great. I thought it was a big step up. I enjoyed the companions almost as much as DAO, although I still like Wynne and Alistair a bit more than Aveline, Anders, or Varric. It wasn't amazing, but I was happy overall. I think some people are being a little harsh about it, which is not surprising, considering it's a sequel to a popular game.
