I remember how the dalish spoke and this just is not right. It's made the game drop a point or two in my book.

Copy/Paste this.
Playing on PC win 7 64bits.
I cannot give a deep review since im only about an hour in but so far i'm really excited. Can't wait to put some real time into it but now i have a truckload of work to finish.
The rogue's new combat sequences are really sharp! More fast paced. Brutal. I like a lot! Backstabbing is very satisfying!
My biggest concern is about the locked camera angle. It's too bad we can't tilt it sometimes since the zoom out is quite limited. But i'm sure this is something that can/will be fixed over time so it's not too much of a deal.
Congratulation to the team and thank you for the game.

Likes;
Graphics in general are a big improvement, including the new race models
Voiced protagonist is a plus
Fast paced action is great
Side Quests seem to have more depth than in Origins
Enjoy seeing me import be referenced multiple times
Dislikes;
Overly simplified menu's. I like to micromanage inventory
NO AUTO ATTACK!!! PATCH PLEASE!!
Crafting potions and runes at vendors rather than in the field:/
Overall I really enjoy the first 9 hrs I've played, playing as a Mage on my first playthrough and it's A LOT better than Origins Mages imo. I still miss the lack of inventory, especially when I want to equipt my party members with armor. Playing on Hard and I feel like there's no need to set up tactics, as we are all overpowered. I'm still enjoying what I've played, even though I'm a DIE HARD Origins fan with 100% trophies..

I could care less about my companions, what's the point, that uber-set of armour I just looted can't even be used on my Tank Companion. I haven't even bothered to upgrade their weaponry, and I've flown thru every engagement.
There is no strategy needed, just run in mashing the AAAAAAAAAAAAA with an occasional B, X or Y watching the same 3 or 4 character animations. Yeah that is totally awesome!!!!
If I had known what a lack-luster sequel this would be I would have cancelled my pre-order. Instead I feel lied to, cheated and ripped-off. Just like I felt with ME2. This is the last game I buy from Bioware/EA until it is in the bargain bin, or I see it used. I fear for TOR after playing this watered and dumbed down for the masses garbage. Oh and before I forget, thanks for waiting until the last minute to tell anyone about the AUTO ATTACK feature not being in game. If I had known it was not in, I would have cancelled my pre-order. This game is not worthy of the name Dragon Age.

Anyone who claims the game requires almost no strategy, and is merely a hack and slash RPG is deluded. The enemy AI is markedly improved, cross-class iterations have more depth and are more dynamic, you're not going to win your encounters unless you micro your characters, and the visuals are just more exciting.
As for character customization, yeah, i do feel a bit cheated when it comes to companions. There isn't as much weapon/armor customization. HOWEVER; as far as character abilities go.. there is quite a bit of variety. Added to all the new abilities/trees that the 3 basic classes get, every one of your characters will have his or her own ability tree, which is a nice touch.
Regarding skills... great change, lol (for crafting, atleast). The system is simpler, perhaps, but its not just a dumbing down. You're not going to have to buy thousands of lyrium dust for example, and clicking continuously for 10 minutes getting RSI just to supply your party for the next expedition. No more grinding, simpler system, wins. As for the other skills, coercion, stealing etc, yeah they're missed, I suppose.
The music and voice acting is great, and an improvement on DA:O. The visuals are an improvement - but it comes at a huge price, unfortunately. The tactical, birds-eye view has been removed. You can zoom out, but you can often not see the entire battlefield. Because they weren't confined by this top-view camera angle, however, the environments are much larger and have much more vertical breadth. The high-res texture pack is a nice touch, and the graphics overall are good. Death animations are a bit weird for some creatures, and the special animations have almost all been removed, except against boss monsters which can sometimes trigger special cut scenes.
The story so far hasn't blown me away, but it's been good enough to keep me interested. I haven't been impressed by the way they handle moving through time, for example your first year in kirkwall is condensed to a few sentences, but hopefully the journey through the 10 year story will make up for this. The backstories of your characters are largely hit and miss, in my opinion. You will have family members in your party, which is a great added element.
It's not a perfect sequel, and if you don't want considerable changes to the original DA you may, perhaps, be disappointed. But it is, so far, a great game in its own right.

Dislikes: I miss the lore descriptions in the gear; I don't like how I couldn't customize Hawke without choosing a different preset, Darkspawn still don't strike me a little minions of a rotting doom, and it looks like the console's graphics were still of a lower quality than that of a basic PC.

I feel like I haven't even really scratched the surface of what the game has to offer, which is good. One thing that bugs me is how easy hard is but then I get crushed if I go onto nightmare XD
My biggest *bad* surprise is how much I miss outfitting my team
My biggest *good* surprise is how little I miss the isometric camera, not that I wouldn't want it in DA3 ;-)

This game may just be the biggest disappointment of my year. The story pacing is awful, and it's surprisingly minimalistic for a story based RPG. Combat is bad, despite the removal of the shuffle, there's really no substance to moves. It's "push a button, awesome happens" rather than anything remotely tactical; I've been hacking and slashing through hard like clockwork.
What he said.
I really liked DA:O, and this just seems too far of a departure. It's almost like I'm playing the bastard child of Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance and DA:O. More hack 'n' slash, less RPG. I will keep it, as my daughter (12 years old...) loved DA:O and the "refinements" make it easier on her to play this installment unassisted. However, I am just finding the combat wayyyyyy too easy, and the game just seems unbelievably over-simplified.
The gore is immensely over-the-top. It is more of a distraction than an eye-catcher. I appreciate the splash of gore and decapitation/dismemberment every-so-often...but it's seriously excessive.
If I didn't feel like catering to my daughter, I'd return it for Crysis 2 or Homefront, without question. I hate saying that, as I am a real fan of Bioware's previous works...this effort just seems "phoned in". I will give it another "go" when I finish Red Dead Redemption and Dead Space 2.

Also, if you would permit me this generalization, a lot of die-hard DA:O fans who are claiming the new game takes no strategy seem to be the same people who optimized a dual wielding rogue/arcane warrior and just walked their way through the game. Strategy, lulzsrs?
lol really? Because a dual wielding rogue is the ultimate force and hence using one makes the game easy. You sir, are delusional.

After playing through DA:O/A the last few days (due to excitement for DA2) DA2 is nothing like the first game. Sure the spells are named the same and the story is similar, but thats were the similarities end.
Thanks Bioware. Better luck next time.

I get that it's supposed to be a part of the aesthetic feel *for the darkspawn* (which is fine, I really do get it and approve of the thought) but everything is lacking, everything is empty.
For all the words I have to say, both negative and the few positive, these were the first.

Pros: It...looks a little bit prettier?
Cons: Saves were not imported properly.
No auto attack shut off for console
Why can't we tweak Hawke's face?
Companions are...boring. Not interested in any of them. I talked to Anders twice and he was telling me that he couldn't hurt me or some such and I was like 'huh? I barely said two words to you!'
Combat is repetitive.
I find myself following the arrow from map to map. After giving it a solid five hours of listening to all dialogue, I started clicking through them because they're a) not funny and
I think the writing is pretty bad.
Why is this called Dragon Age again? It wasn't broke. You didn't need to 'fix' it. Taking my 360 copy back tomorrow, I've played enough.

I have a P4 running at 3.2 GHz running on windows XP with an Nvidia 9500 graphics card. Game runs fine on medium settings with anti-aliasing off. Graphics look pretty good on medium even though I'm still adjusting to the new art style - I really preferred the way things looked in DA:O - less cartoonish. No lagging frame rates or other tech issues so far.
Fights definitely feel more crisp and I'm (once again) enjoying playing a rogue. Mixed feelings on the dialog wheel - my character doesn't always say what I think she will, but the icons help. I would still prefer written dialog. The voice acting, while beautifully done, just doesn't feel quite right for my character which might be part of the reason why I feel much more distanced from her than I did any of my DA:O characters (including my self-serving b****** Cousland I'm using for my current DA:O run through). I'm hoping I'll feel more connected to my character as I get further into the game. Maybe the origin stories spoiled me in DA:O - I felt really invested in my characters from the very beginning. Anyway, game seems okay so far. Hopefully I'll get to play more tonight.

In the last few hours, I installed my game, textures and all DLC quickly and without incident. Game is running amazing, not to mention it looks AMAZING!! The Hi-Res textures give it an extra pop. I just really started getting used to the game play (short learning curve) and now I'm having a blast!! Love the combat, love being able to get out of the way of things, love the reactivity. Dialogues and the wheel (of doom) work really well and I like the voiced PC.
So once again I like what I like and I should never believe other people. Thank you to Bioware for making such a fun game - I'm sure to get hours of enjoyment and distraction from real-life out of it!!

Sure as hell glad I paid $59.99 for a nice looking case and a cool insert for the ME2 DLC Arrival. I just hope the game is better than that god awful demo. **** that was bad.

Graphics were fine. For as much as I refuse to play games that look "ugly" I'm not picky enough to point out specifics. Good is good/Bad is bad. If there were improvements made here I didn't catch them.
(Sidenote: Isn't the storyline > graphics anyway? FF7 fanbase anyone?
The skill system reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy X's sphere grid on a much smaller scale. I liked this change, it's something I'm already used to and felt like I could truly customize my character's skills as opposed to having to unlock abilities/spells I never used just to get to the ones I wanted.
I do wonder how much time was spent on the idea of having the main character speak. I was never bothered by my Warden being mute so I'm not impressed with this change and could have done without it. I still had to read tiny text to pick the dialogue options, seems like a useless feature imo.
Like Awakening, I miss talking to my party members. The banter doesn't seem at the same level either.
My overall opinion is it's a okay game if you've never played Origins.
It's truly unfortunate the Warden's story if finished. As I believe someone else has already mentioned, when you have a game that works and attracts a fanbase, you should give your gamers what they want - not what you want. I would prefer to have my Warden and original party members back—take me to Orlais, to Antiva, somewhere I've already heard of but never got to see. Hawke? Kirkwall? Doesn't Bioware understand we gamers are mindless drones that will buy anything and everything featuring the characters we love?
Slap Zevran on a box with a 100$ price tag and I'll buy it. I still won't buy DA:II.
