Video clipping issues(minor, happens during every few cut scenes - still irritating though).
Can barely read the text on my TV either. It's one of those old huge screen tvs. I know it's old, but I could read the text for dragon age 1 just fine.
Other than that... so far, so good.

Any comments on the upgrading system or Armor?
Upgrading system is nice. I kinda wished we could upgrade more of our party members. Or at least have a few more options like a new whole outfit. I dont need to have each piece like boots, or gloves. But a whole new outfit would be nice. You know, at a shop or something. I mean, it's okay, I'll get over it.
I'm also wondering about the runes. In DAO when you put a flame or frost rune on, your sword will glow fire or cold. But I'm not seeing those effects. Whats the point of having fire damage on a weapon, bit you cant see the effects on your weapon? Kind of weird. Am I missing something.
I like the toggle helm off/on feature. Glad you guys put that in.
The black emporium rocks. I like the ability to edit my character anytime. I found myself going back several times in Mass Effect and remaking my character over and over to get the right look. So thanks for that guys.

My only complaint is a minor one with art design.
Those ears are the worst thing I've seen in a long time.
Other than that? I love it so far!
I was kinda nervous about the whole "spoken main character" thing, but
Im enjoying the conversations a lot more now that my guy isnt just standing
there like a mute. I enjoy seeing/hearing the sarcastic tone provided, if I choose that
option.

Liking it so far. Not too concerned about this game trying to break out of RPG genre calcification, or dressing up my party. Still have to really get into the story. Hoping that it's main plot is not laid out from A-Z in the first 30 minutes like it was in DA:O and ME2.
On the FE side, I did prefer the DA:O achievements screen where you could see all the achievements at a glance. Scrolling through dozens and dozens of items on a PC feels painful.
I'm playing on Hard, just to be forced into more tactical decisions.
And I'm still downloading the Hi Res Texture Pack. Curious about how that looks. Dx11 was a bust. Keeps on crashing on my card. (known issue apparently)

Well, I got the PC version from the EA store as a download... and so far... it does not work properly. $60 - major disappointment as I haven't even gotten past character creation.
I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling... but... this sort of thing is very aggravating.

Started playing this game, and here's what I think.
I thought the graphics were good, the voice acting was good, but the fighting seemed slow... Can someone help me get to ferelden? I want to try out my Ser Isaac Armor..

SOOOOO many bugs already!! I'm playing the PS3 version and so far I have had one scene repeat twice, music and sound effects dropping out randomly in cut-scenes, and now, less than 2 hours in, a total freeze. Had to shut down. This is bull****. Did nobody play the final build before release??

Opening thoughts of the PS3 version:
Aside from a few techincal glitches (a freeze in the prologue and some problems opening a special chest...)
This is already a more emotionally investing game than DA:O. Having family that's so important to the main character actually LOOK like the main character is a huge plus.
The writing so far is great. Every character really has soul. Again, it makes connecting to the family members that much more interesting. I already care a great deal about what happens to these people.
The graphics? Huge improvement over the first. The faces in DA:O were so stiff and lifeless.... well not lifeless, but compared to these? When these characters look sad, they really do. When they smile you can see it in their eyes. It's awesome. Nothing to say of the graphics in other areas as well. I can understand people not being satisfied with most of the game taking place in Kirkwall. I haven't played enough of it yet to be an issue....
I'm hoping the technical issues can be resolved soon, but it hasn't broken the game (yet). In any case, those are my thoughts. Kinda bummed that I'm going to work tomorrow and have to go to bed soon. Really pushing it... I really want to play more.

I don't know where I have to post it , this is not first impression or review but this is the comment to developer and I don't see this kind of forum here .... . I hope they might see my little comment here.
_______________________
Bioware , please concerns my advice if you want your Dragon Age 3 to be the legends again like DAO. I will arrange the things that you need to focus by how important of its.
First is the storyline , It is more IMPORTANT than gameplay , If your story is linear or no any excitement , forget about gameplay. Even if the gameplay is very perfect fun but lacking good story will give you only 8 - 8.5 scores. You need to change your mind now , stop talk only about gameplay but develope story must be your MAIN OBJECTIVE.
Second is companions , they must be Memorable , that's it. You have to think hard about every companions that is it great enough to memorable ?, has unique character yet ? . I don't want "hey I want to help you" , or "I need your help" or just meet her at your journey like Aveline , or be your sister like Bethany. It's very simple , thoghtless. I'm sorry but I need to tell you that even Hawke base story is not interesting at all . What ? the Refugee ? , at the begins he run away from the darkspawns and his brother die by orge ? It does not feel sad at all. Actually It does not feel anythings but a linear story that everybody can guess. Compare to DAO , the origins has many class and every class has the good begining story that we want to know what will happen to him next.
I will stop complaining now , For this 1 , 2 you need a Great Great story writer and you should not prepare the game until you knowyouself exatly 100% that you has the best story and the best all of companions memorable in your hand.
Third , it is Gameplay , why you change the gameplay style of DAO. Ok , maybe you think it should be better that DAO , you think you need to develope the game into next step. But I will example you with the game name "Starcraft 2". As you seen , Starcraft 2 did not change anything about gameplay from
Starcraft 1 , and everyboby love it. For Diablo III as well , the graphic will improve but we all are know that the gameplay will be the same as diablo II. Do you know why Bilzzard does not change their gameplay style ? , It's because they affaid that if they change some of gameplay style , the fans might dislike it ? but if they remain the same gameplay as before. They known 100% that their fans will love.
In summary , I want to tell you that the game that HAD the great gameplay DOES NOT has to change its gameplay style .
We love to use tactics and pause and we love to think like strategy game or chess game , we want this game like this. Why you change it by your own idea ?
Morething I want to tell is the difficultly. Why you pull down the normal difficult ? If you want the game more easliy , you should add easy opition , very easy option or super easy if you want to. But normal must be CHALLENGING , If you cannot fight then you go to easy or very easy. Hopefully in Dragon Age 3 the normal will be more hard than this . give the feeling that this game need to thinking , hard to beat , not only click attack.
In summary , what you have keep in mine is STORY > CHARACTOR > GAMEPLAY , arrange what important first , with your potential you will make the Greatest game again like DAO.
PS. Sorry for my poor english , but I'm DA fan as well and I don't want this game step backward.

How people can actually enjoy this game baffles me.
So am I the only one who isn't a brain dead console gamer now?
They built a franchise on PC gamer support and now that they have some hype behind this game, they crap on us and delivers a sorry excuse for a rpg for people who could hardly be defined as gamers in the first place.
This is a special message to the genius designer who decided the camera would be great like that : Get a new job, you aren't good at this one.
I'm not even exchanging it because I have pity on the next person, I'll just put it where it belongs, the trashcan that is.

i play it on the ps3
likes:
the graphics look better at some angles but fail at others
combat has a better flow to it
like the ability tree
Dislikes:
varric looks like a gay pirate
anders is more serious
can only play as hawke and wont really feel very enthusiastic about doling another playthrough compared to DA:O
but overall its an enjoyable game

Its pretty ok so far, but some things are just flat out baffling. One is that, I can't just talk to my companions anymore, anytime like in origins, which was awesome. So far, I don't really care about my companions, which is HUGE, considering I've never played a bioware game where I didn't care about my companions. Also, for some reason my sir Isaac armor isn't unlocked, even though I have dead space 2, anyone know what I should do
?

I am extremely disappointed with the game so far. Sure, the
combat is well and fine, but the game overall a dumbed down and simplified RPG.
I'm honestly disgusted by the loot system and can't believe that the game won't
let me change the armor for any character except Hawke. I didn’t mind that change in Mass Effect because loot in
the original was random and repetitive to begin with, but as an RPG that is supposed
to be the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate it is offensive.
I like the story so far and the characters, but
the environments are already incredibly repetitive and I am only 3 and a half
hours in. Also, the game is full of glitches. Every time I get backstabbed by a
rogue, I am being robbed of a health potion. Since I am playing on Nightmare,
that glitch ruins the game. Another glitch that is prevalent is that my
keyboard will stop being read by the game, forcing me to alt-tab and end the
process.
I was very excited for this game and pre-ordered
it as soon as I could, but this is the biggest let down I have ever suffered
from Bioware. You guys have been my favorite Developers by far and I have
played every Bioware game with the only exception being Shattered Steel and
loved them all. I even recent repurchased Baldur's Gate 1/2 on GoG. This game
just doesn't live up to the Bioware standard of excellence. It feels rushed,
oversimplified, and the environments are repetitive and boring. Honestly, I am
so let down by this game that I won’t be pre-ordering Bioware games in the
future until I am sure that this is an isolated incident. Dragon Age 2 so far
feels like it should have been a rental at best and really just makes me want
to play the original more to get an actual classical RPG experience.

I am simply eating the $5 I put down for the pre-order (big mistake). I will not go to EB and pick up the game. They can have my five dollars. I saw enough in the demo to know that Bioware sold us PC gamers downstream to reach out to console gamers who don't have time to play RPG's and just want to click through mindless battles to reach the end.
Plenty of other games out there. Went out and bought Rift the other day with the money I had saved for Dragon Age. Enjoying it immensely.

The game is generally enthralling (which is only natural cuz it's made by you guys, Bioware) and I am hooked. Which is bad. Cuz I have midterms. Dammit. But anyway, here's my first impression.
Graphics
I have XP so it's on medium, and I must say I'm rather enjoying the graphics and the art style. It has the realism in the facial features and expressions that really sucks you into the conversation, yet it has an artistic feel to the animations of the combat and the environments. Graphically, I'm impressed.
Gameplay
Mass Effect 2 all over again. I know that TECHNICALLY it's an RPG (cuz your playing the role of Hawke), but everything is stripped down. I don't understand why the dramatic change all of a sudden. DAO was so popular because it was the first REAL classic, strategic RPG in a while, where you were able to micromanage equipment, have an in-depth skill and talent and attribute system, and, of course, TONS of good loot. Most of which DA2 is lacking. There's hardly any loot besides money and "junk" (wtf...seriously?...). Can't swap armor for teammates, only upgrade the stats of what they wear. (One nit pick thing I wanted to say was that you got rid of the fatigue factor. I thought that was cool how you had to find a balance between stamina usage and protection. Just sayin.) I know a lot of people say that no one cares about Chainmail +1, but I do, and I like that in a RPG, especially DA, because that "+1" actually signifies something and adds to the tactical experience, it's not there just to be nerdy. And as for the leveling system, there's nothing really wrong with it, (besides the lack of the talent tree) but it just feels kinda shallow and really limited. Like it forces you to either do this or that, and there's not much customazation to be had with it. And as for the combat, I like the new pace of it. I like the little animations of the rogue twirl-kicking the stun vials, and the dramatic leaps into combat; it's pretty badass. It's fast-paced, but there's still enough room for tactics as well. It's a pretty balanced system. (But just wanted to say, why can't we equip a melee set and a ranged set of weapons? I mean really?)
Cutscenes/Dialog
Many people gripe about the dialog wheel and say that they just wanna say sentences, but I like the Mass Effect conv-wheel, it helps to develop a bond between you and Hawke, and you care about what (s)he says. (And the sarcasm lines, some of those crack me up.) But there are certainly a hell of a lot more cutscenes in DA2 than in DAO, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like the continuous progression of the story (even the stories of the side quests) instead of just constant questing. So that is definitely a plus.
Overall
BRING BACK MICROMANAGEMENT. IT'S A COMPUTER RPG DAD GUMMIT. Seriously though, EVERY RGP out there is an "action-rpg". Stand out from the crowd. That's what you guys are known for. Make it a real classic RPG again please.
So far, story is good. A little foggy at the beginning though. Not a lot of emphasis on the main story so far.
Leveling = eh. Make it more in-depth. Add more branches of skill sets (and in those branches fill it with stat boosters for that skill and little upgrades that make it that much better) for both active and passive skills, bring back applicable, useful talents
Combat = schweet
Graphics = schweet
Cutscenes/Dialog = schweet
Oh, and for the love of God, DO NOT EVER dumb your games down again. You guys are sophistocated developers. With actual intelligence. Use it. Leave the streamlining to Treyarch and Obsidian and such. (This goes for Mass Effect 3 as well). There are enough console-friendly games and console-friendly developers out there. Don't be one of them. And fight EA on this if you have to, because I know you guys can pump out amazingly good classic RPG's. And you're one of the few.I'm positive (and I'm sure you guys have an idea of what I'm talking about) that dumbing down games is bull **** and it makes our population as a whole more stupid and more lazy, because their hand is held the whole way through it and they have to don't think. They just push buttons.
Besides the semi-hostile rant, you guys did a pretty decent job on your new ACTION -RPG, Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age 2 is not a bad game, but it's inherently flawed and panders to the "games for the masses" perspective, the game shows promise in narrative and cinematography but generally sits down on what made people enjoy the first game so much, you can call this an EA problem; but Bioware is not innocent when they messed with their own consistency in it's canon. For one example, the dalish elves? yeah, they suddenly have welsh accents and these are the same dalish elves from the dalish origin from the first game. I have no problem with such integration, but when you mess with your own continuity that you have PUBLISHED you prop yourself up in a bad corner.
The clear complaints about the boring, repetitive gameplay is clear; and the game suffers for that as well. There is no tactical perspective and it's all so generic move forward and spam the attack button. This is not a game for an RPG fan, but a joe schmuck adventure fan. All in all, this might just become the first bioware game ever for me to make me rate it as low as a 6/10.

Well, I've played the game for a few hours and I'm going to honestly say it has not lived up to my expectations from Bioware. As many others have said, this is like a cheap knock off of an RPG and dumbed down to the point where it is almost insulting after the gem that Origins was. I expected more from you Bioware, what a letdown.

I know a lot of folks have had issues, but I am thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this game, I find the graphics awesome, I love the way you can tailor you responses certain ways. I don't know why folks have an issue with limited responses, it's not like you had a large degree of responses in the first game either. I like feeling like my choices matter, and shape the game world. I do wish I could enjoy some of the in between periods, those moments when the game shifts over years, but I like the feeling that gives the game.

I'm only a few hours in, so I think "first impression" is accurate, and I'd love to do my part helping Bioware make a better game if that's why they're interested in the feedback. So here goes:
Graphics - Running the game on a PC with DirectX 9, I found the graphics to be lovely, even though I'm not able to run the game with all of the bells and whistles. Textures and models are vibrant and crisp, a welcome departure from the first game. Character and NPC models seem much more detailed than in Origins as well, but I must say I am a bit disappointed in the Darkspawn; they're simply not as gruesome and frightening as they were before. Hurlocks used to have an air of power about them, and now they seem to move like monkeys and are all textured wearing coifs with too clear faces.
Sound/Dialogue - Amazing music, satisfying crunches and squishes, and some of the best voice acting I've heard in a game. No complaints or criticisms on this front. Concerning the dialogue choices of Hawke, I found issue with the dialogue wheel. I would really like for my character to say exactly what is chosen. I understand Bioware giving us the "intent" of the line, but it doesn't seem like the intent and the response match up. What would be wrong with giving us the actual line our character would say with the intent icon? I feel the best solution would be a mix of the old and the new. Give us the actual line of dialogue that will be said along with the icon - that way we say exactly what we mean and know how characters are likely to respond to said line.
Characters - About 4 hours in, I'm not really feeling much emotional attachment to any of the characters. In Origins, I found myself leaving Alistair and Morrigan in my party at all times (during the first playthrough) because I felt that I owed it to them, as odd as that sounds. I have no such feelings for any of the characters in DA2 yet, but I must say that Varric has made me smile quite a few times.
Combat - I wasn't feeling the combat in the demo, but I've grown used to it, and must say that I prefer the quickness found in DA2 to the slow and methodical combat of Origins. That said, the combat is far from perfect, at least for a PC user. Having things be fast is all well and good, but for those times when one does want to make some tactical choices, the absence of the overhead camera is not merely an issue, but a straight up annoyance, and, given the number of times I like to queue up attacks for my characters, a frustration I run into often enough to despise some of the longer, harder battles. I beg Bioware to patch this ability in for PC users - there was absolutely NO reason to remove the feature, and it is probably the biggest negative I've run into thus far.
Inventory - There's not much I can add to what has already been said on this topic. I miss being able to fully customize my party as I see fit, and I don't understand why this was removed either.
There are quite a few things I haven't experienced yet, or have not in enough depth to feel that I should be commenting on them here, so I won't (like the crafting system). As of right now, I'm certainly enjoying the game, but feel that Origins may be more my style. Reworking the combat was a great idea, but so much of the other changes seemed entirely unneccessary, as though Bioware was fixing things that didn't need to be fixed at all. I won't go so far as to say the game is "dumbed down," but it is certainly stripped down, and that's not a good word to use regarding RPG's, especially those that are supposed to appeal to fans of BG.
Is Dragon Age 2 a fun game so far? No question - I don't regret my purchase in the slightest. However, whether it be misguided design or an effort to increase sales on consoles, I must say that it doesn't feel like Dragon Age.

My only two big complaints outside of any technical issues are as follows.
#1. Dual weapon sets and switching between them.
It was nice in DA:O as a Rogue to be able to switch on the fly between a Ranged and Melee setup or as a Mage to switch between Fire or Ice staffs on the fly. Minor thing but.. its very missed by me.
#2. No companion armor switching.
Not being able to equip armor on your companions has me pretty disapointed. I'm playing through as a Rogue ATM being so heavy armor like the Ser Isaac armor or Blood Dragon is useless to me.
Sure, I'll get use of it whenever I get around to playing a Warrior but it was fun to build up armor and weapon sets for your companions in DA:O.
These things have not kept me from enjoying what I've played so far but...If they could be patched in or added in as a bonus in future DLC or something that would be amazing.
I do like the game very much however.
