I like the game however I really would like two things added to the game.
#1. Dual weapon sets and the ability to switch on the fly like in DA:O
#2. Equipping armor on companion NPC's!

Picked up the XBOX360 version. Two hours into DA2, I find myself feeling very underwhelmed by the game. I don't feel a connection with Hawke or the other characters at all.
Over all the game feels average when playing. The new "faster" combat makes me feel like I'm playing Darksiders or God of War, not Dragon Age. I might take it back to Frys to exchange for the PC version to see if I enjoy the combat more then.

...I just walked into a cave. It is the same cave I walked into for a different quest two hours ago. Except these are two different locations.
How on earth do you justify copy-pasting entire dungeons in 2011? This is disgraceful.

Ok, I have the PS3 Sig. Ed. I'm slightly dissapointed in the text size just as much as the first one if not more, I have to some times shove my face into my tv to see what somethings do. at least give people the option to choose tezt size. also is it just me or am I the only guy that just happens to get the one copy that doesn't have a register code? other then that the gameplay kicks ass.

Been playing straight for 5 hours...PC version with highest graphic settings. I am sucked in, for sure. Only thing I DON'T like so far is Ander's new voice actor. I liked the smarmy sarcastic guy in Awakening. The new guy is playing him straight.

I'm loving this game so far. Honestly - no complaints for the most part.
I enjoy the faster combat, and the "stream-lined" interface takes some used to. I still look at all the armor to see who i can equip it on, and then i realize i dont have to for everyone. It takes some of the micromanaging out (and depending which side of the fence youre on thats good or bad. In my case, i think its good, but Ill admit, i loved seeing the different armor types, etc in origins.)
Im not that far in, as I've been exploring every nook and cranny (PC version). I'll wait until i finish the game for my end thoughts vs origins, but as of right now, I'm enjoying it and sucked in just as much as when i played origins.

My impression is its the death of the franchise its a console game for the pc nothing like what i have come too expect from bioware my faith in bioware products is now diminished ill have too see full game play footage in the future before i even consider buying one of there games.
Hopefully someone will pick up the dropped ball.

So far I am thoroughly impressed. I was one of those skeptical of the changes made from Origins. Basically, I find them to be completely different styles of games, but DA2 is offering a more modern and polished combat system which still involves utilizing your entire party.
The only complaint I would have so far (about 3-4 hours in) is that the difference in difficulty settings seems drastic. Some fights on hard seem impossible for me early on, but are too much of a cakewalk to even be fun on normal. That may change as the game progresses, I don't have an issue switching between difficulty levels.
I was really disappointed at first with the loss of character creation and true customization, but the Mass Effect style main character really allows for more cinematic depth in interactions.
But, all this is said after only a few hours! To those who say they've ruined the game since Origins, I say give it a chance, any fantasy RPG lover should at least get a good run from this game. I personally am loving it so far.
Just my 2 cents

I'm playing on a PC (Win 7 x64, i7 870, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6970)
- The faster action is entertaining. Good change of pace.
- New skill arrangement is better.
- Plenty of quests, with different ways to "stumble" on them. Yay!
- The Talkative Man is hilarious.
- I'm thoroughly enjoying the storyline. However, after a while, I find Varric's interrogation bits annoying. I want to carry on with the story, not to retrospect on something I haven't even experienced yet. This has a way of fleshing out the linear side of the game.
- The frequency of exploding bodies is excessive.
- Darkspawn: welcome to the cartoon age. :/
- So much gear going to waste... Not being able to customize companion armor sucks.
- Gear names too generic. An "Amulet" with physical damage +3 should have a different name from an "Amulet" with health +6.
- Stylized gear icons makes more difficult to see the differences between equipment.
- On Isabela: I thought she was a rogue with strong, free spirited personality; not an emulation of RL pop stars craving for attention.
- Why does everything look so gloomy? The new ambiance feels low tech, nearly a downgrade from Origins.
EDIT: Despite what I like less from what is a more condensed game, I'm still having a blast.

Nightmare is a lot of fun but when you don't allow me to quick save or autosave after a tough boss battle, that sucks. I may go back to it because Hard is becoming a little dull. Also, the game is surpassing my admittedly low expectations in a number of ways but overall it feels like a game that needed another 6 months to flesh things out. It's completely jarring when you constantly meet people who already know who you are.
Very happy I purchased it but disappointed at what could have been.

My overall first impression after 4 or 5 hours is: same thing, pretty much. That's as a PC player playing on hard with tactics and pausing. It's pretty much the same game as DA:O only with more exciting animations and effects and much better art design.
Yes, there are changes. No friendly-fire for one thing, and no armor customization for companions. Some of these changes are good though, like the way potions and crafting work now and the previously mentioned art design.
Overall I think the uproar over changes is largely an overreaction... same game for the most part, and very good. Thanks Bioware.

Rig: Gateway FX Laptop, Vista 64-bit PC OS
Version: DA2 Signature Edition, EA Store
Story: Quite engaging once you get past the first waves of darkspawn and bump into Flemeth. Up until that point, no characters really feel connected to you. But as soon as you hit Kirwall, the story begins to evolve, especially as Act 1 begins. Still, Vaeric is so far my favorite companion, but he feels less compelling than my relationship with Duncan in DA:O or Alistair. Waiting to see how this evolves a bit. Otherwise, I am very engaged in the storyline, and I really enjoy how the choice of responses to dialogue can result in your Hawke shouting out things consistent with your prior dialogue choices. For example, I ended up in combat with my "sarcastic"-tuned Hawke, and he made some great one-liners that were dripping with sarcasm.
Graphics: Assetts are much more stylized and stylish. But they repeat too often. While this occurred a lot in Origins (with random encounters particularly), the game feels really hemmed in by repeating placeholders. This is not an open world, and continues to be plagued by too many "glass walls". In regards to the latter, I look to Assassin's Creed where towns felt very open and Sandboxy. In DA2 (even moreso than DAO), you are condemned to follow a pretty preset path down decidedly narrow corridors. Also (and I know they use different engines), why are my characters so stiff with facial animations? ME2 shows fluid animations are possible.
Combat: The combast is not dumbed down. I am a tactical player and want all my characters following my ominescient lead and whims. I am dissapointed to have a locked camera without a true tactical overview. That said, the actual combat seems even better than it ever was in DA:O. The combat is fluid.
Interface: Wonderful! The GUI is much more responsive, crisp, and minimalist in a way that feels clean and sharp. I like it a lot.
DLC: Wow...early on is this stuff over-powered. I mean, I want DLC to be powerful, but it's quite a difference with these weapons and armor in tow. I should note that the two handed weapons are getting a touch too WoW/JRPG for me. Things that look superhuman to wield just don't feel right to me and is a turnoff. Otherwise, I have to say that the Black Emporium is fantastic! It's immersive, and just is downright on-the-spot for a high fantasy location.
Crafting. The crafting section is not well explained at all in-game. It makes sense after a while, but somehow it's goofy when a character "gives" you a recipe "for free" and that opens up a window that shows that recipe costs 40s 20c to get one. Then it shows in the bottom left a list of ingredients with differing "variants". Some of which aren't even used in crafting this specific item. It was far easier in DA:O and I could figure out what to do without being prompted.
Side Quests. MUCH improved. There is a story or connection to the side-quests now, rather than just a "go there, do this" note on the Chantry board (though this still exists, it is usually linked to an in-game event that occurs immediately in front of you in some way).
Overall Impression. Must-buy for CRPG fans, particularly those loving high fantasy. Caution to those who want a non-corridor, sandbox world--it's a linear set of hallways in various forms. That said, it works in this case, but isn't Baldur's Gate or Planescape:Torment. I'd like to feel more connected with my companions than I have so far (for exampled, loved Shale from the get-go). But I'm still waaayyy early on in this one, just a mere 23 hours after unlock and with only 4 hrs of gameplay.

- Many people who have criticized the combat as dumbed down are choosing to ignore one of the coolest tactical options around: cross-specialization effects. If I stun an opponent with my tank, then chain lightning them with my mage in that order, I gain about 200% more damage than either alone. There are numerous combos that mean timing, tactical choices, and positioning matter. Sure, these existed in the DA:O (think: oil trap plus fireball=inferno), but they feel mightier this go around. Management of stamina and mana are key to executing these combos.
- Reactive combat: is this what SWTOR will feel like? If so, this is an excellent proof of concept. It's pretty cool seeing my mage unleash a mindblast and seeing the opponents stagger and trip over each other. Enemies' toons react to attacks in a very natural and real-feeling way.

Likes:
Combat: a bit quick but it's fun and flows well.
Graphics: nice upgrade from DA:O
Companion personalities: everyone feels different and unique from each other. Companion banter is wonderful, though I would suggest you should have added Hawke into the banter too since we now have PC voiceovers.
Family: kudos to whomever came up with the idea to focus on this. I absolutely love how family impacts the story of our character.
Cutscenes: seemed more natural for the story. I like the mixture of body movements like sitting down to have conversations, etc. Some of the scenes also felt more impactful too.
Kirkwall: design is nice.
Makeovers for character models and races.
Separate home stations for companions.
Quicker travel
PC voiceovers
Dislikes:
Lack of dialogue with companions, feels like there is a big gap with getting to know them.
Cosmetically not enough armor choices.
Quests feel like they lack some creativity. Not sure how this could be changed but try to add more story driven quests that don't involve just killing.
Combat is too quick.
Overall, it is a more simplified game compared to DA: O, but I'm enjoying it so far. Good job Bioware.

I really like it...Kirkwall is great, and I really love how bright and pretty Hightown is, compared so some of the other places
Playing as a mage, I love being able to attack w/o it being turn based.... I love the new combat system... still getting used to a lot, but liking it over all

My copy arrived about a half hour before I was to leave for work today so I had all day to think about it. Install went well; no problems with installing DLC. Haven't had a chance to create my Hawke yet or import a save. A little worried about that one but other than that..so far so good.

Short and sweet, for those who don't know if you want it or not. Get it. Don't listen to all these people who have not even played the game. Don't listen to the reviews. Don't listen to "well there was a pixel out of place on this cave don't buy it!" comments Listen to me... see that number ][ in red under my name? I played it. I own it. I love it.
Everything runs smooth, and I do not have 1gig of video ram, Every things runs well on my quad 2.4 amd with 4gig, running under Vista<yes I need to upgrade:)>.
So don't cancel your pre-order, don't turn down a great game. You will thank me later.

Ok , I'll say it.Looks like EA bean counters just couldn't resist making you dumb down game.Enough so every swinging ***k that never played RPG will go out and buy this.Well fair enough, such is the world we are living these days. Gotta say I'm really enjoying the game. Only complaints would be the copy/paste caves (it just seems lazy) as well as the lack of a tactical camera, but neither make me want to scream that this is the end of the series or demand blood.

About 7 hours in. Absolutely lovely. I was sceptical in the demo but the more I play it, the more I love it. Sure there are some things I don't like, such as locked party armor, no self crafting, and the pushback from arrows on mages, but besides that It is very enjoyable. Just got a quest about the werewolves from 1 that I used in the army, so excited.

Loving this game even more...
without trying to be spoilery, Varric is awesome to listen to during banter w/ others. Bethany is adorable, and we've already bonded as sisters and friends. The whole family thing is shaping into something pretty awesome, which is good to see and adds that emotional element. Aveline rocks, and is constantly surprising me.
I also am enjoying the quests I've done, and the scenery is gorgeous - especially those areas around Sundermount. And for all the complaints of recycled copy/paste areas, unless I'm just easy to please and oblivious, I haven't seen that yet at all. Of course, I'm 5-6 hrs in but yeah...everything still looks amazing and original to me.
OH! And the Emporium...so cool!

My first impressions from this game are horrible. I picked up the game cause a friend reminded me it was released today. Too bad I did not read the reviews! I trusted the name Bioware and my great experience with DAO. I feel let down and cheated by the experience and would really like to get my 60$ back.
General complaints:
-Lack of customization
-Waves upon waves of enemies without even as much as a health bar for each one
-What was wrong with the DAO combat system?
-No free camera- difficulty targetting spells
-No armor pieces for companions???
The moment I saw those long narrow maps, so everpresent on XBOX games, I knew it was trouble...
Extremely disappointing. Future franchise stunts like this will force me to pirate the game instead of buying it. I will vote for quality with my wallet.
