Dragon age 2 better thant DA because:
More intresting story and NPC. DA has only Morry. Story DA 2 about people, this's good.
It has two MBI and Isy for woman. I never laughted so long.
Good fights- more dynamic.
Garret Hawke, my SEXY TIRANNOSAUR. I play only him.
DA 2 get more individuality. I love Darkspawn Style.
In Russian version only text was translated! Thank you very much!
And family Hake's great idea- he become a real man, not superhero.

Don't like:
Boring places. And empty.
Too much fights. It was so hard for you to do a few talkative quests?
End of game was... I hope you will finish it.

9 from 10.

My initial impressions. I like the art style better than I did the first one. The first one went for gritty realism, but ended up being kind of bland overall. The style in this one still has that gritty realism (mostly) but also seems to have developed more as its own style. I'm also kind of liking the meta-story aspects of it. There was a lot of talk about Flemeth from the demo. I was kind of intrigued by it, though. Did she actually take on that appearance, or is the unreliable narrator describing her that way because that's how he thinks an evil man-seducing witch should be dressed? Or has too much college led me to overanalyze things?

The gameplay... I'm still not sure what to make of it. If I compare it to the first game, yeah, its kind of disappointing. I think the first game showed that there's a strong market for tactics-based real-time party-based RPGs (though I'm *still* waiting for a good turn-based one, since real-time ones are typically "dumbed down", hah). That's obviously not what the game is trying to be, though. It wants to be an action RPG. Using that as the basis of comparison, this is what Diablo 2 would have been if it had a behind the back camera and less loot. Is it good? Is it bad? I haven't decided yet.

just wow i didnt even touch the forums when i first got and thought it was god in my opinion but i wake up today and i read all these and i just BAM just shot my self

In light of what going on here, 40-? for the game, 60+? being let down, you will have an explanation of what went on just prior to the release of the game, the Call to Arms story.
At some later stages in developement, BioWare became aware that the game was flawed to late to in the prosess to get it on even keel again. So the best to do was to make a hype, snare peoples with a demo and hope for the best.

Why is combat simplified?

1) Pause and play is optional by design
2) No tactical cameral (almost no zoom out)
3) No friendly fire (except on nightmare)
4) No choice of armor (except on 2 or 3 occasions)
5) The arcade speed of combat means you mostly manage Hawke only
6) Fewer skills and spells (except rogue)
7) No need for positioning – the character teleports or circus flips in
8) Enemy spawn in console-friendly waves
9) No such thing as a ‘miss’ when attacking
10)Shorter cooldowns for skills

I'm too lazy to post an essay so i'll just say

Like

Combat in general is much improved as are the graphics

Dislike

DX11 Performance could use some attention, not game breaking but needs to be addressed.

New itemization - extremely dumbed down to the point where its insulting to be honest. No fatigue on armor like DA:O etc.

I'm all for streamlining the inventory system, but this dumbing down of stats in general only takes away from the depth, adds nothing.

Well, I'm not ready to say its bad or good.  It's just different at this point.  I've played plenty of games that I didn't give me a good first impression that I ended up loving, and probably more that I was hyped to play that I ended up quitting halfway through because it just turned to garbage.  Like I said, I'm not ready to say its good or bad.  It's just my first impression, like the thread asked for.  :)

I think this game has more potential to grab me with the story than with the gameplay.  I'm ok with that.  I'm not far enough along to say if that's definitely the case or not, though.

Then I started to read the posts in thie tread... and it distress me... most explain what they dont like and why... thouse fewer who prise the game just do that, not in detail what or why so much.

my advice...save your money...you dont want to be heartbroken like most of us...you said it yourself the people who hate it explain with valid points why...and the ones who praise it just do that...there are some good points if you searched all the pages but imo the bad outway the good...but i feel like you shouldnt get it....or at least rent it before buying.

this sums up the thread for me in the way that the bad outways the good

I was one preorder 16. september 2010, because I found DAO to my liking. I know that new broms like to set their mark on the world, sadly, this brooms seems to do it wrong. I will play as far as I find it fun and interesting to use part of my spare time on this game.

One thing to the simplified combat: (I think this shows how good the new "dynamic" combat is)

I was fighting 4-5 darkspawns and 1 ogre. (as mage). Because I was watching tv , all my partymembers went to the dust. 1 lvl 3 Mage vs 5 Darkspawns and 1 ogre. Because of the super new dynamic combat system, with its rediciulous short casttimes , i was able to run circles around them ( they just followed me like sheeps, unable to EVER reach me because you can run faster then them) and sling fireball after fireball on them.
A level 3 Mage killed 5 Darkspawns and 1 ogre without even being hit 1 time.
(on hardmode)

sorry, but what is this sh*t? how the hell can someone say there is "tactical combat" in DA2?
The whole "tactic" thing was cancelled by shorten all attack/cast times to 0.001 ms compared to DA:O

I noticed a comment about the armour, I haven't played this yet (not released in Australia yet).
Someone said you rarely change it? Is there not much choice or do you basically find some of the best armour at the start? Also, are you able to change the armour on your companions? I really hope they didn't pull a Mass Effect 2 on me.

this is very disappointing.....i loved DAO but this kind of lame. i think that DA3 will have no skills, feats, no armour no nothing. Why the hell are you removing stuff...read the f-ing forums. I hate consoles. it's their fault for ruining true games...and pc users fault for not buying:))
i love the grafics...story it's ok-ish...HATE THE F-ING camera...how the hell can i cast an area spell...i think the one that thought this was a good improvement to DAO is an idiot...I WANT AN PATCH FOR THE CAMERA SO THAT IT"S LIKE IN DAO...until than i'll keep it on the shelf.

They did pull a ME2. :(     You can upgrade their default armours stats but can also give them weapons, rings, amulets, and belts. But thats it.

Eddy as far as companion armours is concerned they have "overalls" instead of individual armours... your pc can equip helmet, body armour, glove and boots but your companions can only wear an overall and so far I can't find a vendor that sells an alternative set , though there are items that can upgrade the armour your companion wearing

It should not take that long to like the game. In a novel to hock the reader you must do it early or the book will not be read. In my opinion, the same with a game.

Got it as a Gift ..... so no loss there....
Been playing nightmare and found it to be a joke; as of yet to use new armor .

reckon expecting better story lines , the Voice acting is okay , just the the charters cutscences not as refined.
Example would be Hawke order a drink his left hand was twisted intill he held the glass..
the lvls feel more very simplied instants dungeon...
but then perhaps was having so much fun blasting thru the game believed to played only a hour and in fact played 4 hours ....
Still got a long was to go in the game ...
so for the moment Judgement is reserved.....
Perhaps need more time to get adjusted to the Radicals changes in the game...

Bioware, I can overlook many things as you were trying something new, and a lot of it has worked out for the good, but you just destroyed this game, thanks. The one thing I hated about ME2 you went and stuck in this game wow... hope you can mod it, and allow companions to get custom armour like Hawke ffs.

To me Dragon Age (at least when it was just Origins) was supposed to be the alternative to Mass Effect. More depth, less linearity. More RPG and tactics, less action. And, frankly, length and size, a big game that you can play at length and still not find everything.

Now it's like you guys have Mass Effect and Mass Effect Fantasy Edition.

I'm stating the obvious here really. It's a simple fact that there is more money in Mass Effect-type of games than there is in what are now known as "hardcore RPGs". But instead of devoting yourselves to the prospect that your company can have more than one niche, you just followed money in a blind and predictable fashion, and the result is a complete change in the gears of your company. No one expects BioWare to market a game anymore as "the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate". It would be too audacious at this point.

All things considered, Dragon Age was a franchise that I expected to like more than Mass Effect (and I do like Mass Effect). But if this is the direction you're taking it, than I sincerely hope you ditch the franchise altogether. Dragon Age 2 feels like a spin-off of Origins, in terms of story AND gameplay. Why don't you make Mass Effect spin-offs instead?

I am about 8 hours in, and am playing on PS3. Game play has been really simplified, to the point of being too easy on normal. I will have to up my difficulty on the next playthrough. Having said that, it is still fun to play.

My favorite part of DA:O was the story. The relationships that were built with companions were believable and immersive. So far the story in DA 2 is lackluster at best. I'm hoping it will get better
as I get deeper into it.

It seems I should put on paper a repeat of what I did not like about the demo.
The mostly black and brown color... my excuse... it was a burnt out land... some more color in the city... and it was a nice door :-)... refaring to something said in first live walk trough.
Normal was easy, jumping around with my rouge bow or dual sword would make it hard for me getting killed meeting two orges. I did not test easy or nightmare... dont play nightmare, the story must carry the game.
Then i like micromanagement... in the demo none... my excuse, much was locked in the demo.
The darkspawn, i will say the nicest, better in DAO.

What I liked? The demo finished fast... on PC
