The game is for retards... you dont need to actually think how you want to do your character, the stupid equipment says to you what stats you should be pumping on your character... so its a ****, you now cant be acreative because this games is for retards, the combat... the same, just push your button faster and there it is,...

This review its very good

http://www.videogame.../review437.html

And he doesent mentions the retard of the equipment that i mentioned before but its pretty complete just for that litle thing that he passed but, its a very good review.

And for all the true players that think this game its for retards, you can go to the dragon age wikia and see how to use the console, with that you can create your own clases and modify the game to make it better, and thera a few mods that really improves the game, like THE ONE THAT QUITS THE EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS, and with console you can add or quit talents or especialisations, so you can make your companions like you wanted, in origins you can actually make your companions the way you wanted, in this **** you cant, but use the console, i have a merril that its a spirit healer (spec) and have the creation tree its just an example of what you can do via console, i make a dual wield warrior too.

-I like the new dialog wheel (yes I do)
-I like hearing hawke's dialogue
-I'm disappointed with the combat speed (definitely innatural)
- disappointed with weird, weak darkspawn
- time jumps don't add anything, they break the story
- inventory... Miss the detailed equipment pictures and the ability to see all sorts at once
- you start as a refugee, but you're really fast out of your mysery
-what's this day/night stuff?!?
- most quests seem unimportant and not clear
-am overally really disappointed, regret having pre-purchased. I overally don't enjoy playing it, that's sadly my feeling so far

First I'd like to say before my in depth review. I was very excited for this game. So much so as many others did, I Pre-ordered... or would have if I had the money.. But I got it ASAP, and was.. disappointed in many respects. SO here is my in depth personal rating of the game before the over all review:

Game-play (Primarily Combat): 3/5 Stars - Felt more like a mindless Hack N Slash. While the options to do more lucrative and tactfull things were there, like setting your tank in front of a door while your mages and archers shot from behind was possible, It was was un needed in anyway shape or form.

The Combat was definetly most fun as Rogue, but was lacking for the other classes, and did not fit with what DA were orginally supposed to be which is Immersive, and in depth RPG.

Story: 3/5 Stars: Story was interesting at points, but failed to grasp the player and failed to hit the immersion mark.

World (How it was setup, landscapes, etc): 2/5
Stars: This was the most disappointing aspect of DA2. After playing DAO and having all the different types of landscapes and then to play where all you got was "Copy Pasted" landscapes and dungeons that were pretty much all the same with just a few differences here and there not only ruins the Immersion even more, but shows that the game devs put little to no effort in this category.

I honestly could not really tell where we were either compared to DOA (This is a sequal right?) I Should feel immersed in knowing where other situations happend to where I am currently instead of feeling as though they were simply dropped into this new world of Kirkwall. Am I on an island? Then why do the "Deep Roads" connect in the mountains? I thought they were in my old continent...

=========================================================================================

Above is my quick Review, Now I'll give a more in depth Review that adds onto what I said above and explains why I voted what I did...

Starting at the very beggining of the game: The Character Creator. I was really expecting and hoping for a more immersive, in depth system. All I saw was a transfer from DOA to to DA2 with slightly souped up graphics. And I use the word Slightly....slightly...

I thought since you HAD to play as a human, there would be more options, more choices, primarily hair, eyes, facial features, etc. I was disappointed to see that the dev's did not put much effort into this since the very roots and base for an immersive  and in depth RPG is creating the character you'll be playing as as deep as possible, and really getting that "first feel" for how you want them to be. Its the first step to getting attached to your character, and a step that I feel should never be dumbed down for any RPG that offers the ability.

Conversations and Companions seemed like a big step backwards as well. The "conversation wheel" was alright, and would have been a golden element in the immersion and feel of DA2 except for 1 big problem... There were no real "choices" in DA2. There were no real choices that influenced the game world like in DAO. For example, to help the werewolves or change them back to human in DAO. Something that greatly influenced the game later (and could of influenced this game as well, if the devs put more time into it). The lack of these options greatly limits what the different ways of responding could of led too.

That being said, The fact the game was more of a 1 track, 1 story, EA's story. not mine. Also killed the Immersion. This was not my story, it was EA's. I was just along for the ride and could respond at different points in how I wished, but would not alter the tracks ahead in anyway.

The battles I felt were, flashy, fun, but not immersive either. There was no need for tactics, there was no need for "battle formations" As long as you spammed through your abilities and attack buttons and chugged down a health potion or 2 you'd be just fine. Hard and Nightmare were the only difficulties that I had... well Difficulty in anyform.. and Only Nightmare gave me what Hard on DAO gave me. I still did not need to know every mechanic to win.

The graphics of battles was.. outlandish to say the least.. Enemies exploding upon 1 hit, or better yet, when I blasted an enemy with ice he fell apart.... Huh? Many things about the battles are simply Un realistic, un immersive, and just, not well done. Especially when the enemy's disappear half way through a fight and drop a neat little bag of badly rendered gold or items. It felt more like an action game, than an immersive RPG.

Touching on the Action feel and un immersive combat system. The Sub Quest system was also should I say not well finished? If it was even finished... You pick up a random item, like say. for spoilers sake a kitchen knife..., and you just happen to know who in the massive town of Kirkwall is looking for it? *hangs head* Thats all I need to say about that....
=========================================================================================

Now this little section I feel is most important, because there truly is absolutely no good reason for this...

Now If all that above wasnt killing the immersion already, the fact that all the dungeons and areas seemed to be "copy pasted" was probably the biggest disappointment to me, They were copy pasted so much it seems  like the developer in charge of "areas" and "dungeons" forgot what he was "copy pasting" into. SO much so, that he mistakenly copy pasted an  "Interior" area like a cave on the Coast and copy pasted it for a dungeon under the city.

I remember having to do a quest that took me into the underground under the city of LowTown... Only to enter a semi-beautiful green lush area with a big open crack in the cieling showing the sky.... wait... what? Didnt I Just enter this area from a ladder going straight down in the middle of the city at the lowest part?.... I'm sure you can understand my confusion, and great disappointment.

Adding onto this sudden twilight warp from a climbing down a ladder in the middle of the city and ending up in a cave on the coast, The fact that the interior cells did not match with the exterior cells in anyway. Which is yet another example of the "copy pasting" happening. Entering a 2 story 5 window by 3 window building, I should not suddenly be inside a massive 18 by 25 windowed mansion and SINGLE storied at that...  A building that would never have fit the space of the building I apparently had just walked into through the front door.

These things should NEVER happen in a proper game of today's age.

Heres a tip to the developers by a hardcore gamer of many years experience of RPGs: If you want to make a truly impressive game, one to be remembered and one to always be bought years later, and replayed hundreds of times with the immersion that every RPG should offer, You MUST make every area as unique and different as possible, while keeping the Exterior and Interior cells aligned. (You did this well with DAO)

My #1 example of this is the wonderfull (and my most favorite RPG of all time) Morrowind: Each Dungeon, Each Mine, Each area was perfectly aligned, when I go into a building, I end up in THAT building, one that looks exactly as it should inside, and one that fits how it looked on the outside. No house or building looked the same, no Dungeon, Mine, or anything looked the same at all. The Exploration and Immersion, and RPG feel is absolutely astounding, one that game developers of today should be striving to match, and or exceed.

DO NOT Rush games, I believe I say this for most gamers when I say, WE WILL WAIT for a polished, well thought out, creative game that keeps us wanting to play YEARS after we bought it. Games these days are rushed, un polished, bugged, and littered with problems. They are dumbed down, and in some cases simply repulsive.

I will be the first to stand up and challenge todays developers to do what gaming companies were doing in the past. Giving GOOD proper polished and extremely well thought out stories, gameplay, Immersion, and style. Games that DO NOT cut corners, but attempt to go all the way, a perfect balance between all concepts the game offers. A game that is "fully baked", where no parts are "half baked" and "just good enough to pass".. A game like that is a rare novelty for today's developers, which truly makes the hardcore gamers like myself very disappointed.

=========================================================================================

I believe I"ve hit just about everything I can think of at the moment for DA2... It felt more like a full-scale Demo for DA3 to be completely honest. Just prodding and testing what the fans think. Which again, makes me disappointed.

If They are making a DA3, If you follow what I said above ^ in the bold Ink... you WILL create a game that will be hard to beat by other companies, and one that WILL stand against the test of time as other half baked games come and go, DA3 will stand strong. As will any game thats made, that has REAL effort put into it.

As far as DA2 Goes, It has merit, Its fun, exciting at times, and I must say despite all its problems and failure at immersion, it does have its points. I dont regret buying the game, but I have made my disappointment clear.

And putting together what I said in the Bold Ink above, and directly taken from another Review above me I will Quote: "Please put together a game properly, spend 3X as much time on  it to make it clever, deep and engaging, make it worthy of being called Dragon Age.  And if you do it, I won't mind waiting for 2-3 more years.  And i won't mind paying three times the price for it.  Promise.  "

I enjoyed the game, on my 3rd play through now quite actually.

only few complaints are minor bugs, reused maps, no changing of companions armor, and no arcane warrior.

combat is a major improvement for the game, and the story was entertaining.

Oh my... Ressurrecting an old account to write a pointless review.

Dropping the drama/rant/hate, moving on to the review (short version):

FIRST IMPRESSIONS (5/10):
Installation and configuration of the game went well. Once starting the game, there was a mediocre amount of character visual choices on character creation looking adequate. The amount of character types, however, were somewhat limited. This was true for Dragon Age 1 as well, but was even more streamlined/simplified in this game.

In the middle of character creation, you were thrown more or less into the game in a fairly creative manner. But really, isn't "starting off with a bang" getting a little old? And what is wrong with a little cinematic to put the player into the right mood? And for some reason, the feeling was a little "rushed" into completion.

All in all: Not bad, not good. The classic 5/10, industry standard.

GRAPHICS (5/10):
In my personal opinion, not the most important aspect of the game. At least not in pure technical respects.

With that said, Dragon Age 2 appears to be a little dated compared to other action games. And compared to Dragon Age 1, it did not show any particular improvements. Even though the graphics are nothing special and lacks new features, they seem to have polished the look of what was there fairly well.

All in all: Somewhat dated, well polished. 5/10, industry standard.

VISUAL APPEAL (3/10): :(
Different from the more technical quality of the graphics is the visual appeal of the game. More or less an artistic viewpoint of the graphics.

The landscape, city and indoor environments look everything from ok to good. But it lacks a soul. Non player characters do not respond well to what happens around them, they stand around stiff and bland. Too many locations were recycled throughout the game making it appear artificial, a dead thing. No improvement in weather or wind furthers nails the lid on this coffin.

There are also vastly too few types of enemies which contribute to making the game appear without variation.

All in all: 3/10. Somewhat lifeless, fairly bad.

SOUND (3/10): :(
What happened to the music in this game?

The sound effects and general environment is overall ok. Some taunts and tidbits is played too often and is too repetative for non player characters in many areas. But it's not bad, just not anything special.

The music, however, is near being described as horrible. There are only a few tunes I want to bother listening to. I am usually into listening closely to ingame music for the atmosphere, but the music in Dragon Age 2 did nothing for me.

All in all: 3/10. Sound effects are ok, the music is pretty bad and boring.

STORY (6/10): :)
Heard it before, nothing special. However, creative narration and overall well done. There is simply nothing remarkable about the story in the game.

In many places, it is easy to see that the player really has no choice. And even though there are some different choices to make that counts in the game, there isn't truly many "world-spinning" actions.

The voice acting is pretty good, but sometimes a little bland.

It is a little hard to care about the characters in the game. This might be because there are few choices, especially in the start. Personally, most of them annoy me and I would send them somewhere to die if I could.

What breaks an otherwise decent story, is that the quests related to the main story is pretty far from entertaining or interesting. Personally, I simply want to wander off into the wilderness.

Overall: 6/10. Even with some major flaws, the story is above average. Keep in mind industry standard is bad.

COMBAT AND CAMERA CONTROL (2/10): :crying:
Is this an RPG? No. It's an action game. But I say: Rate it as an RPG because it says so on the "box".

*CACKLES NERVOUSLY*

Where to begin... Let's keep it simple:

Every fight is the same. Boom! A bunch of enemies drop down on your head. Your mage spams the same spells as last time and your fighters/rogues mop up, you need to push a few buttons. Boom! Group nr. 2 drops on your head. Repeat.

Where is the development? What new strategic or tactical challenges are there? Since when was spawning encounters in your face good game design? Why is everything solved by doing the exact same thing over and over? Even bosses are mostly fairly simple - both in regard to defeating them and to how they behave.

WHY THE **** DID THEY MAKE THIS SO CRUDE AND REPETATIVE? AND FOR GODS SAKE, WHY MUST EVERYTHING SCALE?

Another annoying lack of feature is the strategic view of Dragon Age 1. With enemies dropping on/in from all directions, some would say it would be nice to have a strategic view camera. This further underlines the action game transformation of Dragon Age 2.

On the positive side, combat is responsive and dynamic. The characters do what you tell them to do, and they mostly do it without any delay. There are a good amount of fun animations and moves which make combat seem flashy and entertaining.

All in all: 2/10, it basicly sucks. And Diablo 3 is going to be a better action game.

ITEMS, SPELLS AND RULES (3/10): :(
Again, I have to ask if this is an RPG or an action game?

Let me just say it without making a long argument. The gameplay is simplified. This is a nice way of saying "dumbed down". Not all is bad, but why not follow the "easy to start playing, hard to master" formula instead of only "easy to play"? Would players die in great numbers from having more choices and a more complex rule system with greater variety of character development available?

All in all: 3/10. Not the worst, but still a big step in the wrong direction.

FREEDOM (3/10): :(
Gone are the days of exploration and freedom, for good and for ill.

As with most other modern roleplaying games, the player is more or less locked onto the "grid". The design of Dragon Age 2 makes you feel like you have more freeedom and choice to go where you like than you really have, something which is a good thing. But rarely do you have the option of going your own way, or simply the unknown way.

Most of the time, you follow the pointers on your area and local map performing more or less boring tasks. To make a strange comparison, the entire game feels like Irenicus' dungeon; only with scaling enemies and map pointers.

All in all: 3/10. Pretty little exciting.

OVERALL SCORE (3/10): :crying:
(I tire of writing this review. Some important things surely are missing. I might update. Bleh.)

I will not butcher it. Dragon Age 2 is not a horrible game. But it is no longer the classic RPG Dragon Age 1 pretended (more or less with success) to be. It is an action game with story elements.

Label a spade for what it is and start shoveling dirt. As and RPG, it is below average. As an action-game, it's above average.

All in all: 3/10. Poor.

To my great disappointment, this game turned out to be what it is. The development turning everything into mainstream action games cost Bioware a long time fan. In fact, no big loss for them, since they gain at least ten action-addicted apes for every hardcore RPG nerd they lose.

With Dragon Age 2, classic computer role playing games (finally) died. Did someone say Electronic Arts wanted to capitalize on Dragon Age 1? I sure did not.

I hope that some other company or community will ressurrect the classic RPG in the future. Good times might yet be had.

And said better by someone else than me: "If you find these words upsetting - pet the cat"

Overall this game is pretty boring, even on the first play.

Pros:
- More fluent combat system, including "kiting" ability. In DAO if an enemy initiates a hit while in proximity, it registers no matter how far you run away. That was just stupid. That's the one big improvement here for me.

Unfortunately I cant think of other big pros.

Cons:

-DEJA VU (recycled maps)
On my 3rd encounter of the same ugly boring dungeon in Act 1, I though I was losing my mind, or that I have a glitched copy of the game. I thought "this can't possibly be by design!" What, did you run out of textures? Couldn't you at least move some walls around to make some kind of attempt to "fake it" ??? Lame.

- MISSING OVERHEAD CAMERA ANGLE!
That's an essential components in any tactical RPG. No matter how much you've tried to polish the combat physics and make it a 3rd person style, at its core this game hasn't changed much from DAO. Try beating the game on harder difficulties without micromanagement! It's pretty frustrating not being able to zoom out and issue orders, when I'm stuck in a corner, surrounded by an army. The camera is stuck between you and the walls, giving you only a limited view at very small angle. It's impossible to aim, order attack on a particular enemy, or even tell how many there are because they're behind one another. It's an utter mess! Similarly when you're inside a narrow stairwell, like in the dungeons, you cant see what's on top or bottom of the stairs and issue orders. Did the guys at "Beunaware" say "Oh wait we have too many camera angles here, lets get rid of some." Just stupid.

-NON-EXISTENT LOOT.
What happened with the loot in this game? I get a few pennies and a health potion after fighting a boss, for I don't know how long. That's soooo underwhelming and it gives no sense of accomplishment. I'll probably grind through this game once, but I won't even think about playing it again because it's so damn demotivating! AND WHAT'S WITH THE PILES OF CHEAP-A,SS JUNK IN THIS GAME? CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT'S THE POINT OF JUNK THAT SELLS FOR PENNIES? USELESS CRAP. CRAPPY LOOT KILLS ANY DESIRE TO FIGHT MORE ENEMIES.

- ENEMIES SPAWN OUT OF THIN AIR
There isn't much to say about this. I'm sure BW have heard a million comments about this. The random spawning kills any tactics that you try to develop during combat. It' so frustrating when you suddenly see your mage dead because 5 enemies spawned behind your party. And you can't possibly see them on time, BECAUSE THERE IS NO OVERHEAD VIEW IN THIS GAME... I think I might have mentioned that already. Yet another reason to have the damn overhead camera back!

-NO ITEM DESCRIPTIONS IN INVENTORY
Are you serious? I have to go to a merchant to see the value of an item???? I can't even see the added bonus of an armor set?? Is this a joke?

- STORY, DIALOGUE, CHARACTERS ARE ALL FLAT, BORING AND LINEAR.
I literally get sleepy every time I play this game. At some point I started just skipping the dialogue cuz I know exactly what they're about to say.

Basically BW destroyed all the essentials that make for a good RPG. Overall, boring story and half-a&&ed combat system results in a pretty underwhelming experience.

I really wanted to like this game. Actually I was so sure that I was going to like it. Why? Because it's Bioware! What the hell happened to these people? Up until I tried this game I was telling my friends "there's no developer like bioware. When it comes to story-telling and presentation, they're the best!" Long gone is that time. Not planning on getting DA 3.

Well said, and unfortunately I agree.  However, I would say that the 'classic RPG' from BioWare is dead, which is sad since they were once the flagship of imagination.  But when you sell your soul...

I think that other companies may see this as an opportunity to hop back on the classic RPG horse, though, especially if games like the Witcher 2 and Skyrim succeed.  I sure hope so.

 My Dragon Age 2 Review:

Backround:  I have been playing rpg's for longer than most of you on this forum have been alive.  From Commodore 64 Rpg's and up.  Text based rpg's to the most beautifully crafted Dragon Age Origins.

Firstly, my complaints:

-The obvious rehash of dungeon/cave tiles and rooms. (Everyone hates this, and so do I)
-Bioware, really?  I am ok with a few, but you did it over and over and over again in this one.  If you were tight on           time constraints due to business desicions and deadlines don't make the game at all.  Do not forget your name         is attached to this.  Shameful.  The first time is ok, but I found myself navigating with my eyes half closed out of         boredom.  "Ooo, look.  A different creature."
-The complete and utter lack of any indepth interaction with any of the characters.
-You got to talk to them briefly with maybe a conversation tree of 3 to 4 desicions and the conversation was over.       -The somewhat lackluster reaction of the protagainst in emotional situations.   Some where ok with the family.
-Lack of an indepth story and proper climax.  The climax really was passed after the second chapter and was unable      to reclaim it.
-there was an ok story.  You were a refugee, a couple bad things happened, you made a couple of interesting             choices and a fight ensued and...it was over.
-Item system
-Absolutely atrocious.  A bunch of trash, and very few items you can use or interchange.  Not enough money in           the game.  The dumbing down of the use of NPC items. I was ok with Bianca, made for a good story point.  Loot       and items are always a fun point of a rpg as interesting decisions are made for combat strategy, and YOU                 KNOW THIS BIOWARE, you've made alot of intersting/epic rpg's and how fun it is to loot and manage items             (Generally a major component to any successful rpg of this TYPE)
-Music score:
-Just sounded like a dubbed/mixed version of Dragon Age:O.   IN DA:O this made the atmosphere and setting             complete.
-Lack depth and size of locations
-No real dungeons of any signifigance or substance, in and out in 15 minutes tops. Then back to the city.  Then           back to High Town, then Low Town.  Badda boom, badda bing. Done.   Rehash, rehash, rehash.

-*FLOATING MAGNETIC SWORDS AND WEAPONS*
-I could not believe my eyes when both my swords were floating 4 inches off my back with no strap or anything,         just hanging out on my back like I had some type of magnetic statsis field plate installed in my armor.   Even             worse was how Mages can just stick a 8 foot long staff on their back with apparently VELCRO, or a Two handed       weapon.  *Facepalm, very large facepalm.  Gave the game a feeling of....cheapness.

Ok, now for my likes:

-Grahpical interface and character(Xbox 360)
-smooth, clean, well done.  *other than the floating weapons mentioned above*
-Combat
-interesting implementation of speed combat.  Good feeling of strong blows and lots of blood.  Effects of larger           weapons hitting multple targets (makes sense - kudos)
-Voice acting
     -well done
-Liked the build up to Quanari Conflicts
-Cross DA:O interactions including the package you have to deliver from the start of the game.
-Characters had potential

Overall I give the game 7.5, unfortunately the replay value is miniscule.   I will do it, but I am in no rush to like I have with DA:O  I have pretty much one of every class completed and saved and I enjoyed it every damn time.  Or Mass Effect 1 or 2, which I played many times.  Kotr 1 and 2, replayed many times.  Jade Empire, I replayed many times.  Neverwinter nights I replayed so many times it isnt even funny.   You guys KNOW how to make RPG's.  Shore it up boys and girls.  I will give you a pass on this one.   Your company has given me more hours of enjoyment than disappointment by far.  Just do not do this again.  No more Dragon Age 2: The Money Grab titles again, please.  If this was your mandate, then you succeeded.  Your EA overlords will be happy.   The heart and soul was not quite all there, felt a little bit too ........hollow. Sorry, no offense to all the people who worked their asses off to get this out.

Gman.

Please, do not let EA bully you on Dragon Age 3.  Take your time. Do it right.

I enjoyed it a lot
-The developers gave us what they said, watching some one's rise to power and reshaping the world.
-Story was great, the ending leaves with a great mystery.
-No "ultimate boss battle" ending like so many other rpg games have
-art stands out more, though hurlocks lock a little lamer

now the things i didn't like
-how much it felt like dragon effect. The chat wheel must go, maybe keep the voice if have the budget, and i swear when my guy took a drink at the Hangedman i thought i was watching shepard, it was the same animation.
-Button mashing for every attack, please let it go back to the simple "hit button and i smash" way
-calling it crafting. I enjoyed the fact of not hunting down for every ingrediant, but don't call it crafting if you find the resource then just order it.

everything else was ok for me. no complaints. But i know i'm only pissing in a sea of ****** with this so i'll stop before anyone actually reads this

Too late I did. You´re now entered into the list of mindless fanbois:P:P

I'm pleased that Bioware has made this game with Console gamers in mind as well. As someone who isn't an RPG expert I find it extremely enjoyable, probably one of the most enjoyable and most meaningful bioware games to date.

Good:
I love how choices feel more morally grey than ever and the friend / rivaily system is really great.
Graphics are much easier on the eye compared to the slushy mess of DA1 on consoles, much more acceptable, animations are fun looking and stylished.
Combat is fun and more reactive, not the boring dated shuffle that hasn't changed since Kotor.
Crafting is here or there, personally I never bothered with it as I prefer to enjoy the story.
Party armor being fixed is much prefered to me, avoids cutscenes looking stupid and the outfits are generally higher quality. Prefer this silent upgrades system
New gifting system removes the stupid mechanic of spamming gifts in the first game and seeing all the dialog. Also the game has been designed nicely so any completest can get people to where they want to be.
I care about the characters more than the first game because of the new conversation system so you can't miss dialog so easy, because of the fact that Hawke talks (a major plus) I feel a much greater connection.
It taking place in kirkwall and characters having their own houses, the sence of grounding and caring about kirkwall and being about to complete sidequests before moving on to the next act without things like Lothering which is really easy to miss. I prefer that it all takes place in Kirkwall.
I like that they broke away from the selfless hero from day one saving the world against ancient evil, I'm glad they had Hawkes family and grew him a greater purpose over the years in the politics, I love how its divided over acts and years and how characters develop.
I love the chat wheel, its good it feels more like Mass Effect. People need to stop being selfish and get used to the chat wheel its so much better than the old overcrowded system. I love how you can tell when you are flirting, joking now etc. Much better.

Could be improved:
Graphics could still be improved a little to be more like Mass Effect 2's standards of animations in cutscenes. Tbh though this is a very minor gripe that never bothered me during the game.
Reusing of maps - didn't have a huge problem with it like some people do and I can see disc limitations can't help although with it being divided into chapters, splitting it into 2 discs on 360 would have allowed for more varied side quest enviroments.
I kinda wish I had another button I could press so I could have 9 console bindings instead of 6
There wasn't enough money in the game, that doesn't mean you should go overboard. But I just found myself being able to afford things way too late in the game when I'd needed them several quests before. Objects need to be a little more valuable but not too much.
I think the romance scenes were a little on the weaker side. Some of them were awsome but I think since bioware got attacked over Mass Effect 1 romance they've been slipping. The undergarment outfits just look a bit awkard lol. Surely you can take a few liberties. Mass Effect 2 does that fairly well without upsetting anyone.
There could be more character dialog but then again I think what we got was ok, split it accross 2 discs like you did with Mass Effect 2.
Don't tie DLC to Facebook games. I hate that.
I'm not keen on the idea of items you can't buy after leaving the act. With the games lack of money it only makes it harder to get the armour sets you want.

9/10
I'd like to see Hawkes story continue in Dragon Age 3 and for his chosen love interest and a few key characters to return at his side.

Okay, I've playing the game for around 10 hours now & it's reasonably fun to play but really could have been so much better. The areas that are annoying me & can be improved are these:

1) Camera angle is crap, can't even see the combat properly or see far enough ahead when casting spells etc.
2) Game is far too easy on the PC, I'm playing on hard which I never normally do & it;s a walk in the park.
3) Environments are too small, graphically poor & are often reused & too similar. The glowing chests in the middle of open areas look out of place.
4) There's no exploration anymore, everything is very formulated which leads to boredom. You accept a quest are lead to the exact position & complete it. Very simple & boring. Variety is the spice of life. Bring back the mixture of quests that were in Baldurs Gate.
5) There's too much good equipment available & dropped early on, loot should be simple & very generic early on with lots of rare & interesting items later on in the game once you've accumulated the cash. Also why bother with adding loot like Torn Trousers pointless. Stop providing good equipment straight away with the signature edition. I have it but think all users in an RPG should start with basic simple armour etc. Having good stuff early on makes finding loot boring.
6) Combat is a bit OTT.
7) Bring back being able to apply armour to the rest of the team.
8) Would be good to be able to speak properly to companions strolling around as well as back at their indivdual bases.
9) Could do with a greater variety of monsters/challenges, too many similar things to fight, too repetitive.

The game appears to have been simplified & I feel like it's lost a lot of it's character by doing this, still enjoying it but no buzz like some of the previous games.

Just finished my first playthrough and I have to say, that was AWESOME!
Did I enjoy it more than Origins? Yes.
Tumbs up Bioware!
(no it's not perfect, but it's still damn good!)

I'm currently on my second playthrough and am enjoying the game.

Some general comments...

Likes:
The characters are great.  I really genuinely like them all, with the possible exception of Carver at this point (but he may yet redeem himself :)).  It was nice to have Anders in the party as a tie-in to DAO.  Isabella is probably my favorite, though.  She has a lot of personality.

Voice acting is top notch, especially from team members.  I only noticed a few monotone deliveries with some of the most minor NPCs.

Story, story, story.  Chantry/Templars/apostates - very interesting combination.

Engine, inventory management, quest tracking.  The UI feels very polished for this sort of RPG.

I'm not sure if it is due to AI improvements or combat design, but combat appears to require less micromanagement, which is nice.

Dislikes:
The later chapters feel empty compared to the first. (Rushed release?)

Interacting with other party members is fantastic, but it feels like there is much less than in DAO.

And along those lines... it feels kind of strange to have flirtatious dialog options specifically marked.  One of the fun things about courting Morrigan was that you never knew what woud make her angry.  The romances in this game are all very easy (except, apparently, the ones were you won't even get the option to initiate if you've ever said anything saucy to another teammate).

The only area that annoyed me was Sundermount - where other areas had quick exits, this one seemed to be a time sink for thorough navigation.

I am looking forward to more add-on material.  Episodic content, maybe?

One thing I had heard our disgruntled purchasers mention(btw, I didn't read ALL of the posts), which irks me to no end is that this title seems standard. Basic. I got hooked on Bioware's games back in the KOTOR days, and that was one of the most brilliant games to date. Pissed was not even the word when KOTOR 2 got farmed to a different company. But as it was pushed out too early, I would have hoped that Bioware would have kept that in the back of their minds.

As it turns out, this title is NOT COMPLETE! I feel it holds about as much content as Orizimar and maybe The Circle tower in the first game for locations. KOTOR died on the table, for all practical purposes.

I am a HUGE Mass Effect fan, and saw an add for it a couple of weeks ago. Now, as I played this game, I am dreading the release of ME3 instead of drooling for it, simply because of the fact I can't take the heart-ache of that trilogy being half finished.

Bottom line: I expect Bioware to make BETTER games that the rest of the industry, and with the KOTOR2 incomplete release, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED! I paid FULL price for a game, and I got half of a game for my money. I may just NOT PRE-ORDER ME3 until I hear feedback on it.

I don't know what happened here, Bioware, but this is possibly my last title purchase if there is a chance of this happening again.

DA2 was the only game I ever pre-ordered, and the reason was DA:O and Bioware's reputation. I will never do that again. DA2 is a major let down compared to DA:O. I pretty much agree with the tons of negative reviews that I've read on this thread and I agree with this review too: http://www.videogame...review437.html.
DA2 is Bioware's Edsel/Pinto.

Played it, and for what it is, it's great. This is a new game set in the same universe as the original Dragon Age. It is NOT the same game. To me, it sounds like alot of people were expecting 'more of the same'. I commend Bioware for trying to make something new. Loved the graphics, loved the story, loved alot of the NPC storylines (however somewhat dragged out)... Only gripe I had was the last 5-10 hours or so of gaming, I found myself disliking that I had to go through alot of the same areas again, and again. Also have to subtract for the 'spawning out of nowhere' enemies. Overall? 7/10 for me. Looking forward to more!

I can'r put my finger on what exactly it is, the game doesn't feel as "Epic" as the original, to include Mass Effect (ref: Epic feel to the game).

DAO, I was able to feel part of the big picture, certain actions had consequences, here they just change who you sleep with and who you have to fight at the end.

I feel a little dispointed, like when they removed the hot tub from SIMS 3.

Isabella was spot on fun, Heck, Flemeth was a hottie even, but the funneled game play left me wanting. like Mickey D's fries at 6 am after an all nite bender..

To me, this was a very good game and should be getting more respect. Bioware just made a couple fatal mistakes which really dumbed down the game.

-The worst thing they did was reuse the enviorments, this made the game get bland after awhile and it took away replay value.

-The companion interaction.......just wasn't there. You could not talk to them outside of their "home" and I felt that most of the charictars just wern't intresting. The only Charictars who seemed cool was Varric and Isabella.(I was really disapointed with Anders, I thought he was going to be the Alistair of DA2 but instead they had to make him very serious)

-I was pretty disapointed with Act 1 of the story, it just seemed like a bunch of sidequest, jumbled togather. The story had no real meaning untill act 2 when the story got a point to it.

-The gameplay for the most part was good, although I can see where people wouldn't like it since they took some of the tactical aspects out.

-The graphics were WAY better then the first game. They are not something you would be blown away with but they're good enough.

-*SPOILERS AHEAD*I know this is no spoilers but I have to say that the ending was HORRIBLE. It doesn't give you much conclusion at ALL. Hopefully, they'll do something like Awakening, a huge ass expansion. This pretty much sums up my thoughts about the ending

Overall This was a 8.5. It may not seem like I enjoyed it but I had great fun. Although this may be a stepback in the series, that does not stop it from being an amazing game.

This gaym is the buggiest p.o.s. game I have ever played. Bioware didn't
get a thing right with this game. You can't even begin one of the
quests in act three. The game AI is a joke. EVERYTHING is downgraded
from origins ESPECIALLY THE STORY. THAT'S RIGHT GET IT THROUGH YOUR
HEADS THERE IS NO STORY TO THIS GAYM ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU DIFFERENT
WORKS FOR BIOWARE. The gaym is more like the Sims with a lot less to
do/places to go. I hope to god they don't ruin Mass Effect three like
they DESTROYED DRAGON AGE. I won't be buying dragon age 3. You guys need
to wake up and see that this gaym is FALSE ADVERTISING. Ps1 graphics
are better. The cutscenes jitter, shrink and expand, aren't even placed
right....etc into eternity. The "choices in this game all have the same
result even the ending choice minus three decisions that ALMOST have the
same result. THERE IS NO CHOICES IN THIS GAYM JUST AN ILLUSION.
The maps=LMFAO lazy on the developers part. It's just a rushed peice of
garbage that wouldn't sell one copy or get one praise if it didn't have
the name "dragon age" in the tittle. Scrap this piece don't buy it. IT IS A BLATANT SLAP IN THE FACE TO THE FANS.
A rushed, chaotic, underdeveloped cash cow and I want my money back you
can have the acheivements they are more like BADGES OF SHAME. QUIT CASHING IN ON THE FANS LOYALTY AND MAKE A SEQUEL WORTH PLAYING. Its just mindless sidequesst with 5 minutes
of "story" at the end of each act. Too lazy and rushed to make
equipment for party members, too lazy to make new maps, Bioware just
cashed in on this atrocity. It should be illegal. For the love of god
don't let me3 be anything like this abomination! One of the party
members if you befriend  she actually LOWERS your attack speed and
attack, The quarians don't look anything like da1 and are all CLONES to
save money/time. The characters in the game? FORGETABLE, BORING. Their
are exceedingly more choices for male male interaction (you know what
I'm saying) than straight, and sometimes the only choice is to A.sleep
with a man, or B. Tell him to go to heck. Two extremes? awesome no
middleground. Thats exactly what this gaym is, NO MIDDLE GROUND ALL JUST
A GIANT BROWN BRICK TO THE FACE HORRIBLE. Every game I have ever played
combined doesn't have half the bugs this filthy beast has. Don't buy
it.
