But let me begin at the beginning....
I was perusing the Dragon Age 2 Tips page when I noticed that Tip #6 was missing both links. Being a loyal follower of Bioware since Shattered Steel and Baldur's Gate, and having a propensity toward being helpful, I immediately took up the challenge. The Webmaster should be notified of this at once! Seizing my trusty Sword of Error-Slaying, and throwing a Cloak of Good Intentions around my shoulders, I ventured off into the Dragon Age 2 website. In no time at all, I found myself lost.
My initial plan had been to hunt down the elusive "Report Broken/Missing Link" button, a magical creature with the uncanny ability of contacting Webmasters directly. It would undoubtedly have been easier to do this had I seen the creature before, but I had not. I knew the beast only through rumor, and had been naively confident I could pick up its trail by the distinct tracks it left behind. After much fruitless searching through the brambles and shrubs of the Dragon Age 2 jungle however, I was forced to pause and reconsider. Perhaps, If I could not find tell-tale signs of my quarry, I could ambush it in its preferred habitat? Readjusting my now battered cloak, I set off once again, this time for Contact Support Ridge.
Unfortunately for me, navigating Contact Support proved to be a treacherous affair. I knew that I wanted to climb up to the top, where my quarry preferred to dwell, but every path I could find descended down into the Cave of Dragon Age 2 Game Support. Despite the fact that I did not want to enter the Cave, I found myself unable to find any alternative. There was a tiny track of a path off to one side that looked like it might eventually lead in the right direction. It looked even less welcoming than the forest I had already tramped through, and the sign said: "Dragon Age 2, PC, Feedback, Customer Service." Gritting my teeth and tightening my grip on my sword, I forged onward.
My parents had always warned me about Support Technicians. Stories of these fearsome warriors were enough to send small children scampering home with wet nappies. I had, myself, spent time among their ranks, and so I was not totally unprepared, yet I did not know the strength of the foe who now stood to block my way. He was shod in finest steel, his hands resting on the pommel of a greatsword which pulsed with an eery red glow as it hummed, ominously. I drew my own sword and approached with caution. When I was almost within striking distance, the Technician shifted slightly and spoke.
Kate: Hi, my name is Kate. How may I help you?
Mighty Explorer: arg
Mighty Explorer: Couldn't find the text box
Mighty Explorer: Anyhow...
Mighty Explorer: I'm trying to report some missing links on one of your web pages.
Mighty Explorer: It was way too difficult to do this....
Mighty Explorer: The webpage in question is the "tip" page for Dragon Age 2
Mighty Explorer: which can be found here --> http://dragonage.bio.../da2/info/tips/
Mighty Explorer: Tip #6 gives two links, but the links do not work.
Mighty Explorer: There are no links at the words "here" and "here."
Mighty Explorer: Have you found the problem?
Kate: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
Kate: I would appreciate if you specify the issue in detail.
Mighty Explorer: ..........
Mighty Explorer: I just did.
Mighty Explorer: Have you read anything I typed?
Mighty Explorer: Problem: The Bioware webpage is missing two links.
Mighty Explorer: Which page? The "Tips" page for Dragon Age 2.
Mighty Explorer: URL for Page = http://dragonage.bio.../da2/info/tips/
Kate: may I know where you are searching for link / page ?
Mighty Explorer: See Tip #6
Mighty Explorer: Text of Tip #6: "If you're running DX11 on PC, click here to download the latest drivers from AMD/ATI and for even better graphics, download the high res texture pack here."
Mighty Explorer: Problem with Tip #6: "click here" has no attached link, and "pack here" has no attached link.
Mighty Explorer: The links do not exist.
Kate: give me a moment
Mighty Explorer: Solution: Get the Bioware web page team to fix the page.
Mighty Explorer: Suggestion: Make it easier to report problems with Bioware's websites. Reporting a broken/missing link should not require this much work.
Kate: have you tried to manually update the direct X manually
Kate: ?
Mighty Explorer: This has nothing at all to do with my drivers.
Mighty Explorer: It has to do with the missing/broken links on the Bioware webpage.
Mighty Explorer: Bioware needs to fix their webpage so that the links are where they should be and are working.
Kate: please I am saying about your Direct X version , not about the driveres
Kate: drivers*
Mighty Explorer: My DirectX installation is perfectly fine and working wonderfully, thank you.
Mighty Explorer: I have no problems with my drivers, nor with my graphics card.
Mighty Explorer: I am able to run all of my games without any errors or crashes.
Kate: so what the issue you are facing regarding the game ?
Mighty Explorer: None.
Mighty Explorer: This isn't about the game
Mighty Explorer: It's about the Bioware website.
Mighty Explorer: Do you speak English?
Kate: so when it is about the website
Kate: then we can not do anything in this regard as we are here to
Kate: provide your technical troubleshooting assistance
Kate: for the website issue you can contact to Bioware
Mighty Explorer: That is exactly what I tried to do. And this is where I ended up.
Mighty Explorer: There was no option to contact the web team.
Mighty Explorer: None at all.
Mighty Explorer: Instead, I will be making a post on the forums, and I will include the text of this conversation.
Mighty Explorer: Hopefully, that will get their attention.
Mighty Explorer: Thank you for your time.
Mighty Explorer: Goodbye
You have disconnected.
My heart pounding in my chest, I fled before my enemy could launch yet another attack against my sensibilities.
Throughout my expedition, I had tried to maintain both my composure and my honor, but my toiling was beginning to take its toll. My +2 Sword of Error-Slaying had been blunted and damaged by the Technician's onslaught, and my Cloak of Good Intentions was riddled with rips and tears from both the jungle and the track. Somewhat dispirited, I reached for my "last resort," a Horn of Forum Posting. Hopefully, someone would heed the call of my clarion and come to aid me....
