I have had this problem since 9:20pm EST last night so it's been about 15 hours already. The guy said it was a known issue. Another guy today (it's still not working) didn't say anything about a known issue and sent me in circles for about 45 minutes before I gave up and closed the chat. I am so ready to install a crack. I had the game already installed, played and completed a year ago when it launched. I just wanted to give it another chance to see if I would like it this time and see how DX11 looks. It's already registered, I don't even see why I have to go through these Origin validation hoops. I've wasted too much time on a game I didn't even like the first time, to be put through all these complications.

just spoke to an EA rep on live chat (Amresh) and he suggested something.
something i was REALLY hoping he wouldn't suggest...

after watching the validation error via desktop sharing, and checking my CD-key against my account at EA's end of things... he said that everything was in order, and the only way he could think to fix it, was to download Origin, uninstall the game. and reinstall through origin.

as games downloaded via origin do not require validation.

this kind of irritates, as i only went into town and bought this thing because my wireless is shockingly bad at the moment and i wanted to play an offline game when it became too bad to play EvE... ARGH.

it appears to detect that you own the game if you have it installed when you install origin, as it has picked up my steam version of spore too.

gonna give it a little while for EA to sort this at their end, then try this origin fix. if it works i will let you all know.

I bought the game via Origin and i have the same issue with activating the game . Don't follow his advice, it will not work :(

. . . I refuse to use Origin . . .

On that much, I agree.

Since the symptom cannot be a game-originated problem, if it isn't something new, just implemented at the SITE end, then the alternative is that a dozen game  players all simultaneously broke their systems themselves, or otherwise did just about the same thing to their operating systems that they should not have done.

Possibly every single one of you is so easily fooled that you are all allowing Microsoft to change whatever it feels like changing, whenever it feels like doing so, in which case, it could be Microsoft's screwup, instead of Bioware's / EA's.  Has a single one of you considered that?

To repeat, there has been no patch after 1.04.  Did all (however many of you) all wait until yesterday to apply that patch?  It's been available for at least a month . . otherwise, since this hasn't affected you until now, it isn't a tech question about DA2.   So far, I haven't seen any of you ask each other THAT.

It's about something else, and there's no question about what can be accomplished here (nothing), other than compare notes.  It is useless to cry, whine, vent, etc.  because no one from anywhere outside the game-playing membership is going to read any of that.

To compare, I just bought the game today, patched it, and it won't validate. I begrudgingly installed Origin and installed it that way with the same result. Now, I'm off to un-install Origin. It almost has to be an issue on EA's server end.

Just bought the game 30 minutes ago off origin, and it won't validate. EA problem.

It most definitely seems to be an EA problem. I downloaded and installed through Origin and it still gets stuck "validating."

Talking to Live Chat doesn't help much because they make you jump through unnecessary hoops and  it's not even acknowledged as a "known issue".

I've gotten better results via phone call ( although, of course, the issue is still not resolved.)

The guy in the live chat acknowledged it's a known issue and that the developer team is working on it.

Saurabh: This is know issue .
you: yeah, I don't really care, I just want a solution
Saurabh: Our developer team is working on that.

So yeah ... no solution, great stuff is, for a game that was released more then a year ago.

If you do that, does it cause any problems with updating your character info online? (achievements, etc.)

What are you talking about?  First of all, I don't have Microsoft auto updates enabled and nothing has changed on my PC in the last 24 hours.   Everybody doesn't enable auto-updates, HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT?

I didn't "wait" for a month to install the patch because I just installed the game last night, and many people have just purchased the game.  I just rebuilt my PC in the last few days, and my other EA games are working fine. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT?

Furthermore,  we are accomplishing something, we are finding out from each other what has already been tried that may not work.  Through process of elimination, sometimes things CAN be resolved.  It's not an issue of crying, whining, or venting, etc.  HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT?

Now go be condescending to someone else, genius.  HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT?

Oh come on moderator... I want to know what's going on. I just bought this game yesterday. I have origins and awakeings and they both work. The only difference is that I purchased this one as a download. I tried it before the patch and after the patch. I have done it before I registered it on bioware and after. I don't have autoupdates allowed on my machine. The only thing that might be different is that I didn't install on the C drive because I never install applications on my C drive. Is this a common thing among us? Anyone hear if they've come up with a solution at EA as of now?

How do you use the code to install the black emporium.  I couldn't find a place to enter my code for that.

Stuck at the validation screen also. This is a disgrace. I've tried everything and niet. I bought that game because i needed something to play until the release of D3 on may 15th.... I had my lot of issues with EA games and it seems they did not learn their lessons. Long live to Blizzard!!!!! I will journey until may 15th and after that, my DA2 dvd will serve as a glass mount...

I spoke to a person last night who said they were aware but still working on the issue. No ETA on when it would be fixed.
