I installed and have been playing the game for almost 2 weeks. Now... The desktop I was playing on hasn't left the validating screen since Friday afternoon. I started up my laptop though, where I installed the game at the same time and it works fine. I assume the laptop didn't have enough play time on the program to initiate a validation session and so it works. It seems to be at the start of the game, and at week intervals.

Still, it's obvious now that you don't buy these games anymore. You rent it, and EA simply gives you more game time each week when it gets validated. If you're internet bailed out at validation time, the screen might as well say "you ran out of Tokens", cause you don't get to play anymore.

Which is funny, cause if I only rented the game for the 8 hours it took to play, I would have spent a WHOLE lot less for it.

I don't think they bother themselves with stuff like this during the weekends so if we're lucky they might start working on a fix today (monday) and we'll be able to play soon :)

to be totally honest, i didn't buy an offline, single player game, to have to sign in and validate online just to play the damned thing. This kind of thing should not be needed for offline games. I can understand other EA games, like Spore, needing online validation, as they have online components, but this is a single player RPG.

seriously EA, get a grip. if the moderated posts all over this forum are not an indication, things like this are forcing legitimate customers away from your stores and away from actually paying for your games, due to the terrible service they are recieving, and towards illegal cracks and piracy.

while i do not condone such actions, given the amount of time your validation server has been inaccessible, i can totally understand them.

with a company of your size, even for a game that is over a year old, this should have been fixed in a matter of hours. You cannot make something like this mandatory and allow it to remain broken for so long.

the last game i played with broken protection this bad, used StarForce protection, and within 6 months of release the company itself had released a patch removing the need for the protection system. (X2 - The threat, to be specific)

If it wasnt for all the addons I have PAYED for, I would crack this game in an instant. The next game I come across that has this issue will be downloaded and cracked without me paying a single euro/dollar or whatever.

Same problem here. Hopefully, it will be fixed tomorrow (Monday). I can understand (somewhat) why it has taken so long. It's a weekend, and like most of us, the employee's at EA and Origin are at home with their families. Here's hoping it gets fixed!

Me too -- this is not good! I have had my game since it first came out and now I can't validate -- I want to play tonight. I hate games that require computer activation / live internet -- I want to pay my money and not deal with the company again, unless there is something new that I need.

Just bought the game over the weekend, same issue here. EA's lack of a solution thus far has driven me completely and utterly bananas. I will NEVER deal with EA or any of its affiliates again. I have uninstalled DA2, DAO, Spore, all of my Sims games and Crysis 2 from my computer and am in the process of cancelling my SWTOR subscription, I am that infuriated with the lack of service over this.

Not start a discussion about DRM and EA. But don't you guys think you are overreacting? it obviously sucks not to be able to play a game that you own because of some stupid server issue. But we don't need to go screaming about how evil EA is and uninstall all of their games.

Lets just hope this is resolved by tomorrow!

I don't really know that anyone is "screaming" or complaining about "Evil EA".  It's not even so much about the games themselves, it's about the fact that adding an additional layer of verification is causing us to not be able to use products that we have purchased the rights to use at our leisure.  If they are going to employ an online activation/verification system that doesn't get the weekend off, then the people who maintain that system should not get the weekend off.  I've never had an issue with a merchant taking my money for goods or services, but once again, there is an issue with me being able to use the goods and services I spent my hard earned 60 bux on.  Would it kill them to add a patch to Origin that says "if the server is down, then allow the game to be played and verification can commence once the server is back up".  They could at least employ a backup server that can do that much, or even better, let the brand new installs get temporary access (maybe 5 days).  This is a smart way to do it.  The server could be down for an entire weekend yet the end user would never know b/c they aren't required to activate/verify until the 5 days is up.  I think that's a reasonable accomodation for a paying customer when the system is down.

And here I was thinking it was just because I bought a digital download through GameStop and figured it was their Steam ripoff program that was giving me all these problems, just like it was for Orgins, and Batman: Asylum/City....at least I got Orgins for free after paying $15 for DA2. Can play through that until then.

An hour is too long to wait. That is what we get when EA treats honest gamers like criminals with its copy protection methods.  Sad thing is a pirate wouldn't have to wait at all.

Same problem. When I type incorrect password i'm getting message that login or pass is incorrect. It seems that ea/bioware are synonym of superb customer support.

Same thing stuck at validating... I thought that was part of the purpose of Origin in the first place? Once a game is purchased and Downloaded from Origin it removes the need for validation? All of this tech in place to fight so called piracy that honest people who buy the game and just want to play it... can't...
