There is a little bit of me that looks at this thread, an island of dignified calm in a maelstrom of impotent ragging, and wants to believe it indicative of the difference in character between Europe and America. I catch myself thinking 'yes there go the Americans wailing like spoiled children while we remain polite, relaxed and urbane'. It's not really justified of course, but it is so tempting to think along those lines.

Just got the e-mail from Game saying the game is dispatched and on it's way, should arrive by Friday or so. No rush, just glad that the problem was sorted out.

Hope the game is decent, just two days or so to find out.

I'm waiting for my Steam activation and tbh, I'm not influenced neither by whiner nor by those who praise the game. I think tis individual experience and it should be regarded as such. I'm waiting eagerly for my game and that's the only important thing so far. Wish EA didn't go for that different times unlocking the game, but what can one do.

Got my game and I'm just installing the new ATI fix so my game won't stutter as soon as I start it.

I'm totally getting it.

I learned long time ago that on BSN "reviews" of new Bioware games can't be trusted.

I'm am bit confused by these so clearly divided opinions of the game. So many are calling DA2 the worst game in history here but I'm trying not to loose my faith on it. I hope I haven't raised my expectations too high because I have never been so excited of a game before release date. The demo version has convinced me already so I dont think my 50€ will go completely waste. :)
My copy of SE was shipped yesterday so I think I will get to smash X button on friday until my fingers are numb.

edit: hope they fix the auto-attack system soon.

The only thing that worries me is the grumblings of a semi-linear story.

Ah crap. Just got blocked by the "Release Date Controller". I forgot that we europeans aren't allowed to play the game till the 10th -.- . Meh... another 11 hours of waiting for me than.

Huh?! I never heard of this! Are you on xbox? What happened, you put the game into your console and that came up?

Heh, I only ordered after trying the demo. And I'm really looking forward to the combat - quite simply that was the reason I decided to buy it. And what's said about that, just sounds as if it is truly awesome - both tactical and glorious to watch. I do hope that the storyline will hold up to Bioware quality.

Now, I'm just waiting for midnight to start playing.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Can't say I'm looking forward to X mashing but if the demo is anything to go by then Archer or Mage is the way to minimise it.

No on PC

Just got the Game from Amazon, installed it, installed the fixes for my ATI, installed the new content and clicked play. Then you get an little programm that checks if it's release day in your timezone or country or whatever. Since the offical release date in Europe is the 10th and not the 8th like in america it says I'm not allowed to play it at the moment. :( Have to wait another 11 hours

I'm doing my best to avoid digging into the spoiler section, 2 more days to wait for my singanture edition to arrive in Hungary, we even get the amulet of ashes and 1600 BW points for free from the local distributor and regular DLC items too, so I can barely contain my excitement.

I've read opinions open minded and have no worries if the games is good enough or not.
There was same song when the Awakening was released. It seemed to be end of the world for somebody, they sayed there was HUGE problems and the game sucked. I completely disagree, it was not so different and the differences were minor.

After the demo I have nice vision about DA2. I don't care if it's not (and when it is not) perfect, I'm happy with good, entertaining game. I love smooth combat system and isometric cam, but as I have played PC games over 20 years there is no problem to get use to some new features. They're not a problem if you give them a chance!

Only one thing bothers me, it seems that gaming time is not even half of DA:O? Correct if I'm wrong.

I've stayed away from the spoiler threads so far, but the player reviews are so terrible I am genuinely worried I just wasted £30. I hope the (large) mass are wrong, and I'll undoubtedly play the game through to its conclusion, but my expectations have slipped considerably.

ive seen a lot of people saying it is only half the length of DA:O but then others say its about the same length... I personally find my gaming time varies over run-throughs dependant on side quests, full story immersion etc. May just have to wait and see... the majority of people saying its way to short are most likely running through and not taking their time to take everything in that the game offers... hence it appearing short... Only time will tell for many of us still waiting at the edges of our seats.

I've been hearing 15 hours for the main story, and anything from 30 to 60 hours in total.

I'm still very much looking forward to the game.

Some of the things people are moaning about don't really affect me (I'm actually glad the combat's different and that the inventory's been simplified for starters), and while I do agree some of the complaints seem very valid (like regarding the recycled environments), I doubt ultimately it'll have much of an impact on my enjoyment of the game.

I just hope that in a few days the forums are a bit more bearable though, they're really grating at the moment.

Hmmm.. it is about the half of DA:O... I've always played all sidequests I could find so it seem to be not so big problem. 50+ hours is very acceptable. It is good indeed compared at huge majority of games. So if it's something like that I'll satisfied.

Blah, I can't wait... two long days and I'm hanging there reading topics and try to avoid spoilers ;)

The auto-attack feature and the save import issues, plus the apparent stuttering on 360 (quite bad, I hear), are worrying me. I cancelled my pre-order (probably only just in time) and don't intend to buy it until I know it's up to scratch.

There will almost certainly be an Ultimate Edition, and by then I can get a decent PC to play both DA:O and DA2 on. Hopefully by then most bugs will be smoothed out (assuming, of course, that the patches don't break the game even more, as they have in the past). Hopefully we'll also get a toolset update by then.

The last straw is really the auto-attack thing. I don't want to play a button-masher. It's not the type of game I enjoy, and I think it's absolutely appalling that the issue didn't come to light sooner.
