I have been playing for about 30 min - 1 hour, and I have noticed that the cutscenes are not properly formatted for 4:3 SDTVs, the videos are out of proportion (they appear to be too thin, and the edges of the cutscenes are cut off), and character models will frequently "stutter" (such as during Varric's interrogation scenes, and with Wesley's final conversation), also there appears to be random drops in framerate during cutscenes and dialogue. The problem with the video proportions is giving me a serious headache.

I did not have this problem with the demo.

Also I installed the game to my 360's hard drive.

Also the text is almost illegible (which was also an issue in the demo).

Any help from Bioware would be appreciated.

It would be nice to have this fixed. Even as nice as it is to feel really tall and skinny, it kinda makes peoples' heads funny-shaped.

I am having the same problem with cut-scenes flickering, I wondered whether or not if I should take my game back for another.

Its not so much the text that bothers me, its the way the game looks during cutscenes and the flickering.

The demo looked good on SDTVs.

I wonder if its a bug.

I'm having the same exact issue. It's not formatted correctly and the cutscenes flicker. This is ridiculous.

Ditto, same issue on my SDTV. I even tried removing the DLC, installing/uninstalling the disc on the HDD .. and nada. Everyone still looks incredibly thin.

Same issue here. Installed to the 360 hard drive, booted up the game, and the cutscenes were immediately messed up. The demo looked great (besides the small text), and had none of these issues. Very disappointing!

Same here,.cut scenes flicker, skip, jump etc. and I cannot read the tiny print. I am sick of games with tiny print! And I'm sick of game developers crapping on us fans. Let me clarify, Big Game Developers ahem EA... Bioware games were legendary that is until they partnered with EA. Now their becoming legendary for their letdowns just like the EA of old. It is inexcusable to not only not take into consideration but cater to those of us poor sods who can't afford thousand dollar tv's as we can hardly scrape together the coin for the games themselves at $60 a pop. We got you where you are EA we made you the gaming icon you are today, the least you could do is make the f*cking print legible in your games. Thank You Bioware for another outstanding adventure, Screw You EA and whoever's in charge of the size of the print! I have an old TV excuse me for being poor and escaping the plight of America through videogames I'd love to do so without getting a bleeding headache!

Well, at least I know I'm not the only one who's having this issue.

Hope we get a response from Bioware on this.

Preferably something more adamant than "We're looking into these, and other issues." I mean, this game is just going to sit around and collect dust until it's fixed. I'm not raging about it, like that guy in that other topic, but the word "inexcusable" was pretty dead on.

This.
(I play on xbox 360 premium post 2007 and SDTV.)
I'm either going to;
A: wait for the patch(s)
B: trade the game in (I got a SE.This is slightly depressing). And no, I'm not threatening.I'm saying what I might have to do about it.No use in keeping a game around I can't play.
C: wait until I can afford an HDTV.Which at the moment, doesn't seem likely. Can't afford it.
I really want to find out what happens in the story.

Side note:I can't believe there's no auto-attack for the consoles.I already have trouble with my wrist and button-mashing A over and over isn't helping.<_<

Something like this seems a bit hard to patch. Boy, I'm glad I have a great HDTV. LOL

Well good to know I'm not the only one with the flicker/skip/head moving up and down spasm during cutscenes problem. When I saw the whole stretched look when I popped in the game I did think in the back of my head "Oh great..." but I knew and kind of expected it was because of the whole SDTV and HDTV thing. What freaked me out was the awful flicker! I thought my disc was defective. I checked for marks and even installed to the HD to only have the same results.

Glad I at least read up in several different forums because honestly I hate bothering the actually good employees at the Gamestop near me only to waste both our time and lower their stock for another disc thats going to have the same exact thing happen.

Yes, I've got the same problem with DA2 on my SDTV. The interface, load screens, and exploration/combat all look fine, it's just conversations and cutscenes. As has been said, they're improperly formated and there's visual stuttering because of it. I've even seen Justice's "eyes" show up on Anders' cheeks.

Totally unacceptable bioware, it was fine in the demo. Fix it ASAP.

Also we may get more support if we all start either (rage) calling support repeatedly or using the support link at the bottom of the page... I think thats just EA's support page though dunno if bioware checks through there or not.

Played it for awhile and I can see what's going on. With my SDTV cinematics look awkward, slightly compressed and stretched out. I also got the occasional character flicker meaning that the backgrounds would still look fine, but the game characters would blink in and out like an old school television being turned off.

As for the actual game, it works just fine without any sort of distortion. Which is weird since the cinematics are messed up, yet they were fine in the demo.

Tried switching to an HDTV and it still glitched. Not to mention I think I'm missing some sound effects too.

Yeah, I'm getting incorrect formatting in cutscenes, screen tearing both in cutscenes and while walking around, characters flickering in and out of existence in cutscenes, illegible text throughout the entire game.

I have an older large system, I'm running at 480p, and I'm using the default cables hooked up to composite in.

I'm playing on a SDTV, and I'm also getting the flickering characters, though my screen doesn't appear compressed that I can see.  On the one hand, I'm kind of surprised because this wasn't an issue with the demo.  On the other hand I'm not, because it's not the first Bioware game with graphics issues.  The flickering doesn't happen often enough to really bother me too much; I've seen more persistent graphic bugs.  The fact that the demo didn't have this problem leads me to hope that they'll fix it soon.  Of course it also makes me want to use words like 'false advertising' and carry a pitchfork around, but I can resist that urge for a week, if necessary.  So man up people.  And if you're listening to us, here's a suggestion:  take a look at the demo and figure out what you did right.  Then do it again.

I'm not raging. It just seems like rookie mistakes coming from Bioware. The inclusion of a standard 4:3 setting and testing it on tv's other than the thousand dollar plasma screens in their offices to ensure the video quality is consistent for all gamers. I love the game, I can't put it down but this mistake along with the uneven volume, it's super loud in combat and hush hush in dialouge, detract from the immersion. I am over here getting lost in the experience and then text comes up on screen, I can't read it, someone says something, I don't hear them and we enter a fight and my roommate wakes up from the demons screaming and weapon effects... Grr... I want seemless fluid immersion which I have received in the past from Bioware, therefore I know it is possible. And it is expected. Nevertheless I am sure they expect me to get an HDTV eventually, which I will. But in the meantime Grr! Help a brotha out EA release a patch!
