I wish I couldn't put it down, but I can't even play the game up to the point where Flemeth shows up without getting disinterested. Maybe I'm just OCD, but when the game doesn't look right, I have trouble enjoying it.

Also, my brother found this out, but it seems that if you go into system settings and change your Xbox video format to wide screen, the characters don't flicker anymore. But then, the whole game looks squished, not just the cutscenes, so that's not any kind of solution. Just thought it would be interesting to point out.

Also, the inconsistency in volume can be changed under the option menu under audio and sound effects/dialogue.

Same here, but the worst part is the text -- it's so small that it's nearly unreadable!

I have a SDTV and though I can read the text with only a few unreadable words on the dialouge wheel sparingly (there's only been like 4 or 5 words throughout the whole game I couldn't read), I do experience the problems with cut-scenes seeming to be squished and the character glitching as if thew screen is trying to correct itself. Like others have mentioned, the demo had no such problems.

Hopefully it is something that can be patched, not all of us have the means for getting a decent sized HDTV (as the small ones are expensive themselves).

The funny thing is, my characters look normal on the demo but long and thin in the game.

And even the most affordable HDTVs, not that I can currently afford any, would kinda feel like a downgrade. My SDTV is big. So big, the text is practically bold print.

Do I want free access to the dialogue options and the rich lore in the codex at the expense of baring with the squished cutscenes and headache-inducing flickering? Or do I want to spend a couple hundred dollars to correct the resolution, at the cost of all the good reads in the codex?

I think the real answer to that question is that this dilemma is just downright unbecoming of a game this good. It's a shame, isn't it? :c

I would apreciate a fix to this because I find playing the game knowing the cut scenes are squashed takes all immersion out of the experience thus, I don't really have a desire to play it.

I'm having this issue also, I found out that switching my Xbox display settings to PAL-50hz (don't think this will work with NTSC) managed to correct the squashed cutscenes, tho gameplay starts to look a bit stretched. I hope a patch can fix this.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO KNOW WHY THERE IS NO AUTO FIGHT OPTION SO YOU DONT HAVE TO PRES THE (A)BUTTON OVER AND OVER. WELL, YOU'LL BE PLEASED TO KNOW THERE IS, JUST GO TO THE OPTIONS-GAMEPLAY AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE AUTO OPTION THERE. AS FOR THE OTHER SCREEN ISSUES I DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THEM, I'M GLAD TO HEAR I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CUTSCENES FLICKERING CHARACTERS IN MORE THAN ONE SCENE. ALSO, IT'S AMAZING TO KNOW THAT THE DEVELOPERS DIDN'T THINK THAT NOT EVERYONE MIGHT NOT OWN A HD TV OR HAVE A FLAT/WIDESCREEN 1080P TV, THAT SOME OF US LOWLIVES WHO BUY YOUR GAMES ONLY HAVE A STANDARD TV WHICH MIGHT BE SURPRISING TO THE DEVELOPERS OR THOSE IN THE GAMING INDUSTRY. IT'S SO ANNOYING THAT I HAVE TO LITERALLY CONSTANTLY USE MY TV REMOTE TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN 4:3 AND 16:9 TO TRY AND HAVE AN OPTIMAL AND FUN TIME PLAYING THIS GAME THAT I'VE WAITED A LONG TIME TO PLAY. AND THE WRITING IN ALMOST ALL OF THE GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ, IT'S SO SMALL IT JUST BLURS TOGETHER MOST OF THE TIME. THE DEMO WAS GREAT AND HAD ME SO EXCITED TO PLAY THE ACTUAL GAME, BUT FROM THE MOMENT I PUT THE GAME IN AND SAW THE FIRST TIME THE CUTSCENE FLICKER, AND THE SCREEN LOOKING ALL STRETCHED OUT, I THOUGHT AT FIRST, OKAY I'LL GO INTO THE OPTIONS AND FIX THAT, BUT NOPE COULDN'T DO THAT OF COURSE NOT THAT WOULD BE TO EASY. I EVEN AT ONE POINT THOUGHT TO MYSELF I'M TAKING THIS DAMN GAME BACK, BUT I REALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME I'VE WAITED SO LONG I SUPPOSE I'LL JUST DEAL WITH IT. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS, I DOUBT IT BECAUSE THESE PROBLEMS CAN'T BE FIXED BY A FEW PATCHES AS FAR AS I KNOW. I'M NOT SURE MAYBE THEY CAN? I REALLY HOPE SO.

if your tv lets you adjust the aspect ratio then in system settings on your 360 change the display to widescreen. Then on your tv make it 16:9. no more flickering or weird aspect ratio. Of course, now the text will be even smaller. Small price to pay until teh patch hits.

Figured this out and have been playing since. A bit begrudgingly, but far more plesantly than before. Bioware, i am incredibly disappointed.

Has there been any word on if there will be a patch for this issue?

I have been playing for about 30 min - 1 hour, and I have noticed that the cutscenes are not properly formatted for 4:3 SDTVs, the videos are out of proportion (they appear to be too thin, and the edges of the cutscenes are cut off), and character models will frequently "stutter" (such as during Varric's interrogation scenes, and with Wesley's final conversation), also there appears to be random drops in framerate during cutscenes and dialogue. The problem with the video proportions is giving me a serious headache.

I did not have this problem with the demo.

Also I installed the game to my 360's hard drive.

Also the text is almost illegible (which was also an issue in the demo).

Any help from Bioware would be appreciated.

I've had the same problem. Strange that demo looked perfect.

BLOODCLO this has got to be the first time where a person writing their whole reply in caps lock has bothered me. It actually made it hard to read. Between the font style and color... just... NO.

Many share your feelings and I know you're frustrated, but no ones going to prioritize your post higher because it's in caps. If anything it's mainly going to get skipped.

Had the same problem, not a gigantic issue that it prevented me from playing the game, but it got way worse as I got closer to finishing the game.

It's hard to even fathom how a bug that is noticed right at the start of the game goes through to the end. You would think they would have had people play the game during testing.

Turning my Dragon Age II back into gamestop, its ****ed up that bioware would do this. Turn a good game into crap and try to sell it to us.

Really I had to straight up stop playing. Elves were like super skinny freaks and the top of my guys head was cut off in practically ever dialogue scene, it made the game unbearable for me. Very small-time of Bioware.

I returned my DG2 to GameStop. Since it was opened They gave me in-store credit. Plus while on phone with EA games , they gave me $20.00 off EA Games .com. Maybe if they fix these issues I might try the game again in about 6months.
