So, against my better judgement and contrary to some of my post history I decided to pick up my copy of DA2... But now it begs the question, I decided to finalize my purchase of this product based on promises from the DEV TEAM and implied promises of quality and functionaltiy.

My List (which I reserve the right to add to as new issues arise) is as follows:

- MUST Add promised auto-attack option.
- MUST add support for 4:3 format display... This is inexcusable...

And you can't tell me you were not aware of these issues before launch... you just chose not to tell people about them... I honestly can't understand the practice of throwing your loyal customers under the ****ing bus rather than being transparent about flaws which I presume you intend to fix....

So if you could kindly advise when we will see a patch to fix these issues. I expect to be updated in this respect in the next 8 business hours. I presume these will be resolved before the week is out.

Bump.

Seriously, this is unacceptable. I REQUIRE an answer. Is a patch being worked on to fix these 2 issues? What is the ETA for the patch?

We're looking into these, and other issues. We do not currently have an ETA for a patch.

There will not be a patch by the end of the week - the time it takes between leaving the hands of internal testing (once we come up with a solution), through the distribution process and into your hands is more than a week alone, and completely outside our control.

Um yeah, you guys give us a product knowing it has major flaws just to make money... You can't even hardly see the dialogue options. The demo was better than the final, which is sad in itself.

Agreed. To overlook owners of SDTV's is a huge oversight. No, it's more than an oversight. Bioware, this is really rather pathetic. You make amazing games and I've been a loyal customer for years now, but I can't help feeling betrayed and cheated. I payed full price for this game and I can't even play it based on a disgusting error on your part.

I've lost faith in this company, and I'm positive many others have as well.

I'm going to be *SO* dramatic to feel like I fit in with these previous posts!! Or not...

I would like to see the auto-attack feature in the game... I thought it was said that the demo only had the push to attack because it was an older build or something.

Anyway, no sense being all dramatic... it wont help Bioware to move faster nor will it motivate them to ensure things like this don't happen in the future. I'm sure they've heard the reports and whoever is responsible for testing these things feels like a royal screw up. Adding in pointless comments on "I've lost my faith in you" is childish... please stop.

Any announcement of a patch on these forums would be greatly welcomed, so that some players can even play the game, and for those of us who like the PC version right now due to not having to button mash can know to head back to our 360 game.

The more I think about it, the more I get this terrible feeling in my bones that Microsift is the one responsible for this. I mean how many other of their GOOD games have come out with something like this? ME2 was PPIEW(pracically perfect in every way) when it was released. Dead Space 1 and 2 didnt have any problems like this; and DA1, though it had some internal bugs, didn't have anything that took away from the direct experience of the game.
Microsft has had many problems with compatability with certain games, i should not have to remind anyone about the Fable 3 fiasco. I still cant stand to even look at the case.
But here, with this bug we all know that it will be resolved. Its BIOWARE. They excell at excellent games. I may not be enjoying the visuals, but the story is still great.

LMAO.  Then clearly you never saw the list of unsolved bugs from DA:O and Awakenings that never got solved.  Bioware's writers and designers are top notch.  Their internal testing blows.  I've rarely seen worse testing and quality assurance.

Witch Hunt is a fine example.  Testers should have caught that import bug before users ever got that DLC in their hands.

And how is MICROSOFT at fault?  This game is screwd up on the PC, PS3 AND Xbox.

Ya, not buying M$ being at fault here... They were just bugs that the testers didn't think to check. Imo, DA:O and Awaking bugs were minor compared to the content you got. I never had a huge bug prevent something, just a few that made me glad I saved often.

Honestly, I wouldn't think to test the game on SDTVs or to try out on the slims, figured they were similar hardware to the normal 360s... evidently not. That's the problem with assuming... makes an a## out of u and me.

Edit: If we truly wanted to play a blame game one could throw a nod to EA, though I've been more than happy with BW games that have come out since the buyout, though.

For myself, I hardly call import bugs that ignore the choices I made in previous games such as in Awakenings or Witch Hunt to be minor.

And now we have this bug causing imports to be overwritten in the main game.

I agree 100%, we need proper video and text formatting for 4:3 SDTVs and auto-attack.

I strongly doubt we'll see a patch in the next couple weeks, but hopefully we'll get it soon.

Has BioWare officially said anything on this? I mean, I'll wait, but I'd like to know that what I'm waiting for is actually on the way. For all I know, they could be sitting there going "Too bad, SDTV owners. We'll fix the auto-attack, but the video format is your problem." It seems like any time these game programmer people say something, it's all vague and stuff, and it makes me nervous.

Should I be waiting for this patch, or should I take this game back? Should I advise my friends who were also planning to get this game in the near future to change their minds? I'm just trying to handle this in a practical manner.

First the small text, now no auto-attack.Oh btw; I don't know if it's because I have an SDTV/formatting or what but in the cutscenes, everyone looks smooshed. It's like I'm watching a european film. The characters don't look that way though when fighting or walking or in the CC.And the character picture is so small, I can barely see her.
I hope they fix this.

The auto attack thing was "semi" excusable but the aspect ratio thing is an insane oversight. Normally I have a fair ammount of respect for bioware but this is just stupid.

I only hope they will start working on this ASAP but they are too busy swimming in thier pool full of money.

Also anything saying if it will be fixed and when it will be fixed would be greatly appreciated so I know when I can actually go and play the game.

Hopefully they get this fixed in the next week or so, totally ridiculous considering the demo worked just fine aside for the tiny text.

PS: Add a way to adust the text size or just make it bigger!

Want the auto-attack option in.

I'm guessing the SDTV people are screwed. Like anyone asking for 800x600 resolutions on things nowadays it just isn't in the cards,

Also to everyone having problems you should most likely send in a support ticket if you have not yet. Can't hurt to increase the chances of it being fixed right?

auto attack would be nice, but i personally feel pushing the button lets you feel as though you are attacking rather than hitting it and sitting back drinking a cocktail :P.

I suddenly have this creeping suspicion, a horrifying suspicion, that... maybe they did the video format thing on purpose.

What if... What if this is just the first step of a push to strong-arm HD in as the new standard? A new era when SDTVs are just strictly outdated, and games simply aren't made to fit their format anymore?

But that's a silly idea, right?

If that's the case a warning would have been nice or at least a more accurate demo, but I guess they sell more copies this way right?

We should try to keep this thread alive, just saying >.>

Yeah, definitely want auto-attack. I want to play DA2, not Devil May Cry. Huge disappointment when I heard the feature hadn't made it into the console version.

i hate to be the one to break it to you, but you REALLY need to update your technology. 'Standard Deffinition' is no longer standard for video games, movies, or television. Reach way down deep and pull your head out of the hole you've been living in for the last eleven years. Now reach way, way down deep and get a 47" LED from wallyworld for $600, give your ancient-tech SDTV to a homeless person (tell him it's a time machine and that he should use it to go back and fix his life). Or give it to one of those emo-hipster brats still clinging to an Atari 2600, and poof!

Another big issue, and one that is apparently only happening on Xbox from what I've read, is the shield/armor glitch. That's the one that I can't get past, everything else is totally preference and no one can ever make EVERYONE happy. But the bug with the shields is pretty nuts.

I think that Bioware designed the game for HD on purpose. I recently had to get a new TV and although I knew I was getting a HDTV none of the various places I shopped around for even sold the SDTVs any more. It is just technological progression, why should Bioware spend the time and money to ensure compatability to an outdated format.  I realize that some people still have SDTVs but you are a minority and unless you must have the 50 inch screen you can get a decent base model hdtv which is 620p (I think) for around $200.

Nobody should have to buy a new TV to play a game that supports SDTV on every other format and on every other console (on a console that is itself shipped with composite cables standard). It's utterly bizarre to me how some cannot simply leave these threads alone if they don't have anything more intelligent or helpful to contribute than "LOL I HAVE HD AND YOU DON'T GET WITH THE TIMES LOSERS".

If you don't have a complain to lodge or a solution to offer, do everyone a favor and shut up.
