Okay, here's what I've got.

I'm using a downloaded version of the game from the EA store. I'm working with...
Processor: AMD Sempron™ Processor LE-1300 2.30GHz
RAM: 2.00GB (1.75GB Usable)
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
I'm afraid I can't find/figure out what version of DirectX I've got here. :(

Basically, every time I've turned on the game, it's been fine. I get to the main menu and it gives me four popups in succession:
Please insert a disk into a drive \\device\\harddisk\\dr1
Please insert a disk into a drive \\device\\harddisk\\dr2
Please insert a disk into a drive \\device\\harddisk\\dr3
Please insert a disk into a drive \\device\\harddisk\\dr4

I cancel all four of these and it lets me proceed with the game fine. First cutscene fine, no trouble. About a quarter/halfway through the initial fight with the Darkspawn, the game begins to skip, skips for a few seconds, then my entire screen goes black. It comes back to normal pretty quick, but the game stops responding, tries to fix an error, and crashes.

I really am sorry that I'm so bad with technology, I know it's gotta be frustrating trying to help somebody who can't figure out how to check her system information. >_>

I happen to be technologically retarded, so if someone could use small words to help me, that'd be great. I'm working on Windows 7.

May or may not be related, so the best thing is to start with the basics.

Read this original post of the sticky how to post a problem and then gather the info it asks for and post it as it says....

Details about your problem.
1. What is the nature of the problem you are seeing?
Example: No sound during a particular scene.
2. When did the problem start occurring?

Example: Every time you perform a certain action, after a certain

Ok, your cpu is a single core, basic model and probably can't handle the game, it is tied into the bare minimum gpu card to run the game, and depending on which operating system you are running it is all on a low amount of ram.  Direct X may also be an issue, but don't know, since you didn't post what it was.

So it comes down to your are trying to run a game that outclasses your machine.  You MAY get it to run if you lower EVERYTHING to basement quality and put up with issues.......maybe.

Best bet is to upgrade to a better machine that you can actually use for future games.

I did go to that page. I got as much info from my computer as I could find. As I said, twice, I am not very good with computers. I can't FIND the information I need to give you guys. I'm sorry, I know I probably seem like an idiot, but I'm really trying to find all the info I can. :(

My computer runs games fine, I've got a fair few games installed and this is the first one to ever really cause any problems.

I read some of the earlier posts with people having the same problem that I am, if maybe you guys wouldn't mind explaining how to go through the same steps they took to fix their issue, I could do that and see if it works. Again, I'm so sorry to be a nuisance, I really am.

I can't help with your issue. Did you log in and authorize the game?

To find out more info on your system you can use DXDiag.

To launch the DXDiag application on Windows XP, click Start -> Run... -> type in "dxdiag.exe" -> OK.
To launch the DXDiag application on Windows Vista or 7, click the Start button, type in "dxdiag.exe" in the text field at the bottom and press Enter.

In the newly opened DXDiag window, click "Save All Information..." and choose a location in which you want to save the file (your desktop, for instance).

You can also find some info under computer/control panel/system.

Best way is to start up the configuration utility the game gives you and list the data on the tabs as the sticky requests. But it still will not change the fact you are trying to run a high end game with a low end machine that doesn't meet minimum specs.

Celerons and Semprons are crippled in order to make them cheap. Games of this type are different from ordinary low- demand games, such as MMORPGs. It has a set of System Requirements that actually mean something. It requires a FULL-POWER processor, not just a half-power one.

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP 32-bit with SP3
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2
OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater

In other words, it makes no real difference in the short run whether or not you can get the system to ignore the additional storage devices.  I would have to know a lot more about the internals of that computer than I expect you could learn by yourself before being able to determine whether the low power CPU could be swapped out in favor of a game- capable replacement.
