Lol well when you say it like that it makes it sound like we enjoy tediousness.

You do.

No, we don't.

Not me at least.

We can speculate until we're all blue in the face, each of us will have a different opinion of the game but in the end we'll have to play it first before we can decide whether or not we like it

haha sure buddy...^ ultimate bioware/EA fan

so your telling me that the fans had no part into why da2 or me2 were made the way they were? if i remember correctly alot of fans wined about the mako and elevators and bioware took them out. and regardless what bioware does people still ****. and im not a fanboy but i am getting sick and tired of people saying they know what the whole mass effect fanbase wants., the other bs i see on these forums is me2 wasnt an rpg........ if thats the case did we or did we not decide the outcome of the game? just because alot of rpg fans are d and d players or jprg fans dosent mean mass effect or dragon age for that matter needs to mimic every other rpg out on the market. i personaly dont care for dragon age because im not into the whole knights in shiney armor thing but seriously people let mass effect be something new otherwise its just gona be a scifi version of final fantasy

Sorry brah, but i didn't ask for any of those changes to Mass Effect or Dragon Age games. The people bioware listened to are the people who don't like rpg, but like action games.

I actually think that Mass Effect 3 will be a wonderful combination of the things that made the first and second games wonderful.

Fingers crossed my estimation is not far off the mark.

Vain hope my dear!
The last information from G.I. seems to reveal an even more action oriented gameplay and more linear approach.

No exploration, No party management,  No looting, No inventory, No vehicle, No useful dialogue system, No rpg elements: they just seem to focus on new enemies, maps on more levels, customizable wepons (a la Crysis 2) , linear corridor maps, new arcade power-ups, new mele attacks.

That it: Gear of Effect 3 or Uncharted Mass 3.

Enjoy!

Hey old thread, I am sure glad I wasn't stupid enough to buy ME3 afterall!

Yeah, I haven't been to these forums for a while, but there appear to be alot of angry people around here!

I just played through the ME3 PC demo. A few observations

1. No graphics options other than changing the resolution.

2. Only one paragon and one renegade dialogue option, which don't appear to alter much. Much of the demo was like watching a movie with very little interaction.

3. During combat I was getting lots of clipping issues/weird camera angles. My aim kept getting obscured by bits of scenery, or bits of Shepard himself. Can't holster a weapon so the camera is permanently tight over Shep's shoulder - so can't get a good look around.

4. No Steam release. I have the first two on Steam, along with a ton of other games, and I don't want another client cluttering my hard drive just for one game - especially when Origin is in beta and appears to be... not very good, putting it politely.

I loved the first game - played every class (installing it again now). ME2 I found a much shallower experience and I only played it through twice (and got bored halfway through the second run). ME3 - I'll wait for a sale, just to see how the story winds up.

As i understand it EA/Bioware collects a lot of data or analytics from their titles. It is reasonable to assume that they use this data to inform certain design choices.
For example they collected data pertaining to the most popular classes in ME2 (anecdotal I know), but probably also where the most players died (easy to code), most used abilities, etc.

Additionally they may have played their own games and been like, "hey, even better if we did this, instead of that"

Design is subject to a lot of different variables, and this also includes the scope of the project, time constraints and resources that can be allocated to a given project. Although it's interesting to talk about I don't really see much value in coming up with "what they were thinking" scenarios to explain features you do or don't like. It is interesting though and I like reading it. So I hope that doesn't offend anyone.

It may be more constructive to write them yourselves.

Incidentally what do ya'll think of old republic. I love me some Imperial Agent gameplay.
