Which attribute to raise lockipicking for Rogues?  Or does it go by level? Did not see anything in the manual about it and it appears all the skill tree's are now combat related.

Cunning, each level increases at 10, 20, 30, and 40 points.

What SnoBob said. When leveling up if you choose a certain stat a little blurb will say "This stat increases such and such ability".

I actually like this approach so far. Rogues benefit alot from cunning so instead of wasting Ability Points on lockpicking it will natrually progress as you do.

While I was playing DA:O I was trying to keep my lockpicking up, but by endgame it wasn't up to snuff because I wanted to stack points into dishing out damage.

it's rather lame because it severely limit where you can put your attribute as a rogue. I have to pump almost everything into Cunning just so they can pick locks? Bleh...

Cunning is our biggest damage stat if you take assassin... what's not to like?

Agreed, you're going to do CUN anyway.

Also, it says it in the helpful hints on the first "locked" chest you run into but the breakdown is as follows:

Chest types and CUN points required to open: Basic (10), Advanced (20), Expert (30), Master (40)
**Note my verbage may be off a little**

So far, at level 7, the chests are full of junk for the most part. It's looking like you can complete the game just fine, at least on normal mode, without picking a single lock. So, I don't see this as a hot button issue.

Cunning is so awesome....

Rogue with Duelist/Assasin. 80% defense and massive crits.

Yes it's so awesome that Isabella can't use half of the weapon I find because she has such low dex, just freaking awesome...actually no, go play on nightmare and then tell me how great Cun is when you have awful Con in return.

It sounds to me like you're blaming the Rogue class on being a bad player.

No, I'm blaming the design decision that pigeon-hole my rogue into specific build if I even want to have the remote possibility of picking all the locks and disarming all the trap in my game. Complex trap shows up as early as the end of Act 1, Master chests can be found a few quest into Act 2. Don't pick locks or disarm traps then you say? Why do we even HAVE a rogue class in the game then? Such amazing improvement they made over the game from DA:O, I'm genuinely impressed...

I'm trying to save your life man. You should know better than to come on Bioware forums and talk like this.

It might be the END OF THE LINE soon...

Respec her?

As for Con basically anything that isn't a Warrior or a Blood Mage has that problem. At least a Rogue has some defense.

The trade off with Rogues is that they are awesome at single target damage. Considering that pretty much all of the hardest fights consist of big nasties that's not a bad niche to have.

Use another rogue in your party for lockpicking, instead of wasting points on your own character, that's what i'm doing and i also did it in Dragon Age:Origins :)
