The Gamma only goes up to 1 and half the light bar is still pitch black.  I try to change the brightness or gamma with my Nvidia control panel and the game does not care.  It still forces everything dark.

I can't see a damn thing.  Why the hell would you only have the gamma go up to 1?  I'm told it's a pretty game.  If only I could see it.

Mine isn't pitch black, but it is very dark and hard to see what's going on. Radeon 5850 with latest drivers.

Oddly, it looks fine in Windowed mode. It's only super dark in full screen.

I'm having the same problem. Screen is dark. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop. It meets all the game requirements.

This is typical "etc."

Nvidia GeForce GTS 250
Driver 266.58
DirectX 11
DVI to a flat panel

It's not that the entire screen is pitch black, but fully half of the greyscale bar under the gamma adjustment is. The in game gamma adjustment won't go above 1, and the game does not seem to respect the settings of the graphics driver if I try to up the gamma/brightness there and instruct it to control such things. As soon as I switch to the game in full screen or windowed mode, everything goes dark.

Not really, not if it's a laptop.

Laptop or mobile versions of the above supported video cards
have not had extensive testing and may have driver or other
performance issues. As such, they are not officially
supported in Dragon Age II.

Lets see if the forums let me post *this* time.

Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Processor Name / Type: Core i7 920 (8CPUs)
Processor Speed: 2.7GHz
Operating System / Service Pack: Win7 Home Premium 64bit
System RAM: 6 GBs
Video (GPU) Manufacturer: Nvidia
Video Card Model: Geforce GTS 250
Video Card Driver Version: Catalyst 266.58
Video Card onboard RAM: 4G
Sound Card Manufacturer: Realtek
Sound Card Model:
DirectX: 11

I've turned the brightness and gamma to max on my monitor. I've duct taped aluminum foil over the windows in my office. I dragged a large carpet over the skylight on the roof. I've put little bits of electrical tape over all the LEDs on the computers. Now I can make out a little more of what is on the screen, but it is still pretty dark. There is still a little light getting through the edges of the office door too, I'll have to tape that shut.
I have a mini fridge and a camper potty in the garage that should come in handy if I have to nail the door shut.
