i go through beginging with the whole legend story and then when you get to go to appearance everything is grayed out just like the demo...i cant edit anything but i was successful at loading my dao file...i cant even chose a different preset. did i miss something or do something wrong? its not that big of a deal because i think default female hawke is great.

You cannot modify the initial preset appearance. Change to a different appearance, and you should be able to alter things.

I am having the same problem, when I get to the character creation screen I can't modify anything.
