i dont know how to get him and how to get quest to get him, where is it at? Please

If my memory serves, the quest was called "Bait and Switch" (or something like that). You have to agree to help a dwarf get back his stolen lyrium when you ... well, you'll see. ;-)

Has anyone had trouble actually opening the locked door in the mansion, or finding the Magister? I appear to be stuck with no way out, aside from going back a few hours of gameplay.

Head back to the beginning. I believe you can get the key off of the body of a demon. I think I picked up a key, I'm in the middle of this quest, game's off, eating supper, but I seem to recall getting a key off of something in the side rooms before you go up the staircase.

AS Aslan said "Further up and further in." You cannot get ino the Magisters room at first, work you way to the far back of the house and you will find the key. As to the Magister, well that is part of the surprise.

I think this quest is rather glitchy. I have killed everything inside, searched every room and looted all the chests with no key found. I had no problem getting it on my first playthrough, though.

I guess I have to reload and hope that the demon corpse actually shows up this time.

The key is there on a demon's body in one of the last rooms where there's a fight.

Why'd I have to lose Isabela and Bethany but not Fenris. Whatever, killing him gave me consolation....

No.  You have to recruit him in Act 1 but you can get him quite early. 

All you need to do is complete 'A Business Proposition' then check in Gamlen's house for mail and you should pick up the quest.  Other quests sometimes turn up that way too so if you never check the mail, you'll miss out on stuff.
