The game is called Dragon Age "Origins", and I imagine this won't be the last time you use your character and his/her partners. Its frustrating because its easy to look at a wrapped up and complete packaged like Baldurs Gate and forget there were times when those endings seemed inconclusive. But eventually, through a sequel and great expansion, every characters meets the end they deserve.

i will be cheering from the grave.. <_<

Which could indicate its the "Origins" of what is to occur in the "Big Battle" or the "Main Story" as opposed to it simply being Origins because characters have origin stories or the origins of the "Main Character".

I agree with the OP here. The ending was not up to par with the game at all. No cutscene just lame text paragraphed endings.

The whole main story (as i did it) turned out a bit weird and felt short to me. I first went to all the other cities.I did the redcliff quest last. Then went to the capitol... I thought i just STARTED the game but BAM after a blink of an eye i was standing over the archdemons dead body with sword in hand... And the darkspawn before the last fight were all one-shotted! (except the alphas ofcourse)... I was actually expecting it to be an epic fight... The main story taking twist and turns like the gathering army sidequests... But sadly it didn't. It took me around 80 hours to go around the world and gather armies. And around 2-3 hours for the MAIN quest in denerim..Kinda lame.

I think we just have to be patient. I think there were so many blatant hints about what we can expect (the dark promise achievement for morrigan for example) so I am sure one way or the other we will see many of the plotholes filled in. Hopefully sometime next year we will be playing some good DLC or even are looking forward to an expansion. Until then, this was an excellent gaming experience and one maybe worthy of even knocking Baldurs Gate II down as my favorite...that is, if we get to see what happens to our character...

I liked the story of the endings, but I wish we could have seen a little more. It did seem a bit abrupt after being so emotionally involved through the entire game. Of course, death is rather abrupt... but even if you choose to live, it would have been nice to see a little more of what was written in the little boxes.

They have a few banks full of money, they have an engine (Buggy though it may be), they have the talent. Should take far less than another 5 years.

It took three years for Baldurs Gate series to complete (two expansions and one sequel) and two years for ME 2 to come out. Hopefully in a few years we'll be playing DA 2: Give me back my Son!!!!

I expect more something along the lines of "DA 2: Just kill that evil hellspawn already!!!!"

I, for one, liked the endings on my first playthrough, and I got to say, for my character they turned out pretty bittersweet.

I chose to spare Loghain, and was pretty surprised to see Alistair react so forecully, but it wasn't in my character's character to change his mind at that point. Alistair was my character's BFF (or so he thought), so that was a blow for him. My character was also in love with Morrigan, but didn't want to create a darkspawn monster, so she left him as well on the eve of battle. My character was sure disappointed, but I definitely wasn't. I mean, it's a sad story, and definitely not the ending I would have wished for my character, but I still like it because it was consistent with the characters and the setting. Well, that Alistair suddenly found the guts to actually do something was a bit surprising, but still...

Since this game is more influenced by realism than most other fantasy games, it's actually pretty nice to see a game ending where the world goes on, and where new problems constantly arises.

Well, Duh. No suprise this is getting a sequel. The games ending sort of hints at it strongly. Hopefully it will only take 2 years just like mass effect 2.

It had better come out before the Mayans/Climate Change/Peak oil kills us all.  I have solar panels set up to survive the apocalypse just long enough to beat the sequel...

Only takes a mod to change that.

I would like to see such mod.... Would even be willing to pay for it, should Bioware get convinced to make an "official" one, with more endings for the various origins characters...

Just a quickie to add -- yes, I felt a bit let down by the lack of much of a cut scene at the end. I really kind of wanted to see my crowds of adoring fans, at least briefly. Not to mention that several of the PCs say, "We can talk after!" and then no, smashcut to credits. Which I sat through, all of them, even reading the names. (Because Bioware is awesome.)

...and because I was hoping for a movie at the end. No such luck. :/ Still, with toolsets, I am hoping that clever people start making some proper cut scenes to end the story with. Right? Right people? Can anyone do a credible Alistair impression?

The only negative thing about the ending imo was that there was no narrator to read the "cards" of 'what happened next' based on my actions in the game.

What irritates me in connection to the ring is that the final text mentions the PC is able to recognize that Morrigan is sad only after you have talked to her before the final battle about he last night. But through that the relationship changes from love to friendship. In my opinion that message should appear when Morrigan loves you and not when she is only a friend.

The ending was good for me except the morrigan part. Disappointed that there's no way to have a good ending if you romance her.

The ending isn't the greatest thing in the game but it is certainly much better then a lot of recent games I have played. Fallout 3 had an awful ending that didn't even make sense.

Hopefully any sequel will not be a straight continuation of this characters story. I was expecting the racism for non human characters and fear of mages to have a much bigger effect on the game. As a mage I can only think of two people in the whole game who were outright afraid of me, and that was only because I told them I was a mage, and it only lasted until they learnt I was a Grey Warden then they seemed to totally forget about it. Even without any coercion skills and low cunning I was still able to talk people into letting Maleficars live, and reson with Templars who should of been trying to destroy Apostates and Maleficars no matter what. I mean Morigan right out tells a Templar she is a Apostate in Lothering and he doesn't seem to even give a crap . Any sequel should remove the Grey Warden saviour of the land so gets special treatment rubbish.
