Hmmm talking to him wasn' an option cause he was bat**** crazy, however it was on his corpse.  Possibly differences in choices made during the game whether he's insane or not?

What was ment is, that either way, you need to kill him since he has, indeed, gone batsh*t crazy. It'll be on his corpse, so it's ''automatic''.

I accidentally sold my gauntlets of the champion...is there a way of getting them back? Too late for buyback

You probably sold them.  They are in your inventory the moment you start Act III.

You should be able to go back to that merchant and buy them if I recall correctly.  You will lose a fair bit of money as a result though.

I've checked just about every merchant I can think of...and I'm still in act 3.

Demands of the Qun as a quest reward is a more accurate location of the gauntlets if I remember correctly.

Sadly I think I accidentally sold my Gauntlets of the Champion. I had no idea the game dropped it into my inventory at the beginning of Act 3 and it must have gotten lost in all the useless trash armor I picked up...

Thanks for this, just reached act 3, and was wondering why I only had the gloves.

Does anyone know the bonus stats for wearing the whole set?

Not sure about the other classes but the Warriors version gives Strength +3 and Armor +5%. I imagine that the other classes get something similar.

what level would you suggest for fighting the high dragon?

I believe I was somewhere in the 14-15 range when I killed the high dragon.  It was my first stop in Act 3 because I didn't expect one of the hardest fights to randomly be in the Bone Pits, as all indications otherwise pointed that this quest would be another run of the mill clearing of a few monsters.

Basically you want to have a good number of health potions, good position (spread out so the dragon's fireball doesn't hit multiple people) and kill the dragonlings as fast as possible with area of effect attacks.

For the people asking for set bonus:

Warrior: +3 strength, +5% defense (someone stated previously in this post)
Mage: +3 magic, +5% defense
Based on this, I'd reckon the rogue is:
Rogue: +3 dexterity, +5% defense

Giving this thread a little bump due to it being quite useful... answered my question before I could ask it. ;)

The dragon is the most difficult of the quests to get this by far. I did alright at level 17 with 2h warrior hawke, Isabella for backstabbery, and Varick for ranged dps/rips the crap out of the massed dragonlings, and Anders, for healing/spell whoopass. Anders requires a lot of micro, since you need to switch him between his damage mode and healing mode, which lets you revive/mass heal but prevents you from casting all offensive spells. It's a long fight regardless, so make sure you've got sufficient potions/draughts/lyrium potions. I also brought a long a bunch of potions of restoration, which streamlined the whole process a bit.

No joke, man.  I still need to beat that thing.  I stumbled into him entirely by accident and was NOT prepared.  Holy mother.

I had a pretty rough time with it... didn't bring enough healing potions with me and Anders went down. Only one warrior (me), and not built as a tank. Managed to pull it off, but completely out of potions and a few more hits from getting wiped.

Dueling the Arishok was a bit harder. Pr would have been, if I hadn't kited him.... which felt absolutely cheesy as a warrior.

When I fought the High Dragon, I believe I was Level 18.

I was an Archer Rogue Shadow Assassin.

Isabella, Varric, and Sebastian with me.

Isabella and Varric went down with about 35% of the thing's health left, so me and Seb had to shoot the hell out of it till it fell.

Took me one try, most of my health potions and stamina draughts.

Totally worth it.

This is not the high dragon from DA:O. This dragon is lazy, hits like a lieutenant rather than a boss, and is very reluctant to attack anything not in melee range.

It just sat there tickling fenris while I stood no more than 15 feet away with my bow and fired 700-point auto-shot crits at it for 5 mins.

It is so lazy infact, that it would rather lay on its sofa while you slay it's entire brood....

Lazy dragon is lazy....

Fight it whenever you like. It is not even in the top 10 fights on normal.

Hard and NM may be different, but my experience is that while the fights are tuned more tightly, they do not change in difficulty relative to other fights.

ARCHERS:  Don't sell your bow when you get the Jackal.  All the mages in the main story quest will resist most of hte damage.  you will still need Cynoeswr Sain.

Mage version of the Champion helm does not match the rest of the outfit, looks so out of place.

To those looking for the Champion's daggers, apart from Finesse which a certain elf gives you in a quest, I found something that sports the same style. It's called the Spider's Heart; you can buy it from the weapons merchant in the Gallows. Stats aren't so great though, and it isn't in Red Steel so the colors don't match.

EDIT: This is in Act 3, by the way.

Mage's friend is a good match for the set.
