I'm wondering if there's any mod or anything at all that would allow me to change what abilities my characters took before I had the chance to allocate them myself. I especially am not fond of the fact that Hawke already has an ability chosen before I have any influence over it. Thanks! Loving the game, otherwise.
Any possible way to change companion abilities?

The Dark Emporium supposedly has an item you can buy that allows you to respec abilities. Also, I doubt it would allow you to change the first ability.
In the manual it tells you:
Warrior - Pommel Strike
Mage - Mind Blast
Rogue - Evade? (the backflip one)

You can purchase a potion (Maker's Sigh) at the Dark Emporium for 1 gold, 34 silver and 75 copper, and it completely resets the character's Attributes, Specs and spells/talents.

Also, it did allow me to change even the first ability in case anyone was wondering. Thanks.

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but I used a Maker's Sigh (From the Black Emporium) to respec out of Maismic Flask for my rogue and got ALL of my points back. So I put the points into the talents I wanted and continued playing. I looked back later and I had Maismic Flask again... but I didn't put any points into it. Is this a glitch or are you not allowed to get rid of your starter skill?

In another thread someone mentioned a glitch where you can keep abilities that you had before respec by having them in your quickbar. Haven't tried it myself, but that could be what you are running in to.
