So many different view points on Dragon Age 2 , it's like these people are reviewing different games. One review i read gave it a 6/10 and said how bland the story and characters are, the next one i read is a 10/10 saying how amazing the characters and story are. Then i read a review giving a 7/10, yet praising how breath taking the story is. Some of these scores and reviews don't match up.

This would have to be the most bipolar set of reviews on a game i've ever seen.

I've even seen reviews calling Dragon Age 2 a declaration of war against the PC gamers

that and scores of 12/20 in France

metacritic is at 5.5/10 right now

It's almost like these reviews are subject to the bias/personal opinion of the actual reviwer... Wow, that's a scary thought

EDIT: 'a declaration of war against the PC gamers' Wow, I would love to hear their reasoning behind that...

People want this game to be bad, I've no idea why, I guess they built it up so much in their heads over the past few years and at some point they decided they'd have more fun tearing it down for not being to the ridiculous standards they built up in expectation.

Honestly, get the game and play it yourself. For me its had a good start, the only part thats bothered me in the slighest is that I've not got to a part in the story yet where I'm absolutely enthralled to continue playing. But I'm hoping that'll come as I get further into the main quest

Most negative reviews are just from trolls who played the demo and didn't like it:

Terrible game on all platforms. 2003 graphics, mediocre gameplay, underwhelming story. Just go replay Dragon Age: Origins or Neverwinter Nights 2 instead and avoid this disaster. Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, MY ASS!

Boring, boring and boring ... Can't even compare it to DA:O not to mention BioWare's older RPG games. Incredible disappointment. No much more to say.

I'm not sure why they even released this for the PC. Almost everything in the game was dumbed down to give a better experience for consoles. Why not go the extra mile and just not release it for PC? Bioware's games have always been extraordinary, but I can't in good faith give this higher than a two. They need to understand that you can't make games like this just because of your reputation.

None say why they hate it. They just claim how the graphics are like 2003 graphics and how it's been dumbed down for consoles. They did the same with ME2 didn't they? I guess these are just some PC gamers who hate how some things were taken out.

How disingenuous of you. Those are User scores. In other words, the most rage-filled individuals with the most time on their hands raging on the interwebs.

Metacritics CRITICAL review score is 85/100 out of 10 reviews. Oh, but that doesn't fit your narrative. Carry on.

If there's one thing people on the internet enjoy more than a great game, its tearing something down that people "expect" to be great. Whether it is great or not.

Now the embargo is over you will see a wider spread of scores. Notice all the early scores from "English" sources were on the high side of the scale.

What kind of nonsense is that? You aren't seriously quoting the user review average as the Metacritic score, are you?
Some official reviews might be more difficult than others to find trustworthy, but more often than not that applies tenfold to user reviews. I'm not saying those users are lying, but typically the only ones bothering to give their opinion on Metacritic are the ones who feel extremely strongly about a game - whether for or against. At least with the official review average you're going to get a more even spread of opinions.

The current Metascore for the PC version of DA2 is 85, and 84 for the two console versions.

Metacritic; it's nice to see the PC gamers have somewhere to go/something to do until Witcher 2 and the new TES comes out. Good for them :)

Now i don't have DA2 a) Live in England B) waiting to read more reviews and some trusted friend reviews, but i do wonder if Deus Ex 3 (yes different type of game but same style rpg funtion) did come out today like it was ment to be before being put back till August, how would have DA2 would have been reviewed by all these sites and users? Would have been intresting to see but alas will never know.

Haters are saying any good review had been bought and any bad/average review is honest. My personal take, different reviewers are giving different weight to differing aspects of DA2.

Conspiracies again? :P

The worst reviews I've seen are from french sources and those were downrated mostly due to bad localization (and some cases of nostalgia googles), sigh what did they expect?

Completely agreed.

Normally Gamespot's ratings are completely insane for some games (they rate it bad, users rate it high)
I tend to listen to what the users have to say, and not the Gamespot reviewers

Now I know the "Omg Gamespot's reviews blow ass through a straw", but I'm just giving an example.
I'm just pointing out the ratio of reviews, 70 people say bad, 10 people say good.

So take those 70 reviews with a big bag of salt, as 60% of those are probably band wagon thrashers

19 reviewers didn't like the PC version of DAII. More than 40 didn't like Origins. Before judging, wait until the game has been out for at least a week. Most of those reviews are obviously just troll reviews. Zeros and ones? Seriously? These are the people who have played the demo and didn't enjoy it or have played two - three hours. Not many games deserve zeros and ones. That's saying that the game has no good qualities. So nope, I'm not listening to them. Sorry.

Having played the game for almost 12 hours so far, and usually having high standards for RPGs, I will say this...

Those user scores are full of horse****. I only have one complaint for DA2. ONE. That they didn't make enough maps for random encounter areas. That's it. For me it improves on everything I was annoyed by in Origins.

Ten to one the user reviews are RPG Codex trolls who should have been put out to pasture when Troika closed.

The general magazine reviews seem positive.
Xbox: 85
PC & PS3: 84

It just seems to be that a lot of people are instantly coming on to metacritic to complain. Especially having read a few of them like this:

"What sucks is all the hype around this for a lackluster game. "Oh DA2 is da best game ever!" Then once you play it, you trade it in and say "I can't believe I gave into hype." I can't believe the words "hype", "improvement", and better yet, "critics." Improvment. What? I thought this was the first game. Hype. Yeah, hype over nothing. Critics. They're just jumping on the "big name" bandwagon that critics jump in. They give alot of positive reviews to crappy games. Just because it's a big name. Do yourself a favor, and avoid."

This seems to be a bit... ridiculous if I am honest.

Not to mention the ones who actually enjoy the game are away, you know, actually playing it. And, honestly, you think whiners who couldn't possibly have played the game for more than a couple of hours (if even that) would give it a just and thought-out score? Really now?

To add to my previous post, most people who have rated it bad haven't rated any other games on metacritic :P there were one that had given some tens to bulletstorm, gears of war (a 0 to halo3 and calling it fanboy town) and so on :P
