I must admit, this is one of the saddest things I have seen in my life.

I mean I haven't even played DA2 yet, and these guys are pouring out of the woodwork to try and cripple its rating simply because they didn't like a few changes? What the hell is WRONG with them.

Ten to one the user reviews are RPG Codex trolls who should have been put out to pasture when Troika closed.

What, you mean they prefer their games buggy and unfinished? I'm looking at you, Bloodlines.

If there's one thing people on the internet enjoy more than a great game, its tearing something down that people "expect" to be great. Whether it is great or not.

Maybe I'm old school use to great or very good  PC  games like Planescape Torment ,BG2 etc where games had depth, great story and tactics, not to meantion a lot  more  thinking involved, why  should  we expect less nowadays just because we now have consoles?

They like to dumb down  everything ,our IQs have not dropped .
DA2 is not terrible game  but its not a great game or classic, shame a lot of  people nowadays expect less when it comes to RPG standards  IMHO.

It seems every year the standards are dropping, how much more can things be dumbed down?..What has happened to the  standards of old school  RPGs.

Lets hope" The Witcher 2" lives up to expectations.

4.0, 82 ratings now.

I suppose the good thing about Amazon not shipping (or even prepping to ship) my order yet is that I can still cancel if things keep going this way...

The game informer reveiw is good and sums up dragon age 2 in a nut shell.
http://www.gameinfor...om/reviews.aspx

here is some of the reveiw

On all platforms, Dragon Age II caters to an audience that didn’t
connect with Origins, while alienating those who did. This may result in
a better console experience, but considering that Dragon Age: Origins
was a love letter to old-school PC RPGs, BioWare’s neglect of the
sequel’s PC release is tragic. I appreciate the technical refinements,
but improving the polish doesn’t do much good when the basics still need
work.

I actually think the review that fits my view on the game is the G4 one. They brought up the good things and the bad the Bioware did with DA2. I might have given it a 3.5 or 4 out of 5 instead of the 3 but I have a tendency too look past some of the things that disappointed me or I found odd with DA2 since I did enjoy it. I do have to say I really wish they had made more then like 5 total caves/dungeons for this game. Little disappointing to go to the same cave twice for two totally different side quests.

It's a bit odd that most game sites give heaps of negative criticism but they still give overly-high grades for DA2... I'll just wait for RPGcodex's LP, way more funnier and maybe even more accurate.

I think it's a case of people like different things in games. Like the above poster, I hold BG2 and Torment very close to my heart, buy can't for the life of me figure out why you're looking forward to W2 after the first one!

Different strokes and all.

This.

It IS sad. You wonder what's going on, or lacking, in people's lives to do things like that. Not just for this game, but for others and movies and books, etc.

It's plain sad, and more than a little pathetic.

Metacritic's user scores are worthless.

People don't actually give ratings based on how they feel about the game.

Person A thinks the game was a 7/10, but the user reviews so far are 8.5/10 so he rates it a 1/10 to move the rating closer to where he thinks it should be.
Person B thinks the game is a 6/10, but he's disappointed the game isn't as much like the original or he doesn't like the DRM, so he rates it 0/10.
Person C thinks the game is 8/10, but now the score has dropped to 5/10 so he rates it 10/10 to get it closer to where he thinks it should be.

Etc.

All of these scores are worthless.

Might be a bit of nostalgia googles for those games, just saying, doesn't have to be the case though of course.

Also, hate break it to you but the average IQ have drop by around 20 the last decade :P

This and not to mention that some user reviews on metacritic are bashing/hate posts on the positive reviews.

People should judge the game by themselves, not by looking at some numbers

Oh please, people are already starting to whinge about TW2.  Unless you can physically see the dices being rolled, I don't think your sect of 'old school RPG-ers' will ever be happy.

When I watch movie trailers and sneak previews, I can tell within a matter of moments on how something relates to my tastes. Regardless about who is writing the reviews (game magazine, gamer, etc...), their opinion is always going to be subjective. After watching the online trailers, game-play interviews, and experiencing the demo, I was able to form a personal opinion about "Dragon Age II". Everyone sees the world differently, and I am perfectly fine with alternative opinions.

As for the subject at hand, I kind of knew there was going to be mixed reviews. Upon noticing many repetitive elements (Darkspawn, Blight, Chantary, etc...) in the preview content, I had a feeling "Dragon Age II" was going to be boring to a few fans. "Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening" was a preview to the future. Once you go through the first game, the repetitive use of story elements makes you exhausted. Keep in mind that I just successfully finished "Awakenings" for the first time this afternoon.

Truthfully, most of the reviews that harp on about the game not being a Baldur's Gate successor do not faze me in the least. I loved DAO, but that was because of it's story, characters and soundtrack (Yes, soundtrack is a very large part in whether or not i like a game). If DA2 delivers on these aspects, i will be very pleased.

What worries me about this game, is that it is setting a pattern with Bioware. Create a stellar game, make a ton of money off it. Then create a dumbed down sequel hoping it will appeal to even more people, not caring that it will ****** off most fans of the original because they know we will buy it anyways

They did it with ME2, now with DA2, and probably would have done it with KOTOR2 if they had made it. People were happy with the originals, there is no other excuse other then greed for making such radical changes that completely change the mechanics and formula of what made that franchise popular to begin with.

I refuse to believe that anyone actually pays attention to the Metacritic user score. It's simply laughable.

Havent played DA2 so ill skip making judgment about it, im sure the game is good, alot of folks will be in awe with it, however... DAO was amazing, if anything bioware should be working on a full decent sequel that would answer so many of the questions we had at the end of the game, but instead they choose to turn the game into a mass effect clone with swords and worst of all they decided to ignore our character, our warden and force upon us commander shepard with a beard, keep in mind most of the " not so good reviews " like IGN or gamespot gave DAO 9+ scores, and they as many of us fail to grasp why change what was good and what worked so well.

anyway i bought DA2 , ill play it, im sure ill enjoy it, but i still dont understand with bioware decided to shoot their foot on this one.
