But think about it, before Dragon Age II, the reviews were very, very favorable. What had gone wrong in the sequel to cause this to happen?
Before DA 2 there were already DLCs, so the DLC hating horde cannot possibly materialize. It must be something else.
Bioware going against it's original mantra of making a name for themselves through quality first and foremost.
Dragon age 2 is the worst reviewed game by Bioware after the sonic rpg.The game has been developed in a way which doesn't favor quality in any shape or form, with a ridiculously short development time and horrific art design and a mediocre game engine.
A studio who claims that they promote and sell their game because of the quality behind it as the best kind of promotion simply doesn't release a game like Dragon age 2.

I LOL'ed. Good humor, and good point. I didn't mean to be so obtuse, I just don't understand how we can go from the narrative quality in the aforementioned two novels, the distinct origin stories and main blight in DA:O, from all of that richness, to the bland, boring "The Hero of Kirkwall".
Does not compute.

It's almost like these reviews are subject to the bias/personal opinion of the actual reviwer... Wow, that's a scary thought
EDIT: 'a declaration of war against the PC gamers' Wow, I would love to hear their reasoning behind that...
I would like to have a link to the article myself, after looking at the demo and following the development as close as i did i just felt Bioware would not be able to help themselves and the Mass Effectization of the beloved DOA would be its downfall as seems to be the case. No i have not played anything but the demo but with the mixed reviews some as the above being just down right nasty the development team at Bioware responsible for this game had better hope for lubricant. Maybe they will learn thier lesson if it is not broken do not fix it. Anyway waiting for the game to drop in price i WAS figuring probably about 3 months before i would be able to by a copy for 30 to 40 bucks. But with the mixed reviews and the hostility of some of the reviews i may not have to wait much past April first.
I am not here to gloat, i am really sad that the game is not as fantastic as i had hoped and even though i canceled my pre order after playing the demo if the game got good reviews i would have been willing to pick a copy up locally today. But when i saw the reviews not just from the other sources BUT most importantly the mixed reviews of the folks on these forums, i am sad to say this but i am glad i did cancel my pre order and saved myself a few bucks. I would have gladly parted with twice the amount of money for something worthy of the Dragon Age name but sadly from everything i have read here on these boards DA2 is not.
Anyway beter luck next time guys and remember "If it is NOT broken do not fix it".

What a load of crap. " Dragon Age II on PC does not have the same tactical pause-and-play combat as its predecessor"
Is there space bar broken. I seem to be able to pause just fine. Not being able to zoom out does not mean the game is less tactical.
I also am sick of the PC comunity. I am a PC gamer and will stand by it to I die, but lowering a score because we did not get a better verson then people who paid the same money is a bunch a BS. It is fine to give more to the PC gamers, DICE for example is makeing extra goodies for the PC for battlefeid 3, is fine; in fact I love it. But to claim it as a birth right that we should always have the better versoin is not right.
Asking for camera views that are better suited to PC (and also appeared in the previous game) is not asking for special treatment.
If you really wanna talk about special treatment, if we can't get the overhead camera view, why can't we get the option to play with a controller then?

The low scored user reviews on Metacritic are reminding me of the hordes of Amazon.com reviewers that will give any game with any form ofDLCDRM a 1 or 2, regardless of the game itself.
Also, while I count myself as a PC gamer first and foremost, I find myself increasingly ashamed to be lumped in as one right alongside the gamers complaining that DA2 was given more attention to its console versions than DA:O had. I'm tired of elitism, on either side. I just happen to see it happening more on the PC side.
On a related note, phrases like "console kiddies" and stating that the game was "dumbed down for consoles" seem more geared towards pissing people off than conveying any sort of cogent argument about the game itself. I don't mind when people take issue with some of the changes made in this sequel, but seeing those terms just irks me. Streamlining features does not equal "dumbing them down."
EDIT: acronym fail.

I stand corrected, Metacritic has dropped to
4.4/10
How disingenuous of you. Those are User scores. In other words, the most rage-filled individuals with the most time on their hands raging on the interwebs.
Metacritics CRITICAL review score is 85/100 out of 10 reviews. Oh, but that doesn't fit your narrative. Carry on.
Metacritic: Dargon Age 2.
A score of 83/100 now and 3.8/10 from users at the time I entered this post.
Compare that to...
Metacritic: Dragon Age.
A score of 87/100 and 7.7/10 from users.
Those same rage filled individuals seem to have a lot less rage there.

Few things here. First off that's just one of 3 rateings As of now they are...
DA2: Xbox - 83, PS3 - 83, PC - 84
DAO: Xbox - 86, PS3 - 87, PC - 91
3 point drop on xbox, 4 on PS3 and 7 point drop on PC. That's nothing to critizse and means that so far reviewers like it as much as they did the original except on PC.
Second those rage filled infividuals were noexistent when the first game realised and they didn't have a previous version that DA:O changed it's gameplay, story telling, and choice selection methods from.

Most negative reviews are just from trolls who played the demo and didn't like it:
Terrible game on all platforms. 2003 graphics, mediocre gameplay, underwhelming story. Just go replay Dragon Age: Origins or Neverwinter Nights 2 instead and avoid this disaster. Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, MY ASS!
Boring, boring and boring ... Can't even compare it to DA:O not to mention BioWare's older RPG games. Incredible disappointment. No much more to say.
I'm not sure why they even released this for the PC. Almost everything in the game was dumbed down to give a better experience for consoles. Why not go the extra mile and just not release it for PC? Bioware's games have always been extraordinary, but I can't in good faith give this higher than a two. They need to understand that you can't make games like this just because of your reputation.
None say why they hate it. They just claim how the graphics are like 2003 graphics and how it's been dumbed down for consoles. They did the same with ME2 didn't they? I guess these are just some PC gamers who hate how some things were taken out.
If you just dismiss the negative reviews as trolls do you also dismiss the positive reviews as fanbois?
Remove all the 1s and all the 10s maybe?

PC version of Dragon age:origins was 91 so that's the biggest drop (the 8.4 is for user reviews).

Currently there's about 21 ZERO scores on Metacritic. They should be deleted right now. Not too hard to guess their intent... especially when you get great "reviews" like this:
"so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so
bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so
bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so bad so

I'm all for constructive criticisms, but when these "criticisms" are everywhere on the forums and you're just trying to find a friendly topic to waste away your time, it gets very tiring.

There has been a mass spam on /v/ accusing that we have somehow raided and bombed Metacritic with negative reviews. Let us clear it up.
WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING.
We did not do it.
At least not intentionally or through a consensus.
THERE WAS NO RAID ON METACRITIC TO BEAM DOWN THE SCORES.
Believe it. I am honest. Its an actual spontaneous reaction.
Now please stop trolling us and restrict future butthurt to your own forums. We like to discuss our own rotten games in peace.

My father absolutely hates the game.
I am a lot more forgiving.
I think for us the main gripe is that it feels like a little on the hacky slashy side borrowing elements from silly jrpgs with their impossible swords. Really, if a person had a sword that huge they could not move that fast.
People complain about the graphics being very bad. I am not sure what they are talking about because these graphics are far superior than the first dragon age. Absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.
I cant quite put my finger on it, something about how dragon age II as a whole feels odd. It feels like a console game ported to the PC, it is rather unsettling.
Hawke is pretty badass.
Right now, I am rather disappointed but because I adore BioWare I will give it a chance
I will also forgive BioWare for everything I dislike about this game and blame EA because blaming EA for things is always more fun
and what is this witcher game everyone is talking about. I am now intrigued. Is it supposed to be like dragon age?
