I think the glitch might have to do with some of the dlc. Try taking off your equipment then going into the cutscene to see if it works. I hope this is helpful to the rest of you.

none the other suggestions that other people have posted have worked like turning off auto saves or disabling internet. but i did this and sure enough, going into the cutscene while i was naked worked wonders. and i have had no freezing since getting past this scene either. i'm a good bit into act 2 now and still no problems. still needs a patch though. please note that this is the only dialogue i had to take off my equipment for. the rest have worked just fine.

First freeze is when i was reading a codex entry that is right inside the Qunari entrance, the 2nd time is when i went to tell the Dwarf that his oldest son in fools gold didn't live,and 3 rd time was when i just got a auto save, i will try the auto save work around, will let you know :/

Holy hell, the freezing is problably the WORST I've ever seen in a console game.  Every other sentence seizes up the conversation, and I'm forced to reset my PS3.

Bioware, you need to fix this crap ASAP.

I kept freezing right when the dialogue started once you find Keran. I dunno if it was dumb luck or an actual trick but I restarted my system, stripped my character of all armor and weapons cause maybe there was a problem loading them in the cutscene and I wasn't logged into the PS network. It worked. I may have just been lucky but at least its worth a shot you know? Good luck guys

I had trouble before, made a new character. Turned off autosave, now it works wonders, just finished with enemies among us, without a problem. With autosave my game froze a lot, turned it off, only one freeze and that was in the begining. The game is fun, if you want to play the game turn off autosave and start a new character or wait for the patch, but I don't think the patch will do anything because your save character might be corrupt. I started a new and turning off autosave was the best thing I ever did. Bioware I think its autosave, I didn't have to do anything with my armor, i just had autosave off. So I hope that helps, I might turn it back on to start a new character to see if this holds true. I don't want to risk messing up my character

I can see how auto Save might be the problem Since the First and so far only time i had a Freeze in Dragon age 2 was when I was about to fight some slave Traders and the game was still auto saving right when I swung my sword the game froze up during the Save Process so I had to turn my PS3 power off to unfreeze it...I'll turn off auto save just to be safe.

I experience the "Freezing" feature two times in my Fat PS3. The freeze happen a few minutes after a lost connection to the bioware servers...

I have a 120gb PS3. couldn't get past Enemies Among Us until out of desperation I turned off auto save and got naked (in game). No freezes all the way to the beginning of Act 2 so far.

My biggest issue right now (and I started a separate thread for it.) Is that my "post campaign" data is freezing. My issue sorted itself out eventually but my wife has tried 12 times now to load up her post campaign data and it freezes every time. To be more specific, it puts her in the estate, like it's supposed to, but it instantly begins the end dialog with meredith right before you fight her. And as soon as it's done, the game crashes.

Decided I would play DA2 last night.

However, before I continued to play, I decided to delete all but one of my saves - leaving my most current save so I could carry on playing. I then turned auto save off.

I played for about 3 hours last night and didn't have a single freeze. I also managed to do the Fools Gold quest without it freezing which has apparently happened to quite a few people.

3 hours is probably not enough to conclude that the freezing has gone, but those steps certainly did help. However, the game still does suffer from bad frame rate drops still.

I had a lot of problems with the Raiders on the Cliffs sidequest freezing up during the cutscene before the fight. I attempted it again later with Aveline in my party which changed a lot of the dialogue and it worked okay, but it was completely unplayable without that.

I had some random freezing as well - mid battle, or trying to level up a character. It didn't cause any serious problems with my playthrough and I completed the game just fine, but it was rather frustrating when it happened.

I have stopped freezing after passing the beginning part in the game. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong in the beginning of the game causing the freezes. I have had 0 freezes since then.

finally broke down and tried to play again after 4 days of waiting for a patch...and it froze. this time after a barrel trap explosion on (the orbs never disappeared), and walking around sundermount. both freezes about 45 mins into play.

It has gotten to the point now that the game is freezing every time I enter a new cut scene or conversation, this is the ONLY time it happens.  I find it rather ridiculous that these issues were not caught during testing.  Bioware needs to fix this it cannot be good for the system to constantly be hard reset after a freeze up.



If this isn’t resolved soon I recommend everyone visit the links below to both EA and Bioware's Better Business Bureau file and file formal complaints against the software companies.  There are no excuses for releasing software that hasn’t been thoroughly tested and then provide such poor support.  There have to be thousands of people experiencing this issue from what I can gather by researching the issue.  So saying we are a "small amount of users" is only relative considering the vast audience across several platforms, this has no bearing on the severity or scope of the issue at hand.  They are acting as if the only ones experiencing this problem have created Bioware accounts and posted to this thread, when for every person that has posted here there are probably hundreds more that are experiencing the issue.  To know they are developing patches for other systems when an issue such as this exists on the PS3 tells me they are not prioritizing the issues by severity, rather they are solving the issues that get users logged onto their servers as quickly as possible to expose them to other
content available for the game(for a price of course)…. Remember we have purchased the software, regardless of whether it works or not it’s yours, and the money is theirs, it seems their motivation is skewed, slightly...



EA and their subsidiaries need to focus a little less on developing "downloadable content" to weasel users out
of more money and a little more time on creating a fully operating piece of software.

the "naked" workaround has worked for me on the "Enemies Among Us" cut scene freeze. If I remove any armor, boots, helm, and gloves, as well as the weapon I had equipped, The scene played out without even a stutter. I finally was able to pass the scene and progress the story.

So not a "fix" but a workaround.

Bioware, hurry on this patch, on my next playthrough I don't want to have to do this.

I hate to say it like others but those with Freezing issues should just make a new character . I did with AUTOSAVE OFF when starting the new game and not a single freeze 5 hours into game and just completed the Enemies Among Us Quest.

My game kept freezing while trying to turn in the Fool's Gold quest. Someone earlier in this thread mentioned taking off all equipment, and strangely, I was able to get past the dialogue and complete the quest. It may have just been coincidence, I'll admit, but at least I've completed that quest.

It is probably too late for many people, but if people can list what their inventory is that is causing issues in places where stripping it all off is a workaround, that would be very helpful in trying to narrow down whether or not it's specific pieces of equipment causing problems, or some other systemic issue.

@Allan Alot of us are having random freeze issues. Not just tied to one event or certain characters in party, just random. I have put in around 7 hours and had to restart my PS3 about the same number of times. So you need to look into stabilizing the entire game. You should be ashamed to have released such an untested product as this. I will not buy another Bioware product on day one from here on out. Terrible, terrible on the devs part.

I honestly can't remember what is in my inventory but I freeze every single time I play, I have froze at the start of the game with no invesntory, the middle, the end etc.

It freezes during cutscenes/conversations. Normally it happens about 2 hours into my playthrough.

After having consistent problems with my Male Archer Rogue Hawke, I made a female mage.

After almost 40 hours of playtime on her now, I've had ZERO freezes (knocks on wood, crosses fingers, clover, rabbits foot, etc.).

I couldn't even begin to tell you what went differently, or why it's been so smooth, but I changed no settings, autosave was still on. . .

Not sure how issues can be so incredibly intermittent with the same copy of the game on the same system, with the same settings.

I will be sure to try the "naked" workaround for my Male rogue though and see if that lets me get past "enemies among us".

I had only experienced one freeze until now. I turned off auto-save as someone suggested. I was able to play for several hours, but it just froze again.

I have the highest regards for Bioware, so please don't let us down.
