i've turned off all auto stuff, and played completely logged out of psn.. yet i still have no luck... i saved right before i need to change areas, so if i'm lucky enough to get the 1 out of 10 times of the game actually loading then i have to try my luck to change areas -.-

did you start a new character, I started a new character and now it works wonders. Its a fun game. I at first turned autosave off on my old character, but it kept freezing on me still, so thinking that the game might be corrupt because it would freeze when it was saving. Made a new character just to try it and only one freeze and that was the begining. So after that the game worked very smoth even with the DLC items.

For me (male rogue), unequipping the Ancient Leather Cuirass was the trick to avoid freezing during the Enemies Among Us, Keran dialog. The rest of the equipment I had was irrelevant as was the fact that autosave was off or on.
Good luck for others experiencing similar issues.

my game has been freezing randomly while playing. I am about 25 hours in and it has frozen in total about 6 times all at different points. really annoying. how the hell is it even excusable for a console game to be freezing? you have a fixed hardware platform to develop for, it shouldn't even be happening.

I also have had freezing issues. Only seems to happen when in battle for me. Once in Hightown also. I have limited time to play nowadays and this is getting annoying. Really hope they can address this issue. Otherwise, I love the game.

I was happy after reading the link that GamerM has shared. Howewher, notice that the date is 13-3, so that was like a week ago :S. No news for a patch since then.

Starting playing the game yesterday. My first freeze was talking to the mage-companion at the end of his recruitment quest (at the Chantry).

But then I encountered the man looking for his wife. I freeze every single time during his conversation and nothing has helped.

Original 60G PS3
Tried both logged in and out of PSN/EA
Regular edition
Autosave on
Eye connected

This is terrible quality control. Feels like Bioware's turning into Bethesda.

OVER 11 HOURS WITHOUT A CRASH...START A NEW GAME WITH AUTOSAVE OFF.

Original post:

CORRUPTED SAVES FROM DLC: my latest theory. I started a new game last nite, hawk mage with imported save, with auto save off. i played 6 hrs w/o a freeze. On my first playthrough, the game froze right after all of my DLC quests were loaded, it flew through all quest info "blocks" in like 30 seconds, they were loaded during conversation with mother (with autosave on), and frooze during said conversation. the second time around, the DLC loaded nice and slow, was actually able to read it.....NO FREEZES!! with all the glitches and hangups in the game, it seems autosave is at fault, the game tries to do too much while autosaving. i'll keep you guys posted.

PS3 320g, latest firmware, standard edition, logged in, imported save

ps3 60gb 1st edition w latest firmware etc

random freezing with background audio forcing me to restart manually by ejecting disc or killing system. (i just eject disc cud then the system reboots without moaning about it afterwards)

it freezes in conversations here and there and also in combat sumtimes. maybe its the autosave i dunno ill try it but tbh ive read here some peoples systems has broke down and im not to keen on snuffing my 1st edition cause of experimenting with badly coded games like this. didnt save the receipt for the game cause i was expecting more from da2. otherwise tbh i think i would have returned this 69 euro piece of ....

my wife plays it too on her account.. hasnt frozen for her as much and shes been able to get into the deep roads :) great for her!

just fix it and compensate with every DLC there will ever befor free for those thats bought the game before the fix I ASSUME there will be one. just a suggestion if u want me and many others to ever buy your companies products again.

until i see a fix im putting this aside

If you are getting freezing during a cutscene, you can get around it by PRESSING SQUARE to skip the cutscene. That's how I got passed freezing in the fools gold cutscene.

I've been frozen during diplomacy checks about 5 times, and mid-battle or just sitting around 3 times, it's unbelievably irritating all of the bugs that are in this game, if they weren't there, I'd be able to give it a 9/10 but this really isn't acceptable, it makes me think of Call of Duty: Black Ops and all of the problems it had, discourages me when it comes to buying new titles.

I have a 2nd gen 80GB PS3. Firmware 3.60. Always logged in to PSN and EA. I am playing the Signature Edition. I have experienced my first freezing problem in "Enemies Among Us" when in the Blood Mage Sanctuary and approaching a man trapped in a column of light. The game has frozen twice in a row in the same spot. I will attempt some of the suggested fixes (disconnecting from Internet, disabling Autosave) and see what happens, but thought the devs should have another bit of data to add to the collection.

Some more info...

The first freeze happened late into gameplay one evening, so I had been playing about 3 hours. The second freeze occurred immediately (because I reloaded the autosave from first entering the Sanctuary); however, my kids had been playing on the PS3 so the console had been on for a while.

After my last post, I went back and tried again. Again, this is early in my playing time, but the kids had been playing so the PS3 had been running for an hour or so. I disconnected from the 'Net and disabled autosave. I made a manual save from right before the freeze. Same result, the game froze. I shut down the PS3 and tried again, loading from the manual save. This time the cutscene with Keran played and I fought the blood mages. Then the game froze again during the conversation with Keran after the fight. I reloaded, fought the blood mages, saved manually and then talked to Keran. The conversation played and I was off.

"Enemies Among Us" was the last major quest I had before embarking for the Deep Roads. I continued playing, with no problems, cleaning up the last couple of quests in Kirkwall and leaving for the Deep Roads. During the boss battle against the rock demon, the game froze again. That's where I'm at now.

I should note I had no problems in the couple of days prior to firmware 3.60 being released and had no problems after until trying to talk to Keran. And then no problems until fighting the rock demon.

:( I love this game so much, I hope these issues can be resolved.

More followup...After freezing once in the fight with the rock wraith, I waited until the following day, reloaded from a manual save and was able to complete the fight (twice, since I died the in the first attempt). I have continued playing since with nary a freeze in sight. All the freezes I experienced were at specific points--the initial cutscene with Keran trapped in light, the after-battle conversation with Keran and right as the rock wraith is defeated and the killing animation is set to play. Don't know if this helps any, but that's been my experience.

Mine freezes about 30-45 mins in, every single time I play. I have to turn my ps3 off and then back on again and it seems to be fine after that. It is INCREDIBLY annoying waiting for it to freeze every time! I'm glad that it's not a hardware issue though...

FREEZING FROM CORRUPT SAVES DUE TO "PREMIUM CONTENT"
START NEW GAME WITH AUTOSAVE OFF!!!

Been playing for 11 hours w/o freeze, by simply starting new game with autosave off. if that doesn't work, you have a few options before a complete restore and reformat which deletes everything and means you have to redownload everything

1 . delete game data from game data utility - this is the game installs , updates and dlc you bought for the games
it's easy to reinstall by just restarting a game and updating then download add-ons again
2 . delete saves ( requires restarting games )
if you copy to a flash drive before deleting then you can copy back one by one and find any that cause freezing and are corrupted . this method takes time but saves data on games if they aren't corrupted
3 . use recovery menu and restore file system ( hold down power button in standby until 3 beeps - plug in controller when prompted , choose restore file system .... should be option 3 ) - this finds and removes bad files in the os and some others
through a combination of these you can usually find and delete the bad data , sometimes by deleting a minimal amount of files . if it happens on a certain game for example then that's probably the one with corrupted data and not others .
last option : restore ps3 . this deletes everything and resets to factory settings . settings > system settings > restore ps3 system .

***disclaimer:follow these directions at your own risk***

Look. Notice how they haven't said anything recently? That is because they are NOT FIXING ANYTHING! These bungling bungholes couldn't fix S@#T!!!!! If they were then they would have fixed it before release. Isn't that right Bioware? But no, these dumb sheep will buy anything we throw them. We'll just pretend to do something about it. Hell, we already have their money! Screw you Bioware. I'm so sick and tired of game devs doing the public like this. DLC and patches have ruined gaming forever. Now a company can release shoddy work, AT BEST, and then DLC patches later. Go on Bioware, tell us some more lies for a little while longer. Explain to me this? Why does the XBOX not have these issues as well? Whatever you freakin' morons. You will never get my money again. I'm sure that goes for alot of people now.

I disagree. I think they are fixing it, or even still trying to figure out whats going on. Considering its a wide spread problem that isnt just happening for everyone in the same place in the game or with the same style systems. It will probably take a bit.

There is no reason for us to get so upset about it.

Yes, our brand new (and still badass) game is having issues, but it happens sometimes. If it can be fixed I will still be happy to play it and continue to get awesome Bioware games, because so far the ones I own are all great.

Calm down and have  a nap.

here is some more info that maybe adding to the problem. A lot of PS3 users are having problems with freezing in general and even loading the game since the last update from sony on the firmware. so the people who are having issues with load up maybe its the firmware issue. i have 2 friends since the update whose DVD player will not load anything. and another friend who cant even turn his ps3 on since that update. my brothers system keeps locking up on an old old game. socom.

SOOooo maybe there are 2 issues at hand here. My frustration i started playing another game and had it freeze on me. So 2 problems. Autosave. Go back delete everything turn off autosave and play a new fresh game. So far no freezes since ive done that,

Bizkit71,
You need to watch your words Bro,You don't need to be coming on here and Throwing Such Childish words around Talking about how Bioware and EA are not trying to resolve these Game issues. And Quite Frankly what do you know about Games and Bugs and how to fix them?.Now I know your upset but don't go saying that others feel the same as you do Because I sure don't feel that way and I'm sure others don't either.I love Bioware and their games but I also know these things Happen in most games but it can be fixed and like I said before This is not a simple ohh hey there is the problem,it needs to be found first then fixed it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack bro.Just sit back relax and go do other things until this is fixed.

I agree with Bioware guy i suggest u to be paitent abit more bizkit. I mean as a fact most of the players got racked off about the Witch Hunt add-on ending. I know from my personal experience glitches make up life as it will have it's good times and bad times u just have to accept it the way it is for now untill Ea/Bioware can improve on their mistake to make better. As far as I know the patch is in beta mode being tried out on the pc as I know.

The plain and simple fact is, these devs rush these games out just for the sake of money. Whether the game is ready or not. Period. If they took the time needed for this issue in the first place then we wouldn't be sitting here having this thread now would we? We spend our hard earned money on crap because they don't want to take the extra time to fix an obvious problem. You cannot tell me they did not know of the freezing issues before release! If you say they didn't, then I have some ocean front property somewhere that I think you know. There are alot of people, just on this thread alone, that said they would be against future Bioware purchases if this is how they are going to be doing things from here on out. Sorry. This is unexceptable, in any account, and they should be ashamed to put out such a shoddy product. I wouldn't even have my name associated with something so horrid as this. The game? Great. Love it. The problems? No excuse. It takes the feeling of a great game down to a crappy game. Point blank, end of story. Anything anyone else says is completely irrelevant from here on out!
