I'm pretty sure Bioware/EA didn't intend to release a buggy or glitchy game to the public. and these things probably didn't show up when the game was going through the testing Faze before release.I personally only had 1 freeze which I think was my fault since I was running into battle during the auto save game was on but I deleted my old saves and started a new game with auto save turned off and I haven't had a freeze since then just a few glitches that aren't game breaking.the devs are hard at work trying to figure this Problem out I'm sure. But I can tell i'm wasting my breath since you made up your mind.so just believe that all of this is a Conspiracy by Bioware/EA. But I think Bioware/EA are a great Company since they do come on here and Listen to us. And I'm sure they are hard at work on a patch.

The plain and simple fact is, these devs rush these games out just for the sake of money. Whether the game is ready or not. Period. If they took the time needed for this issue in the first place then we wouldn't be sitting here having this thread now would we? We spend our hard earned money on crap because they don't want to take the extra time to fix an obvious problem. You cannot tell me they did not know of the freezing issues before release! If you say they didn't, then I have some ocean front property somewhere that I think you know. There are alot of people, just on this thread alone, that said they would be against future Bioware purchases if this is how they are going to be doing things from here on out. Sorry. This is unexceptable, in any account, and they should be ashamed to put out such a shoddy product. I wouldn't even have my name associated with something so horrid as this. The game? Great. Love it. The problems? No excuse. It takes the feeling of a great game down to a crappy game. Point blank, end of story. Anything anyone else says is completely irrelevant from here on out!
I was going to make a witty reply, but I remembered that it would be irrelevant.
In any case, I'm surprised that so many people are dropping the game; I'm sure they're working on a patch, so all we really have to do is wait. Sure, it's taking time, but the end result is worth it, at least. Although I can agree with many of you that this is annoying as ****, but we could at least show some patience rather than having 21 pages of bawwwww and "thisgamesucks"

Mine freezes about 30-45 mins in, every single time I play. I have to turn my ps3 off and then back on again and it seems to be fine after that. It is INCREDIBLY annoying waiting for it to freeze every time! I'm glad that it's not a hardware issue though...
Sorry I did not read this whole thread, way too many pages. Did someone at Bioware confirm this is not a hardware issue?
I was just about to make a thread asking if the constant freezing is something to do with the Bioware Online Network or if all the discs are broken?

Your name says it all. Go figure. I doubt, VERY SERIOUSLY, that not one time did the testers have any freeze issues. Come on buddy. They rushed this crap out knowing damn good and well it had freeze issues. But, they were on a time constraint and even one more day in developement means lots of dollars out of their pockets. So, so naive we are. But you go on ahead and keep drinking the kool-aid. Just like someone else said up above, either just learn to live with it or continue to come on here and vent. That is what the problem with gaming is today. We live with the crap these devs throw out, pay good money for it, and we continue to do it. That is why, 80% of the time a new game is released, there are major issues with it. Because we live with it. They can just release a half assed product, keep their costs down, and then maybe fix it later via a patch. Whatever bro!

If those affected can provide some information about your systems, we can hopefully attempt to gauge the types of users being affected and track some of these issues down:
What Model of PS3 are you playing on?
Original Models (20gb, 60gb)
2nd generation (40gb, 80gb, 160gb)
PS3 Slim
Which firmware version are you running? Are you running the latest official Sony firmware?
Are you logged into PSN or logged out of PSN?
Are you logged into the EA servers or logged out of the EA servers?
Which copy of Dragon Age 2 are you running? (Regular edition, Signature Edition)
Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work.
I've been having this issue pretty regularly - here's my info
ps3 slim
latest firmware (updated sunday March13)
logged into PSN
logged onto EA servers
regular edition DA2
Freezes after ~1 to 1.5 hours of play

Glad to hear you've had only a couple of freezes, but do remember that some of us are having freezing issues 90% of the time we attempt to change areas, making the game essentially unplayable.... it has been a long time since a true update from bioware indicating progress etc., and I would have gladly bought a different title and waited for DA2 to be released bug free. I know of no other industry where a mass produced product can affect so many people (remember that for ever person who posts here, there are hundreds that have issues) and yet have so little feedback from the manufacturer. Not whining, just amazed that out of 24 hours, not 5 minutes can be found by one person at the company to at least say that 'we're sorry, and working on it'

Regardless of how many freezes anyone has had whether it be 1 or 20.even just 1 freeze is not acceptable by any means but it is what it is and I'm right there with you guy's on this problem since I'm getting them also...also You really can't expect Bioware to be on here ever few hours just to say ohh hey guy's we are still looking into this matter and we'll let you know when we have more news on a fix.when they have any news they will inform us on here just like they did with Mass effect 2 for the PS3 and Dragon Age origins.. Plus I have given up on seeing a bug free game Because I know It won't happen anywhere on any console since most games now are way more advanced than what we used to play when some of us where kids playing NES games (which had no bugs).I'm not making excuses for Bioware but lets's be fair about this, some bugs just get passed by when testing since some didn't happen while testing was going on.I hate freezes also but I know thats part of games now.and Bioware is not Ignoring us they just need time to Chase down the bug and fix it.

I'm logged into the network, logged in the game. I have a 160gb older system and no other game I own freezes. I pre ordered the game which is my fault. I should've waited for the bugs to get worked out. First time playing this series as well and I should've started with Dragon Age Origins and completed that while I waited for the bugs for DA2 to be worked out for a more smooth gameplay and enjoyable experience. I've played games from BioWare before and had good luck and great experiences, but that was with the PC. I guess you have to treat PS3 games like Microsoft Operating Systems...never get it when it is first released, wait for the service pack, but if everyone did that, I guess there would be no public testing and we wouldn't get anywhere anyway. I will try to shut off the "auto save" feature that I heard about above and see if that fixes the problem. Regardless, each freeze will be photographed and saved if the screenshot is needed for freezing in a particular area of the game needs to be identified, although, I'm not sure if that would help. Maybe all this is to be expected from console gaming, I dunno - I'm primarily a PC guy, but keeping up with the video cards and HDD space is getting pricey. I'd be interested to see if BioWare's competition has similar problems with two new upcoming, long anticipated releases in this same category (1 is for PC though-shouldn't have a problem there).
Anyway, I like the game so far, but the freezes are making me want to shut it off and go back to my first person shooters that never freeze.

Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work. 8 hrs first time out on the Wounded Coast. serveral times at other places usually after a major encounter and the ending cut scene freezes. Since the battle is not saved it must be redone after the PS3 is POWERED OFF and ON.

Now on my second playthrough and the screen tearing has become much worse, the freezing pretty much has stopped though, have not had a freeze in more than 12 hours of game play, although I'm not near the end of Act 2 yet...

Another interesting thing I noticed is that when you get to the character creation screen, if you have chosen a female character it takes a loooong time to load, but if you chose a male Hawke it loads almost immediately...
