I hope that bioware gets a fix out for people, who have games that are unable to be played due to the freezing issues.Hope that it get's fixed soon.

I've been lucky that,i have not had a single freeze since i turned my auto save off.I've had one glitch, which was the Merrill friendship/rivalry glitch but that sorted itself out when i reloaded a previous save.Image IPB

DA2 signature edition

Imported save that i played from origins, awakening and it's dlc(golems and witch hunt)

ps3 slim 250gig (region 2)(europe-Scotland)

firmware 3.60

signed in to playstation and ea/bioware accounts

play time so far has been about 30 hours(halfway through act 2) and game has been fine(hopefully it stays like this).Image IPB

I'm still freezing up. Anyway, maybe we could narrow this problem down to a paticular model system. I think it might be a software issue, but it wouldn't hurt to work on this ourselves.

Check out http://www.edepot.co...del_Differences

and post your information.

I'm using PS3 model CECHP01 with software 3.60
My game is the original edition

Fat Model: CECHP01

PS2 Mode: NO

What Model of PS3 are you playing on?

PS3 Slim-250GB

Which firmware version are you running? Are you running the latest official Sony firmware?lastes - 3.6

Are you logged into PSN or logged out of PSN? Logged IN

Are you logged into the EA servers or logged out of the EA servers?Logged IN

Which copy of Dragon Age 2 are you running? Signature Edition

Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work - can not pass 20 minutes without a freeze and a complete lock down of my system

Alright, to those affected, are you playing with an import save from Dragon Age: Origins? If so, how many Origins saves are there on your system? We're trying to get an estimate of how many DAO saves people affected might have on their system.

I imported my game from Origins(only one character/onne save) to Awakening(same from Origins) and from Awakening to DA2!

Good news to me, SO FAR, since I disable the autosave feature, I've been able to play without any freeze for more than a hour! +Knocking on wood+

my game crashed about 7 times over my 40 hour play period. I have a 120GB Slim console with the latest firmware 1.60 or something I think

I was logged in to PSN and I had automatic uploads and saving etc on the whole time

I have a PS3 slim 250GB and it's 10 months old.

I really don't know what the cause is for the whole freezing issue. When I first played Dragon Age 2, I was a 2-handed warrior and beat the game in 52 hours on hard. I only had one freeze.

Then I started a new game as a female rogue and encountered like 5 freezes in 15 hours. That is a really weird coincidence. My Dragon Age Origins (Ultimate edition) had no freeze at all, and I have finished all DLCs/expansion etc.

Mass Effect 2 had one freeze in my 45 hours. I always play for 2 hours straight, then take a break of 40 min. I also disable auto save, but I am permanently online.

I really hope that a patch is on its way, so the freezing chances would decrease for everyone.

Has anyone found a possible temporary fix for the infinite loading loop issue? I've only seen it come up a couple times on this topic, but I'm worried that the patch may ignore this particular problem. Mine always occurs whenever I press 'new game' on the main menu, and turning off the auto-save feature has no effect; so... Anyone else got any home-fixes?

Last night I experienced my first freeze while playing my new Warrior character. Shortly after the first, it occurred 4 more times during "The Way It Should Be" when you meet Donnic.
  • PS3 Slim
  • 160GB Firmware 3.60
  • Logged-In to PSN/EA Servers
  • Signature Edition
  • Not using a DA:O import
  • Freezes within 15-20 minutes of running the game, hard-locks my PS3. Only game I have issues with on my PS3 currently.

80 Gig PS3 -Original Release Model
System Software Version 3.60Logged-In to PSN/EA Servers
Signature Edition
Used a DA:O import with Awakening and all additional add-ins
Freezes during conversation playback in Act 3 - favor and Fault - Playback during conversation with Cullen in the Gallows.   Reset PS3, played through next stage only to encounter constant full freeze during ending conversation with Aveline after winning loyalty of guard section in her office at the Keep.  Multiple resets, freezes at the exact same spot.   Other forums mentioned potential bricking from this...Shame...game was going so well.   May not come back to it for several months now.

brand new PS3 slim 160gb hd..updated firmware.

Honestly..does that really matter at this point. There's a few things I'm noticing after reading all 22 pages of this--insanely frustrating--problem:

1. It occurs on all consoles new, old, small HD or large HD.
2. It occurs at any point in the game.
3. It can occur in combat, when looting, zoning, conversations..in short..there's absolutely no rhyme or reason.
4. Once it starts freezing..it doesn't seem to stop.

I feel like the only thing this COULD be is corrupted saves. What else could cause a game to work perfectly until it freezes once, and then proceed to freeze continually almost every time. I'd wage more on this based on how many people claim deleting all saves and starting over worked for them(but honestly, I do not wish to start over). It started freezing for me at the dwarf expedition to deep roads, but I have roughly 15 hours played due to all the side quests I've done. So far..it worked perfectly until I began the dwarf expedition. After that, it now repeats the same pattern every time I play it:

1. Load times begin to increase substantially with each screen.
2. Actions in game began to load as well. Looting can take 1s of load time.
3. Then it freezes within 5-10 minutes of further play.

I truly hope something is announced soon..at this point I refuse to continue to try playing because I DO fear for my PS3. I can not afford another one, and I do not want to risk its life by constantly performing hard shut downs.

I'd expect bioware to be working diligently on this, though..as much as I adore the company(all their games are my favorite rpgs) the further this goes the more at risk they put themselves for a relatively hefty class action lawsuit, I'd imagine. I, along with many others, are already frustrated at paying $60 for a new copy that they can no longer play, but god forbid what happens when a substantial amount of people lose their PS3s due to shut downs proceeding the freezes as some most certainly already have.

I turned off auto save and the auto log in to EA servers and just don't use that feature since I had 2 lock-ups.I deleted my first game since I thought if I restart a new game it would be fine But when that didn't work and I froze again when doing the same quest I had my 1st freeze and I had the 2nd freeze doing the same quest but this time near the ending of Shepherding wolves instead of the beginning of the quest(Hope I'm not Confusing any1 here).I finished act1(Finally)and started act2 but didn't have any freezes in act2 yet just alot of Graphic Glitches and a few bugs that made people not show up on screen.Bioware please fix these Freezing problems soon and the Graphic bugs too.

My game has been running fine. I played for a few hours and mid run it froze randomly. I haven't had any lags or any other glitches. Just a random freeze. I do not envy the people having to look through all the code to find the bug or bugs. I guess that is one downside of next gen games. I am patient and took it as a sign I should sign off for awhile and do something other than play games at 2 in the a.m.

I'm through with looking at a 60$ (technically 80 as I got the DLC on the PS3 as well...) paperweight. The game will not go beyond the prolog, and that is if I am lucky enough to get there. I have yet to make it to the actual game yet on the PS3 after investing hours and hours trying to get it to work. I returned it, maybe I will consider buying it again if they fix the problem.... but I probably won't as this game was clearly dev'd by monkeys (for the ps3 version, I'm loving the PC version) and I've gotten -zero- legitamate help from EA or Bioware.

Thankfully amazon was understanding and accepted the return although it was open.

I'm having the same problem too. I've played around 5 hours worth, with multiple cases of the game freezing during conversations and forcing me to restart my PS3. Most recently the freeze occurs after talking the Templar called Keran. I've restarted it a few times but it freezes at that point without fail.

I have a 320Gb PS3 slim, and it is running the latest firmware (Ver. 3.60 I think). I have tried playing the game logged in to the PSN and offline, but it makes no difference with the freezing. The same applies with being logged into the EA servers. I just have the regular version of DA2.

I've never had this problem with any other Bioware game on the PS3.

I agree with everything that ikarimalice wrote. I have been watching this thread since Wednesday the 9th and hoping that Bioware would find a fix quickly and I would be able to continue playing the game. So far all I've received from this thread is more frustration that on day 11 there's no word or update or even just someone from Bioware popping in every day or so to update us on what they are doing to fix this.

I have not been able to play DA:II since the morning of March 9th. I feel like I pre-ordered and paid for a $60 dollar signature edition paperweight. I don't even want to attempt to play it anymore until this situation is resolved because if I did play and this awful glitch caused my PS3 to break then Bioware would have an entirely different problem on their hands.

This is becoming more and more troubling every day and the lack of acknowledgement from Bioware is especially worrisome. Isn't there some sort of news source (kotaku, ign or gamespot maybe) that we could contact? Perhaps if word gets out about this freezing issue to a larger audience then maybe we'd see some progress.

-_-

Probably time for every poster/watcher of this forum to begin letting the game media (as mentioned above, ign, gamespot, etc.) know of the issue. Numbers generally attract attention.... anyone remember hearing about a little issue Toyota had recentely?

Come on Bioware. Quit being cowards and come on here and say something you asses! This is terrible on your part and your part only. This should have been fixed before the game even released. I will promote this problem, ALOT, to all gaming sites and get this problem known by all. Bioware will pay for this travesty. Ball is in your court now D@CKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
