 This has occured twice now.

Fat, BC 80GB (MGS4 bundle, specifically)
Firmware 3.60
I am logged in to both PSN and EA servers.
Regular edition.
DA: O save is imported.

The first instance was after nearly four hours of play time. I was in the middle of "The Way It Should Be" and it crashed during conversation. The second instance was this morning. I only just put the game in to finish off the "Shepherding Wolves" quest - I loaded the save and headed out of the underground. The game froze in the middle of the cutscene where it shows their camp.

Come on Bioware. Quit being cowards and come on here and say something you asses! This is terrible on your part and your part only. This should have been fixed before the game even released. I will promote this problem, ALOT, to all gaming sites and get this problem known by all. Bioware will pay for this travesty. Ball is in your court now D@CKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to personally say I do not agree with this attitude at all :P

Ok, now is official! I'm not playing DA2 until the fix it! I was trying to play and everything happen again! However, this time took almost 30 minutes to my PS3 to shut down the system! I'm afraid to damage my PS3 because those freezes and lock downs!

Do you have a working copy?  When I say working, I mean can your copy get past the loading screen when you click "New Game"?  (mine can't) did you preorder it months in advance like I did for TWO systems (I did)?  If not, I take yoru opinion less seriously than I do others in my situation (because it does not effect you in the same way)..

The attitude is certainly warrented.  They bought broken games.  There is a reason the user-rating on meta-critic is in the toliets for DA2 PS3, it's because it is rushed garbage that should have been tested before shipped.  It should have been delayed.  period.

Agreed. It should have been, but it wasn't. If you look at my post on page 22 you'll see I'm very much unable to play the game and it continually freezes within 20 minutes of play, every single attempt.

However, regardless of whether or not you preorder a game, maturity and conversation carries you a very long way in the real world. "U guys suck wtf!!" is going to get you absolutely no where in a thread with a professional company seeking feedback. Take that attitude to Youtube where maybe it'd draw attention. Here, it just makes you look childish to everyone.

Bioware professional? LMAO!! Son, you have no idea what professional is. The proper thing would have been to delay it because THEY KNEW there were problems with it. But, they didn't. So does that make them pros? No it does not. You're a moron and a Bioware lapdog. Keep brown nosing the company that cost everybody alot of money. I don't care about your opinion because you're an idiot.

Freezing here at Kirk area when talking to mercs about what to do to get into the city.

Has froze three times so far.  Had to hard boot ps3, very disappointed in this release.

I have multiple saves of Origins, I erased all the ones I do not need and will try to play again later tonight.  I am concerned this hard booting will break my ps3.

So is there a patch coming or what, this is pissing me off and I had to create and register my game and account just so I could come here and post this.

Now the forum moderator says only a few are having this problem..but maybe they are like me..and don't like f*(&king with this stuff...just to post something about a game that should not have been sold in this condition.

Fix it crooks.

Or I will never buy one of your games again.

My game has froze/crashed an infinite amount of times. I can't even play it. Any and all dialogue sequences freeze my game. I have even called EA technical support and gone through some stuff multiple times...like deleting my game data utility etc...but it has been to no avail. I am extremely frustrated..I work 50 hours a week and have little free time left to play games. I try to get a game and beat it as soon as possible because I am always playing new games. I have already wasted hours of possible gameplay trying to fix this issue..but no luck. I have the Bioware Signature Edition, a120 GB Slim, and the latest firmware.

ok listen, theres no patch that is going to fix it. you have to restart your game.
turn autosave off, and stand still when you do save the game, i had over 100 freezes on my warrior.

restarted as a rogue , 6 hours down, not one freeze.

you cant patch corrupted data, just suck it up, delete your games. and start over.

Number 1, how do you know "they knew" becaue you obviously have powers beyond normal human if you somehow read there minds. Number 2, its really hard to take someone who calls someone a moron or idiot every 4 sentences seriously. Number 3, I see you are still posting in this board and you have the game, if you have such a low opinion of bioware, why did you even buy the game?

I'm near the end of the game and it freeze every 5-6 hours of game time for me. This reminds me of how DAO Awakening was performing after Sony did a firmware update.

'Hi' from Australia.

I bought the game based on the demo --which incidentally-- worked 100% fine.  No freezes.
I installed the game and ran into the freezing issue during the very first ingame dialogue cutscene.
Second attempt allowed me to progress right up until the witch of the wilds dialogue cutscene.

My details:
  • Slimline Model 320GB
  • System Software: Version 3.60
  • Dragon Age 2 Regular Edition
Variables:
  • Logged into PSN *game freezes*
  • Not logged into PSN *game freezes*
  • Logged into EA Servers *game freezes*
  • Not logged into EA Servers *game freezes*
  • Turned off Autosave *game freezes*
  • Stood still when saving *game freezes*
Deleted game, savedata and saveoptions.  Reinstalled. I then tried:
  • No PSN Network
  • No EA Server login
  • No Autosave
All at the same time. EDIT: This was completed before I commenced gameplay.

Guess what?  *The. Game. Still. Freezes*

I hope this helps...

I know because if this was just an isolated incident, then more than likely they would not know. But since this is an ongoing issue, spread out among all platforms, not just PS3, then they knew this and still sold it anyway. You are not going to have that kind of a problem on such a large scale, and have it go unnoticed during testing. Do you understand that now? Do ALL OF YOU understand that now? And yes, I have called people morons because they continue to back this kind of shoddy dev work and say it is not their fault. BS. It is their fault. I pay good money for something and expect it to work. Especially since this has been in developement for sometime now. I loved the first DA, I loved Mass Effect 2. Both great games. Which is why I am in utter shock that Bioware would even release crap like this untested. That is my complaint. If they can make a game virtually bug free(mass effect2) then what the hell happened on this? There is no excuse. None whatsoever. They do owe everyone an apology and should be keeping everyone informed of what is going on. I read over on 1up.com that they had a beta patch for the PC, and that some of the employees took a vacation! A VACATION??!!! Are you serious? With the kind of mass problems this game is having and they take a VaCa! Wow! Just wow. Wished I could screw alot of people out of money and take off. Guess that is what happened with the Madoff scandal hummm?

Just thought I would add my name to the list of aggrivated customers.

My first freeze happened when trying to start the "wayward son" mission, I tried to talk to the lady arguing with the templar and it froze, reboot, try again, same thing. So I give up on that and tried  "enemies among us" . In the sanctuary when I approaced a floating man it froze again. This seems like a major mission so I have hard shutdown and retried 5 or 6 times with different saves, party members and tactics, always the same thing. Today I thought I would give it another go but another mission ( the one when you first go to the docks) , feeze again!

This game is completly unplayable at this point and like others I fear for my precious PS3. I play RPG's almost exlusively and have always respected Bioware and it's franchises but fear for it's legacy if this is not fixed, because I know I will be filing this right next to Fallout in my list of boycotted franchises if it is not. $70 for a broken game is unacceptable.

ahh well looks like xenogears tonight, Sqenix FTW

I can see that you are frustrated and upset, but please make it easier on all of us by giving it a rest. Having to sift through 23+ pages on this problem is not a pleasant experience in the first place and your ranting is making it worse.  Trollish behavior does not become you --and frankly-- it will hold you back in life.

@Konchukas

In my playthrough, i had 2 big "freeze bugs": in the "ennemies among us" conversation with Keran and in the "fool's gold" final conversation with Yedhev (spelling?). In both occasions, i got through by unequipping all weapon plus armor on Hawke and then starting the conversations. It's worth a try! :)

I agree with Vradna1972,If you don't like the game just sell it or take it back but stop Throwing a fit over something that is done.I am also getting freezes but I'm not coming on here Bashing a good company when I don't even know what they are doing as of right now But I'm sure they are trying to figure the problems out...and Mass Effect 2 not Having as many problems Yeah right! I love mass effect series but please there are still plenty of bugs in that game too.

My friend has been playing on my console and it freezes FREQUENTLY on her, I was wondering if it was just my console actually since I got through my first play of the game with it only freezing on me once.
Apparently I should just count myself lucky. >.>

In any case, whenever it happens to her I always do a hard shut down and that clears the problem up. I have yet to encounter a consistent freeze point. (Though I'm knocking on wood. Don't want to tempt the fates.)

One more thing I'd like to bring up is:
  • Whoever is talking always manages to finish their senctence and the background music continues to play normally, despite the frozen screen.  (The controller is completely unresponsive in this situation.)
It may not be much, but I hope it helps.

And I agree with Bizkit, he may be a bit over the top but he brings up very valid points if Bioware missed this completely then people should be fired, not taking vacations, but he's pissed and he has the right to be pissed no one likes feeling like they got screwed out of money and then ignored when they complain about it, I understand they need to make money but the fact that game developers release busted games is bs anyone who's played the game should be able to tell it was rushed not sure whether to blame Bioware or EA for that but I can't really fault anyone for being pissed off because they payed $60 for something that doesnt work hell maybe if more people came on here "throwing a fit" something might actually get done, at the very least it's sure to make more of an impression on Bioware than people saying "I'm sure they're working on it even though I haven't heard anything from them"
