Kids? Doubtful. I'm more than likely older than you. Have "been there, done that", been around the world several times over, and have more wisdom in my pinkie toe than you have in your whole geneology! Now just stop while you think you are ahead.

Oh joy... I just had a freeze on my new female mage file. Right at the prologue where she's alone with Carver and over powered.

Hi guys,
I'm posting here for the 1st time unfortunately to give the devs/mods my info in the hopes that Bioware will remedy this freezing issue soon:
120 GB PS3 Slim (about a year old)
PS3 (duh) Signature Edition of Dragon Age 2
running latest firmware (3.60)
I played most of the way through Act 1 as a female rogue (with various DLC equipped on myself and party) while logged into PSN/EA servers and autosave on. During that 14 + hours of gameplay (not all at once; I only play 2 to 3 hours at a time), I encountered 3 seemingly random freezes: once at the end of combat (exp. pts. popping up), once during combat and another time coming out of the pause menu after levelling up.
I don't recall the quests that I was in the middle of or inbetween, but after the 3rd freeze, I decided to take Crash_shady's advice and delete all of my save and install data and start a new game with autosave off. I redownloaded all of my DLC, disconnected from PSN/EA and then got about 5 hours into that game before encountering my 4th freeze in the middle of a conversation with Anders at the end of the 'Tranquility' quest (made it through this quest the 1st playthrough without incident). I'm honestly starting to fear for my PS3 since I've had to do a hard restart everytime the game has frozen and I'm starting to feel like we're all beta-testing the game, so I'm going to stop playing and wait for a patch.
I'm not going to hurl scathing insults at you, Bioware, because I really do love this game (along with DA:O and the ME games) and I want to enjoy it, but it's easy to understand the frustration that's on this board. Please give us an update even if it's to tell us that you're working on a fix to this serious problem.
P.S. Sorry for the wall o' text, guys and thanks for all of the advice and info. Hopefully we'll have good news soon...
Cheers!

Guys, I truly feel Bioware has had more than ample time to atleast address the problem at hand in a proper manner by releasing some sort of statement regarding the issue instead of yanking us around with empty promises of fixes by assigning someone to come into this thread and release very little to no information regarding the problem, so as I mentioned in an earlier post I am officially filing a complaint with both companies through the Better Business Bureau and I suggest anyone who believes that both EA and Bioware's practices are at the least careless should do the same. I purchase MAYBE 1 game every 2 months due to a lack of free time (I have 2 small children, a wife, and I have a career). I would have gladly purchased a different title and waited for this game to be released without any major flaws. Both EA and Bioware knew of this problem, that is if the game was tested properly. Listen guys, this is simple business, if you have a product that will only cause a problem with a "small percentage of the users"(this being a quote from a previous post by one of the Bioware employees responding here) then why not release it? Chances are they will not release a fix for the issue for several months unless action is taken to ensure that these calls for concern don’t go unnoticed, so you hit them where it hurts, their business’s formal reputation, which is why I will be filing my complaint using the proper channels and I urge all of you to do the same. Coming here and releasing frustrations is more than acceptable, in my opinion it is mandatory, this allows the public to see how this particular company handles situations such as these.

The game has officially become unplayable now with freezes occurring every 15-20 minutes of playtime. No it isn't my PS3, I played Killzone 3 for 4 hours straight and Mass Effect 2 for roughly 3 with NO issues.

No I'm 30years old So I'm sure I'm no kid. Also I've been pretty much around the world also But that has nothing to do with what is going on here in dragon age 2.
and some of you say faulty Product I know alot of people who have had no issues with Dragon age 2.Now I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with the game because i'm having problems with it also, but I don't come on here Making threats and trying to pass my judgement onto others on here and try to turn people away from a company that knows that there are issues with their game. Like I said before if you don't want to deal with the game then sell it or return it as a faulty product but don't come on here just to be an A**hole and continue adding fuel to an already growing fire.I know alot of you are upset (including me) but Let's try to be reasonable about all of this, there are even wores games out there.

I think the freezes have something to do with changing the difficulty settings during a playthrough. because when ever i change from normal to easy (yes i did this for the Arishok cause he was an a** to kill as a two handed warrior) it freezes after a couple seconds but not always.

Hi Crash,
As I mentioned in my above post, I took your advice by deleting all previous save data, and starting a new game with autosave off. At first, I thought that you might be onto something, but then I encountered a conversation freeze about 5 hours in. Have you been connected to the PSN/EA servers throughout your new playthrough? I was not. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, since some are saying that they've had no freezing issues while playing disconnected (and with autosave off).
Anyhoo, I'm glad it's working for you. I'm pretty bummed out cos' I really want to play this game! Enjoy!

Borgir,
I am logged in to PSN/EA servers when i start playing, lately i've been losing connectivity (could be on my end), but it has not effected gameplay. Another thing, when i manually save, I don't do anything in game, i just wait. Did you try reinstalling? Corruption could lie deeper then the game saves.

Hey Crash,
Yeah, I deleted everything that had to do with DA2 and reinstalled since I believe you could be right about corruption lying deep in the game saves (especially after a freeze), and I also remain completely still 'til the save icon disappears from the screen whenever I save, but I'm not sure what to do now except wait for a patch. Thanks for the reply, though.

Borgir,
You can wait for a patch, OR try restoring file system from safe mode (like check disk for windows). You will lose corrupted files though. Follow this link:

I'm playing on a 40GB old school PS3. As soon as I try to speak to Floaty McFloaterson (after kicking some serious Blood Mage butt) I am left with a lovely tableau of three characters, staring blankly, with lovely music underneath, frozen ...totally, completely frozen. Every time. I have had to hard reset my PS3 five times in the last two days. Please patch this, or let me know how to apply for a full refund.

OK...this is really frustrating:
customise character background: CRASH
import DA:O saves: CRASH
press start game: CRASH
get to customisation screen: CRASH
i preordered the signature edition. PS3 slim 160gb, latest update, logged out of EA and PSN
can't be my ps3....i have had absolutely no issues with any other game.
I. CAN'T. EVEN. START. THE. GAME.
now what??
oh...not sure if this makes a difference (because it did for the demo), i play with inverted x and y axis (when i chose inverted for the demo it kept crashing).

I just froze at Hawk Estate also be sure to do Restore File System hold the power button down until the system turns on and turns back back off then let the button go. Then hold the button down again it will beep once then beep twice quickly. Then let it go. It will tell you to plug in the usb cord and connect the controller then press the ps button. After that a menu will pop up.

Unless the freezes aren't happening during conversations. Removing all items before going into combat because the game might freeze is suicide.

it keeps freezing... at first I thought that my PS3 was overheating but thats not it, it just freezes after 30 minutes or so of gameplay... love the game but its pretty annoying.
