I am using a 40 gig PS3 four years old maybe (not slim) I am playing the signature addition with the latest updates. The game freezes at cut scenes and conversation. I noticed it really started doing it a lot in act 2. It froze 4 times in one hour the other day.
The quest about freeing the Qunari mage froze 6 times in a row when I tried to let him free on the coast. I had to change my dialogue options to finish the quest. It just froze again last night when Avaline and her love interest the guardsmen talk in private in her room at the viscounts keep. Please tell me you can fix this because I am really getting discouraged with it. It frequently freeze ten minutes after I start.

I notice there is still no patch unfortunately.

I know a lot of people have tried probably all the methods others have had success with to play the game. Anything I mention might not really help and is old news I'm sure.

I have an old PS3 60 gig model. I have one character that I played through with a few freezes. Afterward the freezes multiplied.

I took the advice and deleted all the characters, aside from my first play through, and started with a new character. I also took off the auto save function and made sure I was not logged into the EA servers. I did post this as an update earlier. I have been fortunate since, I have been playing for I think 5 days now without one freeze.

This may not have worked for a lot of people, but it may help some. Just thought I'd post since the minor adjustments I made worked for me and might help a few. Hopefully a patch will surface soon.

This sucks. This is the only game I bought together with the new ps3. Had I researched more. And I'm broke. Now, I'm stuck with a ps3 and nothing to play with.

i am at apoint in the game where there is a quest enemies among us, as i approach the point it switches to a scene and freezes. i have skipped that part because it continues to freeze. now im at a point of the game where i cant continue till i complete this quest. i have tried evrything, rebooting,switching characters. always freezes when it go to a scene in this quest, quite frustrated now, please help.  was told here to find a solution but dont seem to see any starting to feel like im getting the run around

Raya24 - Take off all of the parties gear/weapons before the cutscene, that worked for me. Nothing else i tried did, lemme know if that helps you Raya24

Np, someone else said that earlier on here and it worked for me, I'm happy it worked for you. After I replaced all the gear I had after that I might have gotten 1-2 freezes every 5-6 hours

I'm thinking never. Just do yourselves a favor and trade that junk of a crap whole game in and get something that, you know, WORKS. I'm probably going to be banned for this, but I don't care. Bioware can suck my ****ing dick tip for being the mother ****ers that they are. ****ing crook asses. I hope you all sleep better at night rolling around in all our money and then circle jerking each other until you blow off in the heads of EA's faces. Go **** yourselves. Strange..This is my second playthrough(all together 80+ hours),and my game only froze once(for playing too long)... What's with the freezing issue? :/

I found that switching to Bethany and then walking into floating guy on "enemies among us" got me through the freeze, I was stuck for about 14 freezes but it worked after that.

I gave up. Traded this back to Gamestop yesterday for $31.50. At least I only lost 52% of my money right? Thanks EA and Bioware. If you think I'm buying Mass Effect 3 after this BS, you're dreaming. Looks like I'll be using Gamefly from now on for everything. I may not get to keep the stuff, but at least they don't steal my money.

@cameron You have the option with Gamefly to keep the game after it is sent to you. Even if it is a brand new game you have the option to keep it for a lot less of a price than going to Gamestop. I got Red Dead the day of release for 40 bucks that way. Stick it to the devs and the game distributors whenever and however you can. These ****s don't deserve full price from us for this ****. **** EM'''

Stupid move. Full refunds for games that don't work. If they denied you, then you go to EA. If they deny you there..you keep the BBB ticket open and keep fighting them.

Well, after tried everything possible that EA and everybody else said here, I'M STILL EXPIRIENCE MAJOR FREEZES! So ,Bioware, FOR YOUR ON SAKE, send this patch as soon as you can or coming this Holiday season, you guys are heading for a big surprise with Mass Effect 3!

i know this happened in Dragon age origins, It took awhile but they did fix it. I used to freeze all the time in DAO. about 6 months (aprx) and 2 patches it worked. So my dilemma is should i return Dragon age 2 (while i can) or wait it out for the fix (if that even happens, i say this becasue Bioware is not really saying much to its customers- really vague about it.)
They could be a little more nice/decent/professional about this all. Like i dont know after this issue is fixed (fingers crossed- but not holding breath) give us something as in a free dlc to say i dont know sorry for creating a hype that does not work.

I hate you right now becasue its not playable, but overall its a good game with a good story . i give credit to that aspect.

Stupid?  Sorry, friend.  I have two small kids, a full time job, and no time to sit and wait for the "right" thing to happen here.  I'm currently enjoying the 3DS I picked up, which was cheaper with the trade in credit, and I don't have to spend any more of my life trying to get $60 back.  I already spent more time than the game was worth, and I'm ready to cut my loses.  Don't worry, though.  I have learned my lesson.  No more of my money will be going to EA/Bioware.  So take it easy on the "stupid" stuff, okay?

After clocking an estimated 20 hrs (non-continuous) play (with my afore mentioned configuration) I got a freeze in Act III near the end when I was trying to access my inventory.

ok so i started a 2nd game as a mage and I have had about 25 freezes. using the autosave turned off. and the hokey pokey turn urself around recommendations.

Its almost time to start a class action lawsuit because all be damned that i am going to take half the money i spent on a game that doesnt work. im just glad i was able to get 1 run through with very little issues. 2nd run through has been an absolute nightmare.

I get hit with a freeze on my PS3 on numerous occasions. I haven't kept note of them all, but some of them involves right after cut scenes which are followed by big battles. My last crash was involving the Elven blood mage fight in "On the Loose" quest.

Are you guys this freezing thing is a game disc issue,not PS3 issue?Cause until now(my second playthrough),I have had only one freeze,which happened only when I played the game too long(6-7 hours I think). =/

I'd be inclined to entertain that thought had they not had the same exact problem with DAO last year. It seems to be a common issue with them. Bioware tests their games on developer systems (that are used for debugging) and not commercial retail ones so they basically don't  encounter the same issues the average consumer contends with because they passed clearance on those rigs. Since there are so many different models and versions of PS3s out there (International and local) the issues tend to be extremely erratic and random with some people experiencing severe crashing and freezing while others just minor incidents.
