Gamestop said they would not issue a refund can exchange discs. So I exchanged mine and if i get a freeze then I will exchange it again and again till I get to either play through the game or get a refund. I would prefer to play through cause its been fun so far minus the recycled maps

My PS3 keeps freezing.

What Model of PS3 are you playing on? Original Model 60 gb
Original Models (20gb, 60gb)
2nd generation (40gb, 80gb, 160gb)
PS3 Slim

Which firmware version are you running? Are you running the latest official Sony firmware?Latest

Are you logged into PSN or logged out of PSN?Logged in to PSN

Are you logged into the EA servers or logged out of the EA servers?Logged into the EA servers

Which copy of Dragon Age 2 are you running? (Regular edition, Signature Edition)
Regular edition.
Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work.  I started new game and it freezes every 15 minutes.

I am highly disappointed with this game.  Hope the game is updated shortly.

Are you guys this freezing thing is a game disc issue, not PS3 issue?Cause until now(my second playthrough),I have had only one freeze, which happened only when I played the game too long(6-7 hours I think). =/

I'd be inclined to entertain that thought had they not had the same exact problem with DAO last year. It seems to be a common issue with them. Bioware tests their games on developer systems (that are used for debugging) and not commercial retail ones so they basically don't  encounter the same issues the average consumer contends with because they passed clearance on those rigs. Since there are so many different models and versions of PS3s out there (International and local) the issues tend to be extremely erratic and random with some people experiencing severe crashing and freezing while others just minor incidents.

I see...I have no idea!Well,I'm glad that I'm the lucky one lol :P

I can't seem to talk to Yevhen after the Fools Gold quest without the game freezing on me every time. I've had a few other freezes during conversations that I was able to get by after restarting the console. This one freezes every time for me.

EDIT: I was able to get by it by using the skip dialogue button.

20GB PS3
Latest firmware
Signed into EA server
Signature edition

So i'm stuck playing Oblivion till the patch comes out.

So I believe, for me at least, the freezing regularity is directly proportional to the number of saved files associated with my active game.

PS3 Slim 120GB (Signed in (until I'm not!), Latest Firmware, Signature Edition)

My first play through I reused about 12 different saves and the game crashed maybe 3 or 4 times.

My second play through I maxed out the saved files (30) and the game became unplayable. I can't get through a boss fight without a crash, and conversations are extremely risky.

Started a third play through, maintaing a lucky number 7 of saved files and it hasn't crashed yet.

I've seen that others have noticed that the game crashes more frequently in later chapters, but it may be that the game crashes more frequently as the number of saved files increases and usually you happen to have more save files in the later chapters... Anyway this is certainly the behaviour I have observed... for whatever it's worth.

A patch, thank goodness. I really miss using auto-save and just being able to play continuously. With two crashes today I think I can just hold off on game play till this patch arrives. I'll keep looking.

Thank you Shadow Wing. Without seeing your post I would have not even known they had something in the works at all.

Returned the PS3 version and traded it for the PC version. No freezes after a week of playing (including all the scenes and actions that were causing trouble before). So... there's an "option" if you still have time to return your copy (and have the receipt, etc.).

I'll remember my frustration with this experience for a long time.

Heh, kinda cold comfort considering DA2 was my first ever Bioware purchase.  Personally, I will steer completely clear in the future.

I just started getting the freezing issue as well, about 4 times so far but it seems to be getting worse.  I have a ps3 slim 120gb, stay connected to PSN and have about 10 or 11 save files.

I got through my first playthrough fine and dandy, only had 2 crashes for the whole 52 hours. I lent the game to my brother and it crashed constantly, at least 3 times in a each session, during combat, in cutscenes, or even just listening to companions chat away to each other.
I've now got it back and it's doing the same for me now. Get a half hour into a session and boom.
All i want is my platinum trophy to go with my origins one :(

It seems to be freezing for me more often now. 4 times in the last couple of hours. 3 in conversation and one in battle. Being connected to the PSN or not seems to make little difference. I'm saving after every conversation and battle now. It's really annoying.
