My game freezes when I try to get into my house or anywhere else from lowtown.

I'm playing on a PS3 Fat (60GB).

Latest official Sony firmware.

Regular edition of the Game (With Black Emporium and Mubari hound extra content downloaded).

Playing offline.

And this after I finished the Will part of the game.

Playtime before crash is about an hour or 2.

Playing with an import from Dragon Age Origins
Two DA:O characters, one of which has Awakenings and Witch Hunt iterations as well (the Witchhunt save is the one I'm playing from). One character has maybe 3 saves, including the auto save; the other has ~20 in Origins, 5 in Awakenings, and 2 in Witch Hunt.

It's really weird that all these reports are about the quest where you rescue the floating knight, I went through that bit with no trouble at all. My game just seemed to freeze during random conversations. I just finished the "first part" of the game, and am now on the segment after the Deep Roads.

The freezing started with you first seeing the man in the air. I somehow got passed that part, but it now freezes when you try to talk to him.

I have a PS3 60gb and played on my cousin's PS3 Slim and both times it froze after about an hour or two of play. Always during conversations. Both of our PS#'s are up to date (Checked just now) and tried many times (Some which were online some were not connected PSN, never logged into EA I believe) and it advanced slightly further with each attempt. I advise dont skip conversation it seems to freeze it more than anything.

For me it is happening as soon as the cutscene occurs when you approach the templar in the air.

yep same here, stranded air man. but has frozen several other times, just this time in the same place. i guess i will try and skip this mission. or maybe i'll just play something that isn't broken.

Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work.

It froze, I even deleted the DAII saves and Game data (Not the DLC Data
out of laziness to re-download them) Just to test if it will freeze in
the beginning on me.



As far as Playstation system:

A Slim PS3.

Firmware: I am running the latest always Updates.

Logged in: In froze but I was able to restart a bit. Logged out: Due to crappy surface from Sony and their long houred maintenance I had to play without the PSN on which cause it to freeze IN the same conversation but random points. (Note: Even Skipping it would cause a freeze.)

The copy is : Signature Edition.

The EA Servers: Same situation as my PSN account.

Playtime: Originally 5+ Hours. Now In conversations only 3-20 Seconds.

After the Templar. I can manage (With certain someone in the body) after I ask her to check something. Then it freezes sometimes even before Hawk can say a word. As for Saves/Profiles. I have 5 Profiles (Included a Awakening one). The saves exactly are 10 included with Auto-Saves.

i suspect these freezing problems r just on ps3. i've never had problems like this with 360, but the last two games i played on ps3 have crashed (the other being fallout new vegas but i got the patch update and it fixed that, it still pauses alot though). i want a patch for this now because without one i dont even want to play it anymore,and that sux i like this game.

i had 3 saves from dao. nothing from awakenings. i had blood dragon armor and shayel and the keep dlc on those saves. the freezes seemed to happen during conversations and after a fight. beware all the freezes caused my ps3 not to play anymore physical media. i can no longer play games or movies on my ps3. i dont want this to happen to anyone else beacuse of this game.

It freezes at completely different points...load screen, middle of the first battle, character creation...not good.

I've frozen three times today

80gb (2nd gen), signature ed., latest firmware, BOTH while logged in and logged out of PSN/EA.

It's only a hunch but my gut feeling is that this is a sound issue. It always seems to happen right as some kind of sound is supposed to play.

-First time was trying to talk to some patron in the brothel (no cutscene)

-Second was while reading a bit of lore. The game froze the second I pushed the stick to scroll down. This is why I think its a sound issue because there are really only two things happening at that instant: moving the text box (simple enough), and playing the scroll sound.

-Third was when I stepped on a trap (oops) in Danarius' manor.

For me, the freeze engages as soon as I walk down the stairs and approach the floating templar. The moment my party gets close enough to him, the game begins to shift into cut scene and it freezes.

i decided to do a new game without using the DAO plot.. and not erasing the old one.. and the game froze during loading right after i defeated fredrich and his men then told gamlen that meeran had accepted to use me as an assasin..

this is the same point where it began to freeze from the first game i used with the DAO plots..

so that tells me.. why would the game freeze then when it's not even trying to look for game saves from DAO?

looks like im gonna shelve this game until a patch addressing freezing is released.. if it were just about any other game i'd return it back to gamestop but im willing to give this a chance..

also if there are any applications for beta testing from bioware.. please send me one.. because some people need to be fired lol..

Playtime before it crashed, it happened a lot, first conversation I had in the game it froze, restarted it played fine till Anthenril conversations, restarted about 3 times before I was able to go on, some other random conversations and some quest conversations like birthright, and now with Bait and Switch once I leave the place it goes to a conversation with the elf and then if freezes. Restarted about 5 times.

Playing with an import from Dragon Age Origins/awakening/ witch

1 character 3 saves orgins, 3 awakening, 1 wiitch

OK I froze during the opening battle right after Hawke killed the Orge. PS3 slim. Latest firmware. Signature edition with all DLC. Logged into both PSN and EA servers

Dragon Age Origins 110 Saves include Origins and Awakenings. I think I have 3 characters

Farthest I have been able to get is just past the very first fight , the conversation after where the lady says "BS". Game hangs up on load screen and will not go any farther .. I have let it run for over a hour. This has happened over twenty times and has continued to happen even after I exchanged the disk for a new one, deleted all DA2 data and reinstalled. I also get random freezes before that point. I spent over two hours playing Dead Space 2 today so I know my PS3 is working.

Going to crosspost here since this thread is getting more attention.

Yesterday loaded the game four times and twice it froze on the loading screen when trying to load a save. Today I tried to load a save and it froze on the loading screen 9 times so far. I have rebuilt the PS3 database and file system, and deleted all DAO game saves. I have not been able to play the game today. How is this possible Bioware?!

There are no reports of this on the 360/PC sections of the forum. To all out there with both a PS3 and 360, never purchase a Bioware game on the PS3. If my 360 harddrive didn't crap out on me I could be enjoying ME2 and DA2 right now.

Been playing Killzone, Dead Space, and MvC with absolutely no problems yet ME2 and DA2 are unplayable. Get it together!

ME2 works great with me, couple of times in DA:O and A it froze.....but besides that I was still able to beat the game, I stop playing ME2 cause I wanted to play DA:O since my ps3 had YLOD, had to get a new ps3 and played DA:O. I don't want to sell this game because I enjoy DA but if it doesn't get fixed I'm going to have to sell it.
