Same issues on a 2nd gen model; The game did not freeze once in the initial ~2 hours of play then it started with the freezing about once every hour and now about once every 10 minutes. Has happened in battle, in a conversation and whilst exploring.

The freezing kept getting worse the more i played. And now during the loading screen it freezes. I can only wonder Lowtown. It seems to be read from the
Bluray and then once it starts to read from the hdd or process everything it freezes. It cant be the bluray as its done reading from it for a few seconds

If those affected can provide some information about your systems, we can hopefully attempt to gauge the types of users being affected and track some of these issues down:

What Model of PS3 are you playing on?
Original Models (20gb, 60gb)
2nd generation (40gb, 80gb, 160gb)
PS3 Slim

Which firmware version are you running? Are you running the latest official Sony firmware?

Are you logged into PSN or logged out of PSN?

Are you logged into the EA servers or logged out of the EA servers?

Which copy of Dragon Age 2 are you running? (Regular edition, Signature Edition)

Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work.

I am playing on a 120GB PS3 slim, with firmware version 3.56.

I was logged into neither PSN nor the EA Servers when my console froze.

I am playing the Signature Edition, with all of the bonus content downloaded (though Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais shield did not appear).

I have played roughly four hours. The game froze during a conversation with Fenris (after his initial "recruitment mission").

I just experienced my second "freeze" during a conversation with Sebastien and an NPC, during one of Sebastien's quests. I'm loading an Autosave, now, at about 24:58 into the game.

I sure hope this isn't a permanent issue. At least I've been able to play. I feel for those who can't even get the game working.

EDIT: Now I can't get Sebastien out of my party. The quest is long over, but he remains locked in my party. WTF?!

PS3 Slim

Latest firmware 3.60

No problems staying logged into PSN.

No problems staying logged into EA servers.

Signature Edition

Playtime: 12 hr, 18 min, 21 sec

The game has frozen about 10 times for me since I started playing (launch day). No problems on playing day 1. The freezing started about day 2. Apart from freezing one time in battle, ALL the freezing happens in conversation. Mostly in Lowtown at night, if that means anything.

Seems like no matter what PS3, or firmware, or if we are logged in or not to any, or which Editions, DA2 on the Ps3 = Freeze.
If you could please give us an update I would appreciate it, even if your answer is 'I dont know', it'll be better than standing in the dark.

PS3 Slim 120 GB
Latest Firmware
Logged into PSN
Logged into EA Server
Signartue Edition with full DLC

it seems most of the freezing happens during the side side quests I would suggest a look at all the Side Quests, DLC etc. I've only had it freeze up at an act of mercy.

I was just entering the cave and just as I was almost done fight the game froze up when the mage started to cast a spell. oh and I was playing for 2 hours.Posted Image

Seems to freeze at random a lot more since I updated to the 3.60 update that just came out. I don't know if that is just mere coincidence but I decided to turn my party around and come back to "Enemies Among Us" at a later date and do other missions The more I played the more it froze during random times. Just after a fight, after a conversation/cut scene, during a conversation at the dialog wheel. It's gotten to the point I find myself saving after I open a barrel or walk more than fifty yards in a town, playing on egg-shells waiting for the next freeze. I guess I have no choice but to shelve this game until a patch is available... hopefully extremely soon.

We appreciate the feedback you all have provided us in regards to the crashing. As of right now, I don't have anything new to announce other than it is something that we are looking into. I have been informed that we have gathered enough information over the course of the day that has helped the team attempt to narrow down the cause of these crashes. So again thank you to all you sent in PM's and helped out with this.

from my experience playing this game,it runs smoothly past the beginning parts until you are free from your year of servitude in Kirkwall.Thats when the loading screen issues arise. The Machine doesnt freeze, you can quit the game using the PS button. It just quits loading while the splash screen stays on.

I have a PS3 slim 120GB, I have all the latest updates, I am logged into the PSN and the EA servers, I have the signature edition and the freezes started when I was talking to one of templars at the Gallows (roughly 7ish hours in, I'd say). The music still plays while it is frozen, I assumed if I left it long enough it would unfreeze itself (I experienced something very similar in Fallout 3, but it generally unfroze itself- it doesn't seem to be the case for DA2). It has only happened about 4 times, and since it autosaves quite often it hasn't been a very big issue yet, nevertheless it would make playing the game a lot more enjoyable if it would stop freezing so I wouldn't have to restart the game.

this is probably going to make me sound stupid but does the trasnparancy of the disk it self cause any problems? Ive noticed that u can see through it or it might be a burned in image. Sorry if this is stupid but thought i should ask.

no. most media discs are transparent. you just can't tell most of the time because they have labels that prevent that.

My PS3 also freezes 3 times in just hour while playing DA2 but I don't think DA2 is the reason for that. My brother and my friends are having the same problem but they're not playing DA2. The freezing started after the PS3 system update version 3.60 and now my PS3 even freezes in the XMB, version 3.60 is messing my console, my brothers console, and my friends console. I hope they fix this soon. Sony is starting to become like Microsoft and they're obsession for this hack thing is messing ups everyone's PS3.

Is the freezing during Enemies Among Us happening before the conversation Tarhone, during, or after the combat when you attempt to interact with the Templar stranded in the air?

Mine freezes after combat and after interaction with the Templar...it's basically random after that, it could freeze right away or after a few dialogue choices.

Freezing at the end of the rock wraith battle, freezes as I land the final blow. Tried 3 times now and freezes every time. Using an original 60gb PS3 with a 160gb HD. About 10 minutes in from restarting the game. Exactly the same issue as ME2. Do you guys even bother to test your games before release or do you expect us to pay to do that for you now? Suppose I'll be waiting 4 weeks for a patch as with ME2 also. I am so utterly disappointed with Bioware. I've owned pretty much every game you guys have ever released and the last 2 releases on the PS3 have been shoddy QA to say the least.

Game is consistently freezing. Everything was fine up until after the end of the prologue. at first it happened once, I didn't think much of it. after all, I had been playing for about 3-6 hours in. Then it started getting worse. Now, I pretty much cannot play for more than 20 mins or so without the game locking up for me. It only happens in conversations, its not always the same conversations, but its only happened in conversations.Truthfully? thank god for the atuosave, or this might be unplayable. and as it gets worse, it might get there. systems specs? not that this seems to matter much, game freezes pretty much whenever it wants to now, from what I've read.

60gig PS3 with a 160HD installed.
3 save files from DA:O. Yes, I am using the import data from one, but it isn't finished.
Signed into PSN? Yes,
Singed into the EA servers? Yes. tried without a few times, but honestly, it just seemed to make it worse.
Reg edition, with both current DLC installed.  I
