Party Composition at time of Crash: Male Hawke's family, the templar, and the tanking warrior chick. Sorry, dont know all these new characters yet. lol But it was right at the start of the game when the dwarf starts telling the real story.
Hawke Gender/class: Male warrior.
Does your Hawke use a customized appearance? Yes.
Firmware version: 3.6
Playtime before crash: 15-20 minutes.
Import Saves: If you are using an imported save where is the save from? (End of Origins? End of Awakening? Midway? Witch Hunt? ect.) How many DAO saves do you have on your system? No.
PSN/EA Account: Are you logged in? Yes. Logged into both.
Game Version: Regular or Signature Edition? Regular.
Happened when (Spoiler alert) the templar was giving a prayer for the dead warrior. Hawke's brother or something. Again, don't know these characters as well as the ones in Mass Efffect. Never connected with them.

slightly off topic:
This scares me as two games you are developing to come out within a year are my most anticipated games, even beyond UC3.... SWTOR and ME3... I mean, even the ME2 port was sadly plagued with occasionally freezes (3-4 per gameplay) and constant screen tearing (pink flahses / graphical tears) or randomly horrible physics. Maybe there is to much on your plate and EA is rushing products - who knows... it's always sad to see this possiblity happen to a company I've loved and supported for over a decade.

My ps3 model is: 120gb
Firmware: Upto date
Online: No, my ethernet cable has been unplugged the times it has froze
Each time it has only frozen in conversations. When the freeze occurs it is only the visuals that freeze. The speech of the current conversation will continue to play out until it ends and then there is nothing just a frozen screen.

Patience is a virtue not well received with this group apparently. I am plagued by the same bugs as everyone else in this forum, but fixes do take time. Threats not only do you no good, but also tend to upset and thereby lengthen the process. Do what you can as you can Bioware, as long a it's done right.
I absolutely agree. However, I find myself completely befuddled how this made it through the testing process. No one on the testing staff had repeated freezes trying to play this game? For us, it's happening nearly everywhere on nearly every type of PS3 system. Complaining doesn't do any good, but this is 2 games from the same company released in the span of barely over a month that are flat out unplayable for a fair number of customers who have purchased them.
Heck, the "known issue" stickies may push the most recent "normal threads" to the second page.

If those affected can provide some information about your systems, we can hopefully attempt to gauge the types of users being affected and track some of these issues down:
What Model of PS3 are you playing on?
Original Models (20gb, 60gb)
2nd generation (40gb, 80gb, 160gb)
PS3 Slim
Which firmware version are you running? Are you running the latest official Sony firmware?
Are you logged into PSN or logged out of PSN?
Are you logged into the EA servers or logged out of the EA servers?
Which copy of Dragon Age 2 are you running? (Regular edition, Signature Edition)
Playtime before the crash. A rough estimate should work.
I am playing on a 120GB PS3 slim, with firmware version 3.56.
I was logged into neither PSN nor the EA Servers when my console froze.
I am playing the Signature Edition, with all of the bonus content downloaded (though Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais shield did not appear).
I have played roughly four hours. The game froze during a conversation with Fenris (after his initial "recruitment mission").
I just experienced my second "freeze" during a conversation with Sebastien and an NPC, during one of Sebastien's quests. I'm loading an Autosave, now, at about 24:58 into the game.
I sure hope this isn't a permanent issue. At least I've been able to play. I feel for those who can't even get the game working.
I am up to four freezes, now, as I begin Act 3.
The freezes have happened while logged in, and while not logged in. They have happened while in conversation and while exploring. And, most of all, they are marring an otherwise great game.
I hope Bioware can devise a solution. I continue posting only because specifics were requested. I imagine by now they've received enough feedback to take whatever steps can be taken, so I'm done here. If a fix is released, I'll hear about it, I'm sure.

Utter, utter joke of a release. The exact same issue that broke ME2 for a lot of players is present in the next release suggesting that the game either wasn't tested or you need better testers.
60gb Fat PS3, FW 3.6, 160gb HD, playtime till crash - around 2 minutes, crashing during final mission.

The game is currently be tested on a massive level actually. First week sales numbers should provide the specifics.
Better testers? I think we're doing a fine job, actually.

All of the feedback you all have sent in to not only myself, but what has been mentioned in this thread has been extremely helpful in trying to figure out what is going wrong. The process in getting a fix out does take time and we appreciate your patience in the matter.
Thanks
