So I've installed the drivers with the
inf modding and unfortunately I am still experiencing painfully slow
gameplay. Even MOVING around is slow, panning my camera. Its 1 FPS. I've
used Fraps. Even the main menu on the initial start up lags. I have no
idea what could be causing this. The game ran completely FINE for a full
week. It was about 20-30 FPS. But then today it just started behaving
like this o.O No idea what to do. = It will even start up normally and
then slow down about 5 minutes in.***

Damn, dude, that's a real kick in the teeth.

What did you change between then and now?

Literally not a thing. When this started, nothing had been changed. The only thing I can even think of is that I left the game running when I fell asleep on accident. When I woke up I closed it, and then when I started it again, it was like this.

ASUS GeForce GTX 480 1536MB PhysX CUDA

Intel Core i7 Quad Processor i7-870

Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL9

ASUS P7P55D-E LX, P55, Socket-1156

I'm getting fairly high stuttering on *VERY HIGH* Settings. Finding the game somewhat playable with high settings on.

Thing is.. Every now and then, I keep getting some strutterings.... And everytime the stuttering appears, I've either visited my menues/talents/tactics or even a cutscene... Everytime I enter the tactical overlays of my characters or  enter a cutscene/talkscene, and are done with it, the games starts with the stuttering, which keeps me in about 30-40 fps locked for around... 1-2mins. Kinda annoying. Changing my settings does help, but I'm not going to! (Tough luck for me, though..?)

Running the game on 1920x1080, x2 AA and x4 AF and High-res textures enabled.

The thing that keeps me gaming on is that everytime I get that stuttering, it somehow helps to enter the menues/cutscenes again and the stuttering vanishes, untill it will then randomly appear again upon entering a random area..

That's my collections of somewhat buggy sense I've been on yet. Turning off High-res textures doesn't make me feel any difference on my FPS, btw.

How do I install 267.59 on my GTX 580s? Is there a work-around? Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Geforce 460 GTX
AMD Phenon II 1090T
8 gigs 1733 RAM

I play Battlefielb: Bad Company 2 at max with 1680x1050 resolution.

There's something very wrong about either Nvidia drivers or DX11 optimization. I must run DA2 in "high". The game is NOT heavier that BFBC2 by any means.

I hate to sound like a jerk but really your comapring apples to oranges. BFBC2 does not use DX11 or even DX10. The engine is totally different as well so there is no comparison and really a 460 is scrapping the bottom of the barrel for perfomance with DX11. Going to SLI or just plain upgrading the Video Card will yeild better results but just that card alone can not handle this game with DX11. Go back a few pages and look at the info I posted about performance.

My question Kayden is I was running at about 20-30 FPS with my GeForce GT 220 for a week with no problems and then today it started acting up and slowing down to 1 FPS. Why would that occur exactly? It'd be one thing if it never worked right, but its run fine until now.

You are right it and I sit corrected ;) but it only uses DX11 in small ways

www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,705197/Battlefield-Bad-Company-2-x-New-tech-info-about-the-DX11-game/News/

Here are some excerpts

PCGH:
Are there some graphical features that can only be rendered with shader model 5 hardware and how you
realize them (especially Hardware-Tessellation and Direct Compute 5 for accelerated Ambient Occlusion)?

Anders Gyllenberg:
We are using some shader model 5 instructions for improving performance with the soft shadow filtering. Other than that, the game engine is designed to run well with shader model 3 and 4 hardware.

PCGH:
Beside DX 11, will there also be DX9 and DX10 as alternative rendering  paths and if yes, which performance and visuals experience can we expect of this?

Anders Gyllenberg:
Yes we also support Dx9 & Dx10. The Dx9 path is efficient, but lacks some of the features
such as HBAO, AA and soft shadows.

PCGH: Developing for Console (and PC) usually requires an engine that is  strongly multithreaded. What different calculations can be or are split  up into different threads/worker jobs and what is the expected performance gain resulting from two respectively four (or more) cores? You are using DX11-Multithreading to lighten the load on the CPU?
Anders Gyllenberg: Most of the CPU processing is parallelized – culling, rendering, physics, audio, animations, collision etc. Performance increases noticeably with a quad core. We are currently not using DX11-multithreading.

I was wrong yes to say it doesn't use it completly but the game does not benefit in any signifigent way with the other features that make DX11 so ground breaking. Like the Multithreading and Tessellation, which DA2 uses on every map in the rocks and background. I have screen shots if you would like me to link to them. I don't feel that this addresses the origonal issue he wants DX11 to run better on his 460 but it is still not a valid argument to say BFBC2 uses DX11 features the way DA2 does. I appreciate you pointing out my error though.

I know this may sound a little daft but I have been seeing issues with the launchers setting and the in game settings, have you changed your games setting the launcher and then go back to the launcher to put them back? What I have been seeing is that the launcher still keeps certain things enabled like DX11 even if you go down to DX9 and choose High or Very high textures. Try going in the game and making the changes there. Aside from that did you progress in a chapter or install a new antivirus or drivers? Lastly some ppl have said there has been a problem with the task manager the games priority, try to manually change this to normal or above normal but not higher then that. Let me know what you find.  :D

Draght and I thought that might work for you to. Did the SLI Visiual indicator show that it was using SLI properly? Even at the main screen you should see somthing.

Okay, I checked out my Set Affinity and its set for CPU 0 CPU 1 CPU 2 CPU 3 and all are checked off. When I look at the configure settings though it says one CPU and 4 Cores. Not sure what to make of all this, but it's getting rather annoying.

Under the Dragon Age II Configure Tool. When I open it and go down to system it says there's only one CPU but 4 Cores. o.O I'm really not sure what to make of it. These are my specs from DXDiag, but like I said under the DA II Configure Tool it says I only have one CPU.

It is reading it correctly. It's just saying you have one Phsycial CPU and 4 cores to that CPU. It does that because if you have a MB that supports 2 CPUS it needs a way to define exaactly what you have. The affinity is also being used correctly so your using all your cores for the game.

Did you change any settings in the Lancher or Configuration tool and not in the game before you started to have the trouble?

Nope, the only thing I did was I forgot the game was still active, and I started editing some stats on a game file or two. But I've completely reinstalled since then so that shouldn't really effect it at all.

What are your settings for the game?

You say completely reinstalled, I'll assume that was the game. Did you use the same save file you were using before? If it is I would go to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2 and delete everything but the Characters folder, let the game reload all the default setting and then setup everything in game for your GFX settings. Usually if you uninstall a bioware game it keeps your saves and your config settings but it doesn't load the default unless the file is missing. Worth a shot.

Yeah I deleted everything but the save games, as for settings I'm not even allowed access to Very High, I run it on High. V-Sync, and when I've turned that off it has had no effect at all. Same with putting the game settings to low. I also am using Direct X 11 for my Renderer, 1680 x 1050 aspect ratio. When I've gone down to Direct X 9 and tried Medium and Low, it has still had FPS. I'm just.. completely stumped as to what I could do. I've even tried switching to my old characters that had no lag problems and they are crippled now. =\\

Give this fix a go. It sounds like it maybe the same thing, also are you changing your gfx in game or in the Configuration tool with the game lanucher?

ggRechen wrote...

Found out something interesting: once you use Dx11 it cripples your config, leaving you with decreased performance and very jumpy FPS even after going back to Dx9.
After several hours of investigation I found the error: in
DocumentsBioWareDragon Age 2SettingsDragonAge.ini there is a line
GraphicsDetailLevel=x.

After a fresh installation (or after deleting the entire [VideoOptions] section in the ini file) this line reads GraphicsDetailLevel=2 if you go for Dx9 / Medium. Using Dx11 (Medium/High) and then going back to Dx9 / Medium changes the line to GraphicsDetailLevel=1. Changing to Low/Medium does nothing to solve it. You must manually edit the line to "2" and voilá, FPS is steady again.

I'm going to try that. I did earlier, and I was changing it in game, but now I've used the tool to change it, and I just edited that line. So next time I log in we'll see if it works. I'm running a Disk Defrag and a scan of my computer. I wanted to be very methodical about this to make sure it wasn't on my end. Nothing out of the ordinary with my PC itself though.

I don't mean to parade over everyone's wishful thinking for a full-working DX11 Very High for Nvidia users, but just run the game on DX11 High, Hi-res texture, SSAO, V-sync, 4xAA, 16xAF, and your resolution, and you should be fine. I'm playing the game on these settings at 1920x1200 and it looks gorgeous. I've tried DX11 Very high, and the difference is not even noticeable. I get about 35fps on DX11 Very high, using 266.58 drivers. GTX 460 sli.

This thread is so huge. Has there been any update regarding the new video driver from Nvidia? I read that they said some time around Monday or Tuesday? Well it's Tuesday now, technically Wednesday here in west coast.

What's the news?

Just outside I get problems with dx11, not in Kirkwall or inside of dungeons.
Just like in the demo the Performance is BAD and i mean BAD when I'm outside. When I'm in Kirkwall I'm playing on 1920x1080, very high details, High Res pack, depth of fields 4x AF and 2x AA and that with a nice performance. Outside (like in the beginning) it's not playable, I guess it's sometimes less than 10 fps, but sometimes it's totally ok. I think the sandy ground really kills the performance.
But since the sandy ground also gives graphic bugs like I've not seen in a loooooooong time in any game that's gone gold (shame on you bioware) it doesn't matter right now because till this is fixed there's no way I'm NOT gonna switch to high details as soon as I'm outside.
I also had to clock my graphic card down. I guess that's a problem with the high demand of the game on high settings and the optimism of my graphic card maker.
It's a Gigabyte GTX 560 TI OC and since i clocked it down to the original clocks I've got the feeling it doesn't crash that often.

My system:
Q6600 @ 2,8 GHz, 4 GB DDR2-1000 and like i said before a GTX 560 TI (which I just bought to get my dx 11 in DA2 and Shogun 2 : / )

hey guys. this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I have a 1 Gig Nvidia GT220 ddr3, But i've been experiencing little lags even on medium setting (with everything else turned off)..i mean, this is ridiculous right? I had no problems whatsoever on other ''recent" games (with every setting maxxed). Any help would be very much appreciated =) and oh, can i also use the beta driver for GTX 560 TI?? if so, how? and is there a version of that for my 32-bit windows 7?? thanks in advance
