I don't have the benchmarks to back it up but for Direct X 10 that should be just fine as you're not worried about AA, AF, etc.Zack Ross wrote...
Yeah, I never us AA or all the other fancy AF things. I literally just run the game High Graphics and High Rez Textures. I don't care about the fancy little trimmings, so if I can do that with like this card www.bestbuy.com/site/EVGA+-+GeForce+GTS+450+FPB+1GB+GDDR5+PCI+Express+2.0+Graphics+Card/1700595.p
The problem with the GTS range is the lack of processor cores though.

gts 450 is terribly slow. It is slower, than gts 250. It is completely worthless card, as is gtx 550 ti. It is better to buy gts 250 or gtx 460 768mb.

The only question remains: how they were able to get this extra 15-20 fps on gtx 570?BTCentral wrote...
Good DX11 card that'll play on Very High for under $150? I honestly doubt there is one.Zack Ross wrote...
Alright, I'm going to buy a new Graphics Card. It's probably time to upgrade anyway, my question is whats a good card that will run DX 11 and Very High Settings but isn't like.. more than say $100It has to be under $150
Edit: Maybe this GPU comparision for DA2 will help, but honestly you're looking in more of the $200+ range.

use 267.59 drivers. I tried them, my performance is the same as in this test.

Take a look at this instead - it's a "cut down" version of the GTX 460 (called the GTX 460 SE) but would give you much better performance, the extra 96 processor cores would definately help.Zack Ross wrote...
Well I found I can get a 250 for like $144 brand newI'd have to order it online though. Literally anything close to $150 is pushing it but I can do it
So I suppose that's my only option
$149.99 with free shipping, $124.99 if you use the mail-in rebate offer.
You may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere, but if so no idea where - I don't live in the US so newegg is about the only US PC component retailer I know of

SE version. It has some sp's disabled.
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814127551 this one is ok.
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814127519 this one is also ok, but has less banwidth. If you have 1920x1080 display, it is better to go with first one.

vania z, I know - the fact is Zack Ross stated $150 was the maximum he was willing to spend - so I was looking for a GPU within his budgetvania z wrote...

Well, there's a trade off between the two.Zack Ross wrote...
So Vania you'd recommend the 768 mb one you linked? o.o I'm getting a bit... confused now.
The 1GB SE has more memory, and a better memory interface (256-bit), but less GPU cores.
The 768MB has less memory, and lesser memory interface (192-bit), but more GPU cores.
If you're looking for more memory, the card I originally linked is what you can afford
If you're looking for more processing power, this would be an excellent card.
If it were me, I would probably go for the latter with 768MB just because MSI is a much better GPU manufacturer and as you are playing at a 1680x1050 resolution you will not need as much memory as a system using say a 1920x1080 resolution. Another added bonus is it looks much better, and has a vastly superior cooling system, and will be quieter under load.
Edit: Despite BioWare saying that you need 1GB GPU RAM for the High Res texture pack, you don't - it runs perfectly on my 896MB card. No idea if 768MB would make much difference for it or not though as you're playing at a 1680x1050 resolution, I would have thought it should be OK.
As for getting confused, I can relate - there's so much choice in the GPU market now, it took me forever to decide on which GPU I was getting over the last couple of days.

DX11
High graphic setting
Hi-res texture pack
AAx4
AFx8
Vsync on
DoF on (via .ini)
Triple buffering on (via .ini)
Getting a consistent 30-45 fps (was getting 15-28 fps with released drivers for my card) on this rig:
EVGA 780i mobo
Intel Q6600 @ 3Ghz
MSI GTX275 1.8GB (stock)
8GB Patriot DDR2 (PC6400) + no page file
Anyone with a similar setup getting the same performance with these drivers?

memory is needed for high resolutions mostly. But well, da2 uses up to 1 gb with texture pack as I heard, so it may be better to buy se version with 1 gb.
If you are interested in rebate, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814127551 that one is the best choice for your money.

5770 is rather slow. I don't really like amd myself, but one card that I consider good is hd 6950 - it has low tdp, rather good perormance and it is cheap.
http://www.techpower...rect_Cu/23.html
you can use other tests if you want, but almost everywhere 5770 is slower than any 460 card

Agreed, I'm hoping after overclocking I will be able to play at 30+ FPS on a MSI GTX 460 Hawk (they can go above stock 470 speeds when overclocked).
When my old Zotac 9800GTX AMP edition died last december, I had to get a card fast to replace it. I only really had 150 euro's to spend on a replacement (hooray for unexpected hardware breakdown in the most expensive month of the year), but I wanted to get a card that was: 1. a significant upgrade to my old card in terms of performance, 2. a dx11 card and 3. an nvidia card.
That kind of limited my choices and I realized that what I wanted was hard to come by for 150 euro's. I could get a GTX460, but I wasn't really convinced by the performance of it compared to my old card - plus as you pointed out I soon realized there were 2 versions and it was a trade-off between memory and gpu power...when really I wanted both, rather than to sacrifce one or the other.
So in the end I scrounged together every nickel, dime and old candy-wrapper I could find and just got myself a GTX470 instead.
Ofcourse it was worth the money, hehe, but I'm dutch and a terrible cheapskate - so I spent a long time afterwards chanting to myself that it was a 'sensible investment'. XD

So thats where that saying "going Dutch" comes from LoL..... I tell you I am glad I don't have to hunt around for another video card for awhile!! Last November Dell replaced my 3&1/2 yr old XPS 630i with a brand spanking new Alienware Aurora with all the bells and whistles....It was in every way a complete upgrade from the XPS 630i. The old computer came with 8800 GT's in SLI but I upgraded to an EVGA GTX 295 CooP that I really enjoyed.
So now I have a like new EVGA GTX 295 CooP that I won't ever have any need for again..... Am thinkin about selling it.....

Hmm, I'm not familiar with that term, though I can guess what it means lol... Ah according to wikipedia it means everyone pays his own fees at a party or event. Yeah, that does happen sometimes, but by far not always. There's a more common phrase about the dutch "kijken, kijken, niet kopen" - litterally translated it's "look, look, but don't buy," because dutch tourists are famed for windowshopping without buying anything.
As for Dell, I take it they didn't replace your old machine for free? Or did it come with a 3+ year warranty? If so...damn! O_O
