And I confirm it does launch in widowed mode, with dx11 renderer, but not in fullscreen.

No the GTS 8800 640 could do that easily before I get the GTX, only prob was it wasn't compat with DX 11.
And yes, I forgot there was a 640MB GTS model, I had the 320MB around 5 years ago
Still have it somewhere I think as I'm pretty sure I never got round to selling it - now my GTX260 will be joining it as my GTX 460 arrived today
Why not keep both cards and dedicate the second to PhysX?

*** And yes, I have re-verified that the AF setting did not get reset to x8.
Can anyone else verify this? Or can I now start shooting bacon out of the sky?!?!

Hmm, sometimes windowed mode can be more stable than fullscreen. Quick question, are you using windows aero? If so try disabling that by switching to basic or classic theme before starting the game and see if it makes any difference.
hm no idea tbh. how would i do that? wait i google ;> i report back laters. its windows so there will be tutorials on youtube lol
i use vista premium 64 s2
i took vista basic no change still crash on fullscreen back to aero now but it was a creative idea ;>

Are the technical difficulties resolved already? Not that I'm looking for it now impatiently, currently playing the hell out of SHOGUN, but it will be nice to try playing this game since I bought it and all, before I'll totally forget about it.
I support this comment. Am playing ME2 while DA2 is gathering dust in a drawer until a permanent solution comes out from BioWare. I've been waiting more than a week for this to be fixed.
Any news on a coming patch?

So, choppy 30-40 fps with 267.26, or "smoother" ~20 fps with 267.59? Can't decide.
Maybe the new drivers are only good for gtx4xx and up, and not for my old gtx295.

Ok...some unexpected but pretty great surprise...I was fudging around with the .ini and, for the heck of it, upped the AF to 16 (from 8)...and what do you know...+5 fps?!?!? This is very counter intuitive! How is upping a graphics setting supposed to IMPROVE performance...I was expecting to see a degradation in performance...a small one perhaps...but NOT an improvement!!!

This also occurs in Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Increasing AF sometimes increases performance. Sounds counter-intuitive but if it works, take it

Running the Game on very high with DX 11 Renderer, Ambient Occlusion on, High Texture Pack enabled and using the 266.58 driver with everything max.
I had black artifact/spots and blurry textures all around.

BBC 2 also has this "tweak?!?" Nice! Gonna try that tonight! And, yes, I will take it!!

No.
It does not fix framerates or broken textures on top nVidia cards. I still see black blocks everywhere on the ground, and the game is totally unplayable. Fail in my book. Oh well, back to conquering Japan, gonna check forums in a couple of days or so.

Well, you could try the beta 267.59 drivers in the mean time. They've had some pretty positive responses reported here (myself included) and on the Nvidia forums.

4GB DDR3 1333 RAM
GeForce GTX 460 768mb
Windows 7 64bit + SP1

Following the link posted on the above thread I've started using the 267.59 drivers (with a modded inf, ofc) and have actually been able to play the game on Very High with all settings enabled, 16xAF and 4xAA, with the High-Res Texture pack on as well.
The game runs smooth with minimal slowdown during congested fights, so much so that it's barely perceptible (unless you're a total performance freak or have OCD). Considering that with the previous beta drivers I couldn't play at all on Very High settings as I was getting around 5-10 FPS just walking around with nothing happening, this is a MASSIVE increase. Seriously, going from having to play with High settings, no AA to what I've got now, awesome.
I urge everyone to try them out.
EDIT:- I just started the game up and realised the only option I don't have enabled is SSAO. Everything else is as I said.

I'm hearing reports from elsewhere that SSAO is the worst slowdown for Nvidia users. Its als probably one of the worst quality increase/performance options so most people should just leave it off.

I was messing with SSAO last night and took screenshots of several places in Hightown with and without SSAO and I couldn't tell a difference in graphics quality other than some shadows seemed a bit darker. I did notice, however, that my fps took a dive of about 10 fps. Not worth it in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm aware that my old 8800 GTS isn't a direct x 11 video card but the high setting says it requires direct x 10 hardware not 11 like the very high option.
And I confirm it does launch in widowed mode, with dx11 renderer, but not in fullscreen.
I've had the same, here is something to try, it worked for me.
Launch the game in DX9, medium, etc.
Go in the Video menu, change the renderer, restart.
Once you are in again, load up your game, then change the settings one by one, always accepting the change before going for another one. By this method, I got it working as it is intended.
Just don't change more than one setting at a time, and always start with the renderer than with a quick restart.
I hope it solves the problem for you too.

I was thinking of doing that with my old 8800GT card supporting my newer 560Ti card. Can't recall if the 8800GT had physX support or not. My recollection is yes. Would you know for sure before I risk tasking my power supply?

Thanks for the suggestion but I'll just wait on for some drivers or other fixes to see if the game can be runned smooth on my card. As of now, DX11 works in windowed mode but the FPS drop is too much. It's perfect in DX9 mode, fullscreen and medium. Thanks though !
