For reference, I can fully max out Metro 2033 with 40ish fps, and Crysis fully maxed out with 60, so I am pretty disappointed.
AMD Phenom X4 OC'd to 3.7 ghz
EVGA GTX 460 OC'd to 900 mhz
4 GB DDR3 RAM

267.91 is released with modded .inf (just look at the second post) for those who want to try. I have to wait...
Same driver family as the 267.59.

After my long rant I decided to finally give this a shot and it worked for me (watch out for the US-inf-driver-thing). But even tho the game looks great now and runs smoothly on my GTX 460 - my point remains the same. Sure PC is cutting edge technology but many things are and if you introduce something new and cutting edge, you have to do more testing in order to release some working cutting edge stuff, instead of hoping that problems will go unnoticed. I almost miss the good old 'when it's done'-days. I'd rather wait 1-2 months longer for a product and enjoy it in it's full beauty. That gives you the opportunity to focus on the game itself and discuss that instead of spending aeons of time talking about technical flaws.

I mean come on! When are we going to get a proper patch? This is really starting to be simply ridiculous...

I ranted and ****ed to them in a couple of emails and basically got the classic "try these 17 things you've already tried to see if performance is improved for you..."Solinsky wrote...
This is ridiculous. After all these people coming forth with all these tech problems, it seems like Bioware has barely even acknowledged a problem with the game. This is totally unacceptable.
It's shameful. Really, really sad. Definitely. I told the first tech support guy that I didn't appreciate the fact that he didn't even read my initial statements or he wouldn't have suggested a bunch of stuff for me to try that I had already tried. At least the second guy who emailed me sounded like he at least had a decent grasp of the English language, but basically said there's nothing else I could do at this point. And no mention of them working on a patch, doing anything to correct this situation, nothing. Just "thanks for being a paying customer".
All I can do is shake my head in disbelief at this point; and rest assured I won't be buying another EA/Bioware product anytime in the future that hasn't been out for awhile and tested/patched/reduced in price until it's at least not a complete throwing-away of good money. If I had paid only $20 for this game, I wouldn't feel cheated...but $60?!?! I've definitely learned my lesson.

I get the "missing files" error too that is mentioned in that other forum you referenced. I am going to try the ones from nvidia.com and see how they work....Matriel wrote...

My main issue with the game is that they re-used certain areas of the game's maps!! Not only did they have you going to the same places, just with different stuff there, but actual pasageways and areas were exactly the same as other areas, like some of the caves. That, to me, is the ultimate in laziness. I'm just appalled.Matriel wrote...
Now I do like DA2 - I may not agree with all the game play changes but overall I enjoy it a lot and generally I consider Bioware to be the most high quality studio in the market. But the way this problem is being handled is a bit of a letdown. And my apologies if your staff is working hard to solve this problem but it would be nice to get a few more information than just a forum sticky saying ‘we heard about that’.

So, the 267.91 drivers were a little bit of an improvement (EDIT: over the 267.59 modded INF drivers I was using before).

Ok, using the 267.91 version NVidia drivers, I am now getting about 5 extra FPS in "high-intensity" areas, but I have to keep SSAO and DDOF off, and keep my AF and AA at 4x and 8x respectively. Those settings are what I've been playing at anyway, and turning on 2 or more of them in most combinations winds up dropping framerate to below 30, which starts getting "laggy".

Umm - thats the thing I dont get.
I upgraded to 560GTX-TI overclocked to only 880Mhz (not much). Running the game on 1600x900, DX11, Graphics detail Very High, even added the Texture Mod from dragonagenexus, everything turned on except AA - using 4xAA instead of 8. Driver 267.26 beta.
Running around in Gallows & Hightown. FPS - Min 28, MAX 45, Average FPS is about 34~35.
Thing is the "lagging" & "stuttering" occurs even around 35~40 FPS - especially when I allow the mouse cursor to be on screen (starts to jerk actually) - FPS does not drop but stuttering/lagging/jerking as if it were only 15 FPS.
Hope Bioware does some optimization in the next patch... maybe the nvidia's driver is not the only party at fault.
What graphic card does Bioware Developers used to test DA2? 580 GTX Quad SLI?

Doubtful, since I've seen posters with that very setup complain of similar issues.ashwind wrote...

I finally broke down and installed the 267.85 drivers with a modded inf on my dual 580 setup and it's running much better than with 267.31.
Of course, by that time I decided I just had to do another Origins runthrough to get an imported save I wanted....

Dragons loves AMD : PC Format
PC Format has some comparisons in Dragon Age 2 showing how BioWare's RPG sequel performs using AMD versus NVIDIA graphics cards. They have benchmarks showing NVIDIA achieving higher framerates, but offer complaints about "smoothness," saying under NVIDIA: "It's like the game is dropping animation frames here and there, with my characters stuttering around the landscape like marionettes with their strings tangled."

AMD Phenom 2 955 Black Edition @ 3,2ghz
4 gig Kingston Hyper-x ddr2 800 ram
2 Inno3d GTX460 768mb in sli.
performance is crap when dx11 is turned on, even if i turn off everything it still runs damn slow, using the beta drviers from nvidia causes the game to crash
i'm at my wits end currently

New drivers are due around mid April but i imagine more realisticly towards the end of April.
A new patch is being worked on but no ETA yet as Bioware don't want to get fans expecting it only for it to be delayed and they want to include as many bugfixes as possible so people can get a better gaming experience without the bugs so it'll take some time for all the legwork to be done on each bug and then to implement the fix and test it properly.

Well Bioware said they were closely together with AMD for a fix (DX11) well guess what, will not happen until end of April. Yup early Aprils fooling that be! Just read the release notes on the new 11.3 Catalyst it does not mention DA2 and does not improve performance. Another time I feel insulted by lies from staff members.Moondoggie wrote...

And if they would care about customers they better had DA2 better tested and delayed it before release since problems with renderer were pretty obvious and yup we were told that the demo had no working DX11 renderer and that they would be fixing it before release and yup just another lie from staff (check the dates on your DA2 disc all files are from before the release of DA2 Demo, if I remember right newest file is 04.02.11 Demo release on 22.02.11).
WE WANTS FIX!

I had black or missing textures at Thundermount but fixed that with the beta patch from nVidia.
The problem i get now is when entering combat. The top left corner of the screen throws this big ugly black blocky shadow across the screen (you can even see horizontal shadows of people in there!). Oddly as soon as combat finishes, the blackness goes away. Very strange indeed.
(by the way, i was getting this BEFORE i put the beta patch on).

As far as I know the only way to play the game without crashes is DX9. If we want to use our Nvidia cards this is the only solution. Shame for EA, Bioware and Nvidia.
Modded .inf NVIDIA drivers have worked for some to be able to play DX10/11.

Dropping AA from 8x to 4x fixes the problem for most for now.
