I love ME2 and DA:O an I preordered DA2 and I have to say it doesn't feel like the same game at all to me. And not in a good way. I read the previews and played the demo and had hopes it would be better but the feel and looks, just everything seems a little, well, for the worse. I don't think the graphics are really better, I think they are just a different style. I don't mind the abilities screen, but the inventory could be better. It would probably work better as a third person shooter. I'm still going to keep on playing in hopes of becoming fonder of it, but for now it's a nay.

There's someone on 4chan very butthurt about DA2, it seems. So you might want to keep that in mind when you look at user reviews and stuff like that. Well, off to try the demo, and see for myself.

YAY!
I freakin love it!
4 hours in and someone had to pry me off the computer just so I could stop playing xD
I would pull an all-nighter but I got college to go to early in the morning tomorrow so I just can't do that :P
I am just itching to go back and play again!

I'm a 19 year old college student and I've been playing bioware games since the original knights of the old republic.
Please refrain from making such childish and immiture posts. It only makes YOU look bad in the end anyway.

On a scale of 1 to 8, I'd give DA2 an 8.5. I think the Gamespot review pretty much got it right.

BioWare did a lot of things right in this sequel, but they also made a couple of big mis-steps that will never make DA2 surpass the original.

For instance, the new fast-paced combat is refreshing, and I like the new skill tree system. I'm one of those players who won't miss the absence of talents (poison making, trap making, etc). The voiced protagonist is also a welcome change.

What I don't like about the game so far? New art direction is lackluster. It's not moody and atmospheric at all like Origins. Not being able to dress up your companions is also a big low blow.

All in all the game could've used another year in the over, and by then I'm sure DA2 would turn out better than the original. It's clear what's at fault here - short development time. It's obvious EA is rushing to get DA2 out for profit, and with the amount of DLC accompanying release, it pretty much leaves no more room for doubt on that theory.

I still love the DA franchise and I know I'm going to enjoy DA2. Heck I'm even willing to pay for the Exiled Prince DLC if only BioWare's points purchase system would stop giving me a stupid error message. But it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth knowing DA2 could've been twice as great if BioWare and EA decided to take their time with it.

I'd say Yay, I think the nay sayers who have the full version haven't gotten far enough into it. The story takes some time to really kick in, a lot of character building to start. I'm about 8-12 hours in having done all but one side quest I could get, and the main storyline is just starting to kick in.

There are some bugs, the combat needs some tweaking and small lag issues. I think there are quiet a few elements from DA:O they should have left in.

Word of advice, stick out the early tedious quests because it will be worth it.

So far I'd give it a 7/10 with potential for an 8.5.

A resounding nay. It has many faults and a plus’s but for me the combat is killing it, at first I enjoyed the change of pace from DAO (the spell animations are sweet btw), but now it’s just mindless gore fest. As an example, you walk about in the evening and get jumped by 10 bandits (which are paper thin and the only AI they have is auto attack) as soon as you kill them another 15 spawn from nowhere and you go again.

Every little battle involves at least 15-20npcs, which at first isn’t a problem at all but after 10ish hours in, it is so mind numbly boring that I’ve now set both my mages up with aoe’s and put the difficulty down to casual just to burn through all the pointless mobs. Just before I came on to night I was clearing a room out of Shades, there was eight in the room at first, I took them out quickly but then another eight spawned in the same place THEN another eight after I killed those. This wasn’t a boss fight or anything like that just clearing a normal room.
God knows what bioware was thinking

I'm about 9 hours in and loving every second of it - as I imagined, it feels just like Dragon Age - the Internet hystericals were, of course, delusional.

I would give the game way lower score than 4 and say 100% sure 'no' for buying wait for witcher 2 or anything which has strategic point of view as in true top-down.

heck I would give up 3D for get an true RPGs back up to stores, but I guess there's no real coders any longer in this world to do quality games.

There was so much potential in the sequel and from what I've been seeing, it's a hit but just barely.
I rate it around a 7.8 and a 'meh'.
It's not bad but it's not great either.

I'm having a total blast. If you have the comp. for it and are running the p.c. version get the high texture patch...it's soooooo worth it. Awesome so far.

This. Also I feel the need to give the inimum amount of moeny for the game + content (legally) after they pulled the sebastian dlc BS.

Another guy said "people dont like change".
Change is only good when it makes things better.

I'd have to say Yay. I'm only about 4 hours in but I'm really liking it so far. Yes, I do think it is very different from Origins but I happen to be a person who likes change so I see this as a positive thing.
The characters/companions have been great so far (only have 3 of them right now though). I'm just really taking my time with it right now, doing all the quests I can before moving on with the main plot. I believe this is one of the reasons why I enjoy the game so much.
I'm not too big on graphics so I could care less about the whole argument about which graphics are better - Origins or DA2 (I'm playing with DX9, medium settings and I have no problem with it. I certainly wouldn't let graphics ruin a good game for me).

One downside though is that the game crashes every once in a while. I know nothing about computer hardware/software so I'll just wait until my brother visits for the weekend and figures out the issue for me.

Overall, I can't wait to continue playing DA2 and finally get into the story.

This story is unbelievable...Perfect launching pad for non-lore buffs my arse. if I wasn't a DA lore buff, I would be completely and utterly lost...There's no sense of pacing either, in both combat and story. There've been a few golden moments, such as the interactions with Gamelon early on, but there hasn't been enough of it. The combat is pathetically easy even on nightmare, though I must admit I'm only 2 hours in, I'm not expecting any big change.

Dialogue is another big annoyance. They're not even giving us the courtesy of "Can it wait for a bit, I'm in the middle of some calibrations..." apparently. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd WANT that.

My gripes in a tl;dr list...

- Bad story pacing.
- Not enough dialogue, I for one enjoyed going around and talking to everyone.
- Not knowing what's going on since time just skipped forward a year.
- Combat is to easy, there's no thinking involved.
